Nice read mate. Where did you get those awesome kits from? ;) I'm following. :)

Good start for Northern Ireland
With every country looking to get a good solid win in their first fixture, it was never going to be easy. Northern Ireland faced a strong Algerian side but the team was anxious to get out there and win.
In the first half, Northern Ireland wasted a lot of their possession with many long range shots missing the target completely, however, after a fantastic run up the wing by Steven Davis and a pass along the face of goal to David Healy, the men in green were 1-0 up in the 28th minute. Steve Davis added to this tally with a well placed free kick into the top right corner just 3 minutes after. Northern Ireland looked good for the lead going into the 2nd half.
The 2nd half was very tight with both teams creating chances but not taking them until Chris Brunt's strike just outside the box put Northern Ireland 3-0 up. Despite conceding 2 goals towards the end, Northern Ireland will be pleased with this win.

Edgy draw for the GAWA
Northern Ireland can count themselves lucky to come away with a draw against South Korea despite leading 2-0 at a stage.
Northern Irish striker, Kyle Lafferty, put them one up in just the 7th minute. With South Korea constantly getting chances, Steven Davis managed to catch them on the counter attack and with a great through ball to Kyle Lafferty, Northern Ireland were 2-0 up..
South Korea finally turned their dominance into goals by scoring one just before half time and in the 69th minute shortly after Sammy Clingan's dismissal.

Northern Ireland fans will have their fingers crossed for the upcoming fixture against England and will hope Algeria can pull of a win against South Korea. If they do then Northern Ireland will progress to the second round.

Northern Ireland perform admirably
Despite losing 1-0 to rivals England, the fans are undoubtedly pleased with performance of team. England struggled to contain many of Northern Ireland's attacks and were it not for the brilliant goal keeping from Ben Foster, then the result could have been much different on the say.
England caught Northern Ireland napping when Steven Gerrard hit them on the counter attack and took it past 2 players before slotting it in to the bottom corner.
The final result, 1-0.

In another monumental day in Northern Irish footballing history, Northern Ireland will progress to play Switzerland in the next round.

Northern Ireland "roll" past the Swiss
Northern Ireland continue to shock pundits with a well deserved 3-2 victory over Switzerland today.
Northern Ireland showed their dominance over a poor performing Swiss side despite going a goal down just after 10 mins. Kyle Lafferty opened up the first of Northern Ireland's goals with a cracking header after a well placed free kick. Sammy Clingan put the green and white army 2-1 after a fantastic cross from Steven Davis. David Healy rounded the goals of on the 45th with a well placed shot into the bottom corner. Northern Ireland deservedly lead going into half time.
The second half was much the same however but after multiple superb saves from the Swiss keeper, Northern Ireland could not put them away. Switzerland pulled another back after a questionable off side goal.

Northern Ireland deserved there 3-2 win but should have won by more.

Northern Ireland have defied the odds and marched onto the quarter finals, where they will meet Russia in what should be a tough match for both sides.

Russia finally put a stop to Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland's amazing World Cup campaign finally comes to an end after Russia ease their way to victory.
Northern Irish heads sank after Chelsea man, Yuri Zhrikov, put Russia in front after a fantastic goal from outside the box. Russia managed to pull another goal on the 17th minute but striker Kyle Lafferty showed that Northern Ireland would not go out without a fight and slotted home a goal to bring the score to 2-1. Russia got another goal back before half time.
The second half was rather boring with neither sides creating any chances apart from Russian Bilyaletdinov scoring a placed shot 74th minute.

Northern Ireland were predicted to struggle in the group stages but they have exceeded these predictions and managed to get themselves to the quarter finals of the World Cup. The fans will undoubtedly be proud of the performance of the lads.

Derby had this to say:
Tonight's performance does not show how well the lads played over the past weeks. The players have shown that our wee country is no pushover and that people were wrong to write us without consideration.
I know that it has been speculated that i will take charge at Portsmouth after their abysmal performance in the Premier League, I can safely confirm that this is not true and my entire focus is on the Euro 2012 qualifiers in which I hope to replicate our World Cup performance.

Northern Ireland rise in rankings
Northern Ireland have once again rose in rankings, now up 7 places to 11th in the World. Not bad for a country that was ranked 31st just a year ago.

Not bad at all in the rankings. Did you change up your formation or did you just jeep the 4-4-2?

Pretty much, changed from a diamond to a regular 4-4-2 attacking formation. Had no decent central attacking midfielders but had quality on the wings.

Don't tell me you have stopped! Keep going, mate!
