thats bad he is actually quite a good player

I very nearly remembered my care face then.

But alas, no.

This is what getting called up to the England team does to you.

He just using his brain, at the next WC he be 34, euros 32, he realised, he wont be playing then, so he is stepping a side for the youngsters.

That must be it.

He's definitely not covering his **** by retiring before he is left out of any future competition.

He performed badly against Mexico and lost his WC place as a result of it (is he even considered a first team player by Manchester United any more?). Injuries have wrecked the lad's career in fairness to him.

well he isnt going to get picked at 34 for a world cup. so he doesnt want to be in all the qualifiers squads again, then get dropped, same as robinson, He knows just like most player his age, no matter how well he plays for Utd or |england. that the players coming back from injury will always play.

he was our best defender in 2008, when we won the champs league and league, and still wasnt picked for england. That season he was the best right back in the league, he was awesome. Just like most players who dont grab the spot light, he is rember for his mistakes rather then his briliant work.

I personally just can't trust a person who looks like a baked bean..

International retirement has worked out well for Scholes and Giggs

Good job he's never going to get in anyway then really.

He's never fit so I couldn't care less.

He was in the squad for the game vs Hungary as well..

Interesting this, Fabio obviously doesn't talk to his squad players much..

Good career move for Wes, wonder who his replacement will be.

That was 2008 though Scott. Last time I saw him play was against Mexico and he really didn't fit into Capello's system. You lot have played with your right back fairly deep and Evra charging forward - Brown just doesn't look accomplished enough on the ball to do anything but sit deep and as a centreback, he'd be well down any list of English players. Not totally his fault because he had Walcott in front of him against Mexico, but he's meant to be a fairly senior player who'll help young players through the game.

Wasn't really an individual mistake - just purely that he's not good enough to fit into any system which requires your right back to be more versatile. Not axe grinding mate or sniping because of his club team. He's a good defender. But to play at fullback (and even at centreback) the game is moving on again and he's not sufficiently rounded enough as a player to do that at the highest levels outside of fitting in with how the manager sets up his team.

You don't know what might of happened if they were still here, England may of won the World Cup with Scholes and Wales may of reached the knockout stages with Giggs (and qualified of course). So they could of been missing out on something. But what do you mean by worked well?

I think what he means by worked well is that they are both playing at the highest level and controlling matches at their ages and that is down to them not playing Internationals and just concentrating on club football to prolong their careers.
