No changes in the squad

Despite suffering a loss to Israel, Derby has decided to keep the same squad for the next two World Cup Qualifying games against Poland and Slovakia

Goalkeepers: Maik Taylor, Roy Carroll, Johnny Tuffey
Def: Aaron Hughes, George McCartney, Johnny Evans, Brian McLean, Craig Cathcart, Tony Capaldi, Corry Evans, Lee Hodson
Mid: Chris Brunt, Steven Davis, Chris Baird, Dean Shiels, Sammy Clingan, Ivan Sproule, Niall McGinn, Damien Johson, Pat McCourt, Jamie Ward, Michael O'Connor
FW: Kyle Lafferty, David Healy, Warren Feeney, Martin Paterson

I've decided to keep the same squad but with the intention of playing a full strength squad against Poland. The young lads just seemed too scared out agianst Israel and I can't blame them however I've decided to try and get a good result against Poland to get a more comfortable spot in the table. I think i can only do this with an experienced squad.

A fantastic result after our horrible loss to Israel, the experienced lads showed they will not be pushed over easily to the young players and proved a point here tonight against a strong Polish side. David Healy was outstanding tonight and throughly deserved Man of the Match. This victory brings us to the top of our group.
We face a strong Slovakian side next so I hope we can give another good performance for the fans at Windsor Park.

In a game that was predicted to be a very tight one, Slovakia were unlucky not to win by a bigger margin against an awful Northern Irish side. An early goal at the start made Northern Irish heads sink and without the fantastic performance of Roy Carroll, we could have seen a very embarrassing score for Northern Ireland.

Manager Derby had this to say:

We had just came out of a good result against Poland and I was hoping for a similar result to day but the lads seemed to think they could just play and come away with a win. I am hoping this game is a big eye opener for them.
Northern Ireland fall from 1st to 3rd in their group but a win against the Czech Republic will seal 2nd place.

Northern Ireland unlucky to suffer defeat
In a friendly between Northern Ireland and Holland, the Northern Irish fans will be undoubtedly proud of the way their team played. In the first half they were very unlucky to not pull ahead as they dominated the entire half. The same happened for the most part of the 2nd half but a slight slip up from youngster Corry Evans allowed Babel to slot it in past Roy Carroll. Another late screamer from the edge of the box from Dirk Kuyt put the game away for Holland.

Derby had this to say:
We came into this game with nothing to loose and the players played their hearts out. After a defeat to Slovakia I had hoped the players would use this as a chance to prove themselves worthy of the first team. Most did so.
Young Corry Evans was unlucky to make that mistake but he is young and he should become a leading star in the near future. He shouldn't let this get to him.
I'm hoping we can carry this positive game with us for our final game against the Czech Republic, as you know, if we get the win we secure a playoff place.
Norther Irish fans will have their fingers crossed for the next match against the Czech Republic in a hope that they can achievement what seemed unlikely at the start of this campaign.

Northern Irish fans are over the moon
Northern Irish fans are ecstatic over the recent 3-2 victory over the Czech Republic. With this result, Northern Ireland have secured their place in the playoff phase.
Unfortunately with France, Germany and Portugal all having to resort to the playoff phase it seems likely that Northern Ireland will face of against of these.

Derby had this to say:
Well what can I say? The lads played fantastically against the Czech Republic and we have shown the rest of the world that we are no pushovers. We could never have done this without the fans and to see so many of them turn out to this away fixture was fantastic.
However, with the knowledge that we may be playing anyone of the 3 best nations in the world, we should be keeping our celebrations to a minimum.
With the results from the other games in, the draw for the playoff phase has be done and it has been decided that Northern Ireland will go on to play Germany in the next round.

Yeyah. Keep it up buddy. Good to see an international story that isnt one of the better teams.

:D

Northern Ireland prepared and ready to go at Windsor Park
Northern Irish fans have flocked to Windsor Park for the first leg in what should be a very tough match against Germany.
Northern Irish fans have already made their way into the stadium to watch the team train before the match.

The fans will be hopeful of an upset against the Germans and will no doubt show their appreciation to the players no matter what the outcome.

The Green and White Army show they are no pushovers
The Northern Irish have lived up to their reputation of causing upsets to the best teams in world with this 1-1 draw with European giants Germany.
Germany took the lead in the 23rd minute with a well placed shot. Despite this, the fans showed that they are regarded as "the best fans in the world" by cheering the team on.
With the crowd singing David Healy's name, Healy broke away up the wing before passing it across the face of goal, where West Brom midfielder Christ Brunt slotted in the equalizer.
The Northern Irish fans were in ruptures and began singing:
Away in a manger,
No crib for a bed,
The little Lord Jesus,
Laid down his sweet head,
The stars in the bright sky,
Looked down where...
Hea-lay, Hea-lay, Hea-lay!

The support continued to the half time whistle. Throughout the second half, both teams created good chances but neither could put them away. Fan favourite, David Healy was given Man of the Match. The match finished 1-1.

Derby had this to say:
Another fantastic result from the lads, they played their heart out today and we throughly enjoyed todays game and the result to come with it. As I said before, this could not have been possible without the continued support from the fans. We are hopeful of a good result away from home if we carry on this fantastic form.
Northern Ireland will face Germany away from home next week.

Get your tickets, we're heading to South Africa!
In a monumental day in football, Northern Ireland have secured their place in South Africa with a nail biting 5-4 aggregate victory over Germany. Northern Irish fans were seen to be celebrating all the way through the night after the victory.

Northern Ireland got off to a bad start, conceding 2 goals in quick succession before Christ Brunt pulled one back with a stunning free kick just before half time. With a strong team talk from Derby, the GAWA set out to get a goal back. Unfortuatly a mistake from Johnny Evans put Northern Ireland another goal down at the 70th minute. Even though they were down 3-1, the Northern Irish fans kept on going and we rewarded with a screamer from none other than Chris Brunt. This brought Northern Ireland back into the game. With the end of the match in sight, Northern Ireland looked like they were out but a counter attack from Steve Davis after a poor German corner got Northern Ireland another free kick in a dangerous position. With Davis crossing it in, Sammy Clingan got his head onto it. Northern Ireland had equalized!
With pandamonium in the stands, the Northern Irish got a corner in the dire seconds of the game, only this time Chris Baird got on the end of a clearence with a half volley.....Northern Ireland were 4-3 up!

With the final whistle blown almost immediately after the restart, the Northern Irish fans raided the pitch to congratulate the team. Northern Ireland have gone against all odds and securded themselves a place in South Africa.

Derby had this to say:
I promised the fans that I would get us to the World Cup, and we have done it! What a performance from the lads in the second half, this was the best I have ever seen them play. Steve Davis was phenomenal on the ring side of the park today and we would have probably not been able to do it with out him. Chris Brunt's freekick was fantastic, I knew he could to it in training but doing it in a match was fantastic.

I could not have done this without the support from the fans, coming all the way here just to cheer on the lads was greatly appreciated, I hope to see a big turnout in South Africa for the World Cup!
Northern Ireland have succeeded in something that many people doubted and they have performed well as of late. The fans will be crossing their fingers for the draw on the 4th of December in a hope for a good group.

Northern Irish fans are overjoyed to hear of the news that they will be facing England in the Group Stages. The fans will hoping to cause another upset to English. The fans are also pleased with the rest of the table, which includes South Korea and Algeria, as they feel that Northern Ireland are capable from getting through these qualifying stages.

Derby is set to announce his 23 man squad for the world cup in a few months time. But in a few weeks, Northern Ireland will play host to friendlies against Denmark and the Republic of Ireland which Derby will most likely be doing some final experimenting with his squad.

(Can't post a screenshot of the table since I have already finished the first match and forgot about taking one before hand)

Northern Ireland unfortunate with draw
Northern Ireland fans will definitely have something to be proud of as their team dominated the second half and were unlucky to only come away with a 1-1 draw against Denmark.
Johan Absalonsen put Denmark up in the 3rd minute after a fantastic Danish move. However, Northern Ireland continued piling the pressure are were rewarded with a well placed shot from David Healy in the 44th minute.
Throughout the second half, Northern Ireland were by far the better side and were unlucky to not get another one in.
The match finished 1-1.

Goals galore at Windsor Park
With fierce rivals Republic of Ireland coming to play at Windsor Park, it was always predicted to be an exciting game. However no one expected it would consist of so many goals.
Northern Irish fans were in jubilation after Chris Brunt slotted away two goals within the first 5 mins, before Kyle Lafferty was substituted after a nasty tackle. His replacement Martin Paterson managed to put away a third before half time. Northern Irish fans were delighted going into the second half 3-0 up.
At the start of the second half the Republic of Ireland piled on the pressure and got their first goal in 51st minute, then their second in the 53rd minute. Northern Ireland needed to defend their heart out to keep this win. However on the 83rd minute, Stephen Hunt broke away from his man and slotted past the keeper to make it 3-3. The Republic had made an amazing comeback.
