View attachment 311517

Rausch departure was spurred by his decision to switch his main nationality to Russian. He was sold to Hamburg for £1.5m. Abdellaoue was sold to FC Koln on a free transfer. VfB STUTTGART SIGNS JONAS HECTOR
View attachment 311515
Stuttgart, January 8, 2015 – Stuttgart has finalized the signing of Jonas Hector of FC Koln for £2.7m with the fee potential raising up to £4m based on appearances. The 24 year old left back played 16 games for FC Koln in the Bundesliga this season. He joined the club from non-league side Auersmacher in 2010 and has been Koln’s starting LB since. Bierhoff has said that Hector will likely slot into the starting line up with Tim Leibold to go on loan for the rest of the season.

StuttgartITK – Not a lot of money left in the transfer budget. Don’t see Stuttgart making a move unless a player is sold or there is an unbelievable bargain.

A dominating win from Bayern over Stuttgart to keep them atop the table in the Bundesliga. An early goal from Lewandowski gave Stuttgart the lead. In the 16th minute, Bayern got their second goal from a corner. A short pass from Bernat played a quick one two with Gotze from the corner before crossing the ball into Hojbjerg for a headed goal. At the start of the second half, Trochowski was able to give Stuttgart a chance for a come back playing a one two with Weiser before a deftly finished shot past Reina. However the come back was short lived as Bayern scored three goals, first from a corner headed in by Dante, penalty by Xabi Alonso and a header from Lewandowski. Player Profile - Yuya Osako
View attachment 310524

The 24 year old Japanese striker has been superb for the newly promoted FC Koln. Osako scored 11 goals in 16 apps in league play and 1 goal in 1 app in the German Cup. The Japanese is a prototypical poacher. His strongest skill is his ability to finish. He is an excellent finisher with good anticipation and composure. He has 12 goals on 29 shots on target. As well, he is agile and possesses decent work rate and natural fitness for the striker position. He is also a two footed player. However, he is not the strongest striker and is average technically. There are rumours that he is unhappy with Koln and might be looking for a move to a more stable Bundesliga side.

Team Profile - HOFFENHEIM
View attachment 309385
A team with plenty talented young players, Hoffenheim has continued their upward rise with a solid season this year in the Bundesliga. Managed by Markus Gisdol, he has implemented an attacking style of football scoring the 4th most goals in the Bundesliga. Gisdol plays the side in a 4-4-1-1 and has gotten the most out of Volland and Firmino. Volland has been on lethal form scoring 13 goals playing both on the wing and rotating at the striker position. Gisdol has not settled on a single striker with Modest and Szalai also getting starts up top. Firmino has been superb playing behind the striker with 8 goals and 8 assist. Schwegler has been controlling the midfield with an 88% passing completion and 7.08 tackles a game. In the back line, 19 year old Sule is showing promise of becoming a Bundesliga star averaging 9.16 tackles a game. This might not be the year Hoffenheim reaches the Champions League. However, if they are able to hold onto Volland and Firmino, they can be a force in the Bundesliga in the coming years.

Player Profile - Manuel Schmiedebach
View attachment 308643

Although Hannover is only 3 points above relegation, their team has a bright spot in versatile midfielder, Manuel Schmiedebach. The 26 year old Colombian midfielder has been an integral part of new manager, Frank Rijkaard’s tactics. Born in Berlin, he was raised by a Colombian mother. He was brought through the Hertha Berlin youth academy before leaving on a free transfer to Hannover in 2008. Since then, he has been a constant presence in Hannover’s midfield. This season, he has played a more attacking role than he ever had scoring 5 goals compared to his 2 since joining Hannover. Bild has given him an average rating of 7.20 this season. He has an 86% pass completion and average 7.68 tackles a game. Schmiedebach has been the engine to the midfield and would be called upon to make sure Hannover stays in the Bundesliga.

End of Season Stuttgart Review
View attachment 308319
One of the most interesting teams this season, Stuttgart first shocked the world by implementing a club policy where they only play German players. The policy was clear cut with them selling two of their top players in Maxim and Harnik. However, with their departure came opportunities for reinvention through additions to the squad and young players stepping up. Oliver Bierhoff has played an attacking 4-2-3-1 that has gotten the best out of most players in the squad. Timo Werner has developed into a superstar scoring 24 goals this season. Weiser, who disappointed at Bayern has finally found consistency scoring 6 goals and assisting 9. Dortmund loanee, Moritz Leitner was a key cog in the midfield with 5 goals and 10 assist. In the defense, Rudiger has developed into a quality Bundesliga CB and new signing Jonas Hector has slotted in perfectly at LB. Outside of Werner’s emergence, the most surprising player this season was veteran Cristian Tiffert. The 33 year old played in the Second Division last year and was expected to be a back up. However, he started 17 games and is the third highest rated player according to Bild ratings. One of Stuttgart’s largest transfer last summer, Marco Hoger however is one player that would want to improve. He has the fourth lowest rating in the squad but is one of the highest wage earners. This season, Stuttgart mostly played once a week so squad depth was never a huge issue. However, next season, with the team in the Champions League, Bierhoff would need to show that he has the ability to rotate the squad effectively and use the transfer market to acquire depth. One of the major arrival of improvement is a ball winning midfielder and an attacking midfielder to replace Leitner (return to Dortmund).
