On release of the Beta I started that journey again, largely using instant result and only watching the big league or cup games in instant result the assistant manager struggles to deal with red cards.
I suppose the way I play FMC these days is a sort of Director of Football role - buying/selling players and staff, overseeing training, loans and contract talks and leaving (most) of the matchday stuff to the assistant.
As a result I progress through seasons rather quickly which is what I like. Anyway, this thread will report the progress of my FMC14 career which I will keep playing until FM15.

As I said I started this a couple of weeks ago and some may have seen my progress in the older thread so a few quick updates here to show you were I'm at.
I started off unemployed and in South Africa, taking over FC Cape Town and leading them to the title and immediate promotion to the Premier League.
After a great start where we were sitting 5th, the much bigger SuperSport Utd came calling. Though sitting below us in the league they had much greater resources so I left my first club.
Despite taking the club from a relegation battle to a 9th place finish we lost the SA Cup final and I was very harshly sacked the day after!
It all worked out in the end as Ajax CT soon approached me and they are my favourite RSA team with a great youth system so it was only a matter of time before we were challenging for the African Champions League.
Good luck! Your 2145 story on fm13 inspired me to do my own long term save in fm14, taking an amateur club from the lowest Danish division to Champions League glory!
We won the Premier Soccer League the following season and progress through the Group Stage of the African Champions League (with the knockout stages being at the start of the next season such is the way our league calender lies).
With relative ease we made it to the final were we faced local rivals Sundowns.
Was a bit worried going into the first leg as we had hit a sticky patch of form but we blew away Sundowns and practically sealed my first CL win in the first leg alone.
After leaving Africa as CL champion I headed to China and Shenxin, a poor team that I treated as a stepping stone to a more prominent Asian side.
Predicted for a relegation battle so only using Shenxin as a stepping stone on the way to a serious Asian team who I can fight for the Champions League with.
Anyway, a 7th place finish was more than satisfactory given our very limited resources. Guangzhou, under legend Marcello Lippi, ran away with the League title.
The legend that is Lippi finally retired into the sunset at the beginning of the season so I immediately applied for the vacant Guangzhou job as they are THE dominant force in China. Maybe I could turn them into potential Champions League challengers.
After a nervous wait I was finally offered the job. Unfortunately the millionaire owner had left at this stage so we wouldn't be bringing an Anelka or Drogba in so the Champions League will be tough
League Table and Champions League finish
Reaching the CL final in our first season was good and I hoped we could ****** it at the first attempt. However, we were totally outclassed in the final by Seoul (Korean teams are much better than Chinese ones in Asia).
After last season's loss in the the ACL Final we managed to go one better with a fairly dominant win. Not bad considering we had 8 players away on international duty (for a meaningless friendly no less!).
Off to Mexico to try and win the North American Champions League.
Mexico has a strange league system with an Opening Stage and Closing Stage, each with a playoff to determine the winner - so basically there are two champions per season.
Opening Stage
Finished 6th but knocked out in the Quarter Final against a higher ranked team.
Finished 6th again but had a magical journey all the way to the Final but sadly we couldn't make the dream come true as we came unstuck in a penalty shootout.

A very unexpected CL win especially after the first leg defeat. Would have had to resign after the final no matter what as the club's debts were spiralling out off control with over ?7m and rising.
Also the first time I have won the CL without having actually won the domestic league at least once. Ah well, I'll not be staying around to worry about it. Off to South America and Argentina or Brazil next then finish off in Europe.
I couldn't resist and had to take this huge job. They've underperformed but have greater resources than Racing which will ultimately help me complete the 4th part of the Pentagon Challenge.
Back to the drawing board but the previous manager's poor record means we haven't qualified for next season's Copa Libertadores so looks like we have at least one more full season to build a team capable of winning it.
In the January transfer window I had to fight off several of Europe's biggest clubs who are sniffing around my players. Only lost one, a centre midfielder to Roma for 7,900,000 but I could easily sell most of my starting eleven to most clubs in Europe.
Failure to qualify for last year's Copa Lib meant a place in the Copa Sudamericana (South America's Europa League I assume) which we won with great ease in truth, including a devastating display in the second leg of the Final against Santos.
Ah right yes. Instant resulting about 90% of the games and just as well because I'm for pulling my hair our at some of the defensive play (though not as bad on 14.1.3 update.)
Got through to the semi final of the Copa Lib including overturning a 3-0 first leg loss to River Plate... then a crash dump! Grrrrrrr.
Will take a wee break from the save for a couple of days then replay those two months I lost
