Valencia V Malmo FF
After securing a draw against Manchester United in there last Champions League game Malmo FF visited the Mestalla Stadium where this would be a different story. It took 35minutes before the home side struck which came from Danny Welbeck who tucked the ball away and then just 4 minutes later as Malmo were regrouping we saw playmaker Dani Parejo fire in past Johan Dahlin to give Valencia a 2 goal lead at the break. Los Ches then took another 22minutes as Toby Alderweireld headed in a precise free kick from David Bentley and that secured his first goal for the club. That was the last of the action and a valuable 3 points gained for Mileham's men.

Valencia V Granada
Valencia played this match expecting to dominate but 24minutes in Granada's striker Ighalo showed incisive speed to split the Los Ches back two and slot the ball past keeper Guaita. The control that Valencia had on the game paid of as Poacher Danny Welbeck used his pace and dribbling skills going round two players before comfortably making the scores level. Injury time of the first half saw a quick throw by Granada where Jara curled a splendid shot into the furthest corner from the Valencia keeper and gave the away side a lead at the break. Valencia manager Ricky Mileham must have give some stern words at the break as promising young wing back Jordi Alba hit a hard cross where Bentley threw himself at the ball to draw things level. On 57minutes right back Miguel grabbed the lead for the home from a set piece and then saw Welbeck grab his second goal of the game to kill off Granada and claim all 3 points.

Spanish Cup Draw
Valencia have been drawn against lower league club U.D.Logrones and are hoping this wont even be a contest but Ricky will have to remember to never underestimate and upsets can always happen. Cup holders Real Madrid also have a right to think there through as they take on Roquetas away from home.

Mallorca v Valencia
With only three days till Valencia take on Manchester United we saw changes for the travelling side but only three. These changes didnt start off well as Mallorca took the lead through Alfaro and held it at the break. Pablo Hernandez who started on the bench joined the second half and made an instant change to the game by setting up Toby Alderweireld to get equal. It was 75 minutes when we see the next goal which came from the away side again as Dani Parejo's corner was met by full back Bruno to gain a lead however that only lasted three minutes as Mallorca's Nsue scored a spectacular long range effort which caught Alves off guard and made sure the home side got a point.

Valencia v Manchester United
Valencia hosted there third game of Champions League fixtures against English Giants Man United who were held back by a solid defence. United controlled 90% of this game and had several chances to take the lead but on 18minutes when left winger Juan Bernat bared down on goal and slotted the ball into the corner Valencia had the upper hand. Berbatov see shot after shot going wide and being saved by Alves up untill the 69th minute when he finally found the net but only to turn and see the linesman rule him offside. Valencia will feel lucky today they came away with all three points but credit to the Los Ches defence who stood strong and never gave up.
Bayern Leverkusen were also seen to win there fixture by beating Malmo FF 3-0 at home which leaves the German side top of the group.

Valencia v Athletic Club
In a game which the scorline doesn't give justice towards the performance Valencia over came a strong Athletic Club side today and after beating United midweek the morale must have been high. The only goal in this game came from centre back Ricardo Costa which was a delightful header from a set piece, but there should have been plenty more as Valencia totally dominated Athletic and some super saves from keeper Gorika Iraizoz kept the score line to only one goal and shew exactly why he was number one. All three points to the home side today which will please Mr Mileham who keeps his unbeaten run going.

U.D.Logrones v Valencia
Valencia travelled to lower league club Logrones today in the first leg of the cup and Mileham gave a chance to the youngsters changing no less than 8 first team players. The decision to do this looked a bad one to begin with as the home side took the lead with a well executed finish. Winger Eden Hadzich equalised for the away side just before half time. At the break we see Loanee Englishmen Danny Welbeck join the pitch for Valencia and it wasn't long before he helped them take the lead as he made a long range pass to Bentley who controlled well and cut inside to unleash a fearsome shot to the top corner.Welbeck then tucked one under the keeper to gain a goal for himself but Logrones didn't give up and clawed one back just two minutes later. It was not the home sides day as Welbeck grabbed a second and youngster Adri Cuevas slotted home to make it 5-2 and give themselves an advantage when we see them play at the Mestalla.

Valencia v Getafe
With most players rested last game we saw a fit and raring to go team here today with Juan Vargas set to make a return from injury aswell. There was thrilling end to end football in the first half with only one goal coming which was for the home side where Roberto Soldado was picked out by Dani Parejo from a cross and smashed it to the net. The second half was more of the same but Valencia in more control and Soldado hit the net again but it was not counted as the flag was up for offside. The highlight of the game was on the 67th minute when Juan Vargas did make an appearence where he looked fit and ready to go. Another game goes by and Valencia still struggle to score but have once again secured three points.

Manchester United v Valencia

Last time these two teams met Valencia took the points from a upset Sir Alex Ferguson and this time was different. The match started quick tempo and took just 10 minutes for the home side to score as a ball over the top saw Wayne Rooney break clean through and calmly place the ball round Alves. Diego Alves made some cracking saves to keep the score 1-0.

12 minutes after the break United struck again through a piledriving shot from Berbatov and to make things worse for the travelling fans Rooney netted his second of the game to end this match 3-0. Valencia struggled today and would have atleast liked a point but will now have to face the test and must win game against Leverkusen after they won today 4-0 against bottom of the group Malmo FF.

Levante v Valencia

This game was a no brainer as Valencia were firm favourites to win and to keep there unbeaten league run going. Mileham gave Juan Vargas his first start back after injury and he was straight in with a perfect assist which Roberto Soldado volleyed into the net. The second came just minutes later as Attacking Midfielder Dani Parejo made a nice timed pass for Soldado to get his second which he hit straight at the keeper who unluckily parryed it against his post to give Valencia a two goal lead. The goal then stood as an Own Goal. Gustavo Cabral brought one back for the home side just before the interval which left alot to do in the second half.

As more of the same came after the break as Soldado capitalized on a defensive error to claim his second of the game and then Vargas popped up to end the game and secure a win on the 87 minute with a powerful effort just in side the 18 yard box. Dani Parejo was the mastermind today and claimed man of the match for the third time in a row.

Also we have an update of the league table with 10 games played and Valencia sitting nicely in the top three.

Mileham has made it 10 games unbeaten in the league and his start to management and won 11 out of 15 games overall.
I would say that the board would be happy with this start and fans alike.

Valencia v U.D.Logrones

2nd Leg

The second legs of the cups got under way today with Valencia hosting U.D.Logrones at the Mestalla Stadium. With advantage from the first leg the Los Ches side looked the more probable side to go through and on 23 minutes it looked even more likely as controlling Midfielder Alberto Costa screamed the ball straight past the Logrones keeper. Many more chances were produced for the home side in the half but as so in many easy looking games this season they just struggled to convert them.

The second part of this game produced more magic from Valencia but as in the first half they failed to secure any more goals and had to settle on 1-0 for the day and 6-2 aggregate. Mr Mileham is surely pleased his side progressed but will most certainly have the strikers working on there shooting at the training ground.

Elsewhere in the cup Holders Real Madrid were amoungst several others to secure a place in the next round after netting five goals past Roquetas to secure victory after a 0-0 draw in the first leg. The upset of the games came as Liga Adlante team Sabadell knocked out Mallorca in a thrilling penalty shootout.
Valencia will play Real Sporting in the next round.

Valencia v Real Madrid

Valencia hosted league leaders Real Madrid today hoping to continue there unbeaten run. The first half produced goals from both sides and the first was from Valencia, where Alberto Costa produced a wonder strike to beat Casillas but Kaka was the man who cancelled the goal out as he had an easy tap in to make after a rebound off of Valencia keeper Alves.

15 minutes after the break we saw ball playing centre back Toby Alderweireld shown Red after accumilating two yellow cards. The 10 men still gave Madrid a contest but neither side were able to finish the game off so ended sharing the points at 1-1.

Valencia v Bayern Leverkusen
This was a game that Valencia needed to win to stand a chance of progressing through to the knockout stages and a sloppy start from the home side after full back Jeremy Mathieu gifted a penalty to Leverkusen where it was converted nicely sending Diego Alves completely the wrong way. Valencia tried there hardest to bring the game back level but were unable to and ended the half 1-0 down.

More cahnces came for Los Ches in the second half as Alberto Costa who is at the top of his game at the moment and substitute Danny Welbeck both clattered the bar but just not capable of finding the net. With no other goals in this match deemed Valencia were out of the running to win the Champions League and gave Leverkusen a ticket to the next round.

Elsewhere in Group F we saw Manchester United defeat Malmo FF to also book a place in the Knockout rounds and send the Swedish team crashing out with Valencia.

Rayo v Valencia
Rayo who were underdogs in this match managed to get the first goal where striker Tamudo managed to slide the ball into the net. We then see Jay Spearing Valencia's summer signing took of injured and replaced by David Albeida and that completed the half with a scoreline of 1-0 to the home side.

Three minutes after the break Welbeck tapped the ball under Rayo's keeper Cabano to then equalise for the away side. With very few chances for the rest of the half we did see Valencia manage to steal the points and were lucky to do so as deep into injury time Pablo Hernandez broke down the wing and whipped a front post cross where Welbeck grabbed his second of the game and sealed all three points for the away side.

Zaragoza v Valencia
Valencia started yet another game on the back foot as 36 minutes into this game Luis Garcia struck the ball into an empty net after calmly rounding Valencia's keeper. This was the only main action in the first half as the game seemed a bit slow tempo which didn't seem to suit Valencia.

Pablo Hernandez who started on the bench came on to join the second half and probably wish he had not done so as a corner was swung into the Los Ches box and Hernandez just managed to get a foot to it but badly sliced it past his own keeper. Zaragoza had a man sent off for a viscious foul but this didn't stop them from pushing on as Lafita who claimed man of the match was clean through and looped the ball over the keeper. This made it an end to Valencia's unbeaten run and it makes us wonder how they will pick themselves up from this 3-0 loss.

Valencia v Espanyol

With a change of tactic for Valencia today seeing two upfront instead of the normal one they started the first half with a blast and looked the more likely to score. As Danny Welbeck and Robert Soldado did cause the Espanyol defence a whole world of problems but with Christian Alvez playing out of his socks managed to keep the scores level to go in at the break.

The second half begun and we saw cultured winger Pablo Hernandez injured upon 69 minutes and replaced by Bentley. Just 2 minutes later we saw Alberto Costa's corner converted into the net from Ricardo Costa's head at the near post and on 75 minutes Roberto Soldado managed to double the lead just before substitute Bentley half vollyed a third past Alvarez. Full back Bruno then managed to score an own goal to give one back to the travellers but that was to be no more than a consolation goal and we saw Valencia take a deserved win and 3 points.

Malmo FF v Valencia
Today we watched these two teams play there last game in the Champions League for this season. Again we saw Valencia start with two upfront but it was neither of these players that got the first goal as Toby Alderweireld headed in on the 37 minute. Finishing the half 1-0 up Valencia looked in good spirits.

We then waited till the 68th minute before the next goal which was Roberto Soldado who netted home from a Juan Vargas cross. Even though a few more chances came 2-0 was to be the final score and Valencia claimed 3 points but was no help to there Group Stage and there exit was completed.

Real Betis v Valencia
With a very entertaining start to this match and Valencia's Soldado and Jonas both managed to hit the bar but unable to convert. Eventually a goal came on 34 minutes which was struck in by the home team. A equaliser wasn't far away as Alberto Costa floated a free kick into the box where it was met by no other than Ricardo Costa to end the half 1-1.

The second half got under way and an early cross on the 50th minute saw Jonas give the Los Ches the lead. Nacho for Betis levelled the game with a free header at the back post. Castro then put a dent into Mileham's team by placing in a calm finish on the 90 minute mark to give Real Betis the win and 3 points.

Uefa Europa League
Knockout Stages
After crashing out of the Champions League we saw Valencia enter the Europa League at the knockout stages where they were to be drawn in the first round against Dutch club Ajax. This draw will be a tough one and will be interesting how Toby Alderweireld reacts against his former club.
Also having the second round draw done the winner of this match will face either Rubin or french side Fc Sochaux-Montbe.

Interesting save, I'll be following along. I lived in Valencia for a few years, just a few blocks from the new stadium (or half stadium) so I've adopted Valencia as my second team.

Now, that I think of it, is the new stadium in the game? I know it was supposed to be completed 2 years ago but as far as I know it's back on for next season. I might have to think about a Valencia save.
