What approach suits my team / I need a Tactic

Hello everyone. I've started playing this game 2 days ago and gotta admit, i'm a reaaaally big noob. I played with my team (WKS Slask Wroclaw) and after like 15-16 matches I lost 13 of them. I tried like 8 different tactics and formations (starting with 5-4-1 ending on 4-2-4). After loosing few matches my players started to hate me, wanted to change the club and it all got fuckd up.

I don't want to play with fancy teams like Barcelona or some PremierShip teams, I don't want the game to be THAT easy (tho with my management skills it wouldn't be as easy as I think now lol).

I'm looking forward to your tips and tactics for this tbh ****** team. Here's the screenshot of players. Thanks in advance!

im in my second fiorentina season, won both cup and league with a sidewinder tactic the first season but due to the fact that i have gilardino and both babacar and lukaku up front im changing it to a 4-2-2 with amc and dmc. any input on how i should use gilardino, babacar and lukaku for maximum output? settings etc

From what ur saying i guess u should start with creating a solid defense, def a flat one, focus player tasks on the defensive parts and let the offense do the attacking. Try stabilizing with a dmc too, focus on short, safe build up play or counter attack depending on your forwards and their skills

What would you suggest? 5-4-1 or 5-3-2 ?

depending. Do you have two strong forwards or not? if u have i would play with two up front for sure, and maybe set your rb and lb two wing backs to give some backup out on the sides

Hi. This is kinda my first post here in the forum, I basically checked out discussions before, without even registering. I've been playing FM since the 2010 version, so I'm kind of a newbie. Always did tweaking in my tactics, but in FM11 my "shoot-for-the-skies" tweaking isn't working. I mean, I've got some awesome players, but no one seems to do well and it's ******* me off. Really hope someone can help me out, so here it goes:

Team - Juventus
Season - 2010-2011, in november.

Hey! A fellow Juve player. I am almost done with my first season with Juve and will finish 1st in Serie A. What i think the problem is that u have to much space. The tactic ur using would require full backs that can attack and rush back on defense and need to be quick, the wingers need to be the same/inside forward. By having players roaming and being to creative they get out of position this causes goals to be scored on the counter.

How are u conceding goals? corners, on the counter attack, how is ur posession? are u retaining posession? etc.

Personally the players juve has do not fit the formation in my opinion. motta and grygera are terrible full backs for a quick wide attacking game. Iaquinta is also not the ideal man up front. By putting a lot of focus on the front man u need someone more like Ibrahimovic. Also they do not have any natural good wide attacking players ala messi or gareth bale like. (except krasic)

It seems as tho the formation sprays ball out wide and the wide players have no where to go but cross to the lone striker. Since u have a def mid and one attacking mid.

I am playing a 442. Where its a more rigid system. with lanzafame and krasic on the wings. both playing wide to hit the byline for crosses, krasic is the primary playmaker to cut inside. two strikers up front for box play. And i have the fullbacks more reserved because i have 4 abreast in midfield. i have sissoko or melo as box to box or ball winning paired to marchisio or aqualini who dictate the midfield passing play.

Also i like combining chiellini and bonucci as a stopper/cover combo in def. it was working well for me.

I think you are playing too conservatively. Your 3 midfielders (AMC and both centremids) are basically instructed not to attack. Adv playmaker/support is strictly a supply role with occasional long shots; ball winning midfielder is a defensive role and deep lying playmaker/defend is even more defensive than ball winner.

-I would start by choosing to use either a ball winner or deep lying playmaker, not both. Consider this one your "defensive" midfielder, so make sure he is good at tackling and whatnot. The difference is a ball winner will aggressively go after the ball further in your opponent's half, whereas a deep-lying playmaker will defend from your half. Fabian Ernst is a good enough passer to be a deep-lying playmaker, just don't make him your team's main playmaker.. Your other midfielder could be box to box, however, I don't know if Besiktas has a good b2b CM. Unless you can afford a new one, just use centre midfielder role, either support or attack.

- Guti is really creative and skilled but also slow and lazy, so I would consider using him as trequartista so he can focus on offense. This should also go well with your direct style as he will get into position for a counter-attacking outlet pass while the rest of your team is defending.

- I like poacher lone strikers just fine, but Bobo has poor acceleration. Attributes wise, deep lying/support or advanced forward might be better for him... my preference is poacher or advanced in 4231 so give advanced forward a try.

- Quaresma should be scoring a large amount of your goals as an inside forward. The only reason I can think of is that with your current setup, you have too many players wandering around in middle of pitch not getting forward, so all the defenders swarm around Quaresma and Bobo. You could try setting Quaresma as your team's target man (run onto ball or to feet), as he is arguably your most lethal finisher. Also keep in mind Roberto Hilbert is not the best crosser/passer so the supply from that side is a bit lacking.

Good luck, hope this helped a little bit. 4-2-3-1 is a good formation; I think you just need to allow your players a bit more offensive freedom.

I agree with the above answer, your team is too defensive. def set guti to treq and make the changes in the midfield, the formation ur using should lead to a lot of goals

hello mate i would first of all play a 4-4-2 ok and would play rigid and attacking with a short passing style, u should definitely play pressing unless u wanna counter attack ok. more creative freedom and less time wasting.

I would probably go for a more direct counter style within a flat 442. Perhaps with a slightly raised d-line. I would play through the middle and make the more defensive midfielders hit direct t-balls into channels for the wingers to run on to.

So in short. Counter, not sit too deep, direct passing, attacking wingers, defensive MCs in most matches and perhaps switch to Control when playing at home against lesser opponents

Im in my second season now, won both league and cup first using a mod of the sidewinder tactic from fm2010(pm me if u want a screenshot of the tactic). Didnt really buy any new players because the squad is solid. U might wanna invest in a decent backup striker for gilardino as both mutu(9 games ban) and jovetic(10 months injury) are unavailable. You might also need a second lwb, i bought dodo, great prospect for the future on the back, and lukaku up front. U also have babacar that becomes a total beast. Your midfield is strong, and so are the wingers with vargas, carraro(real madrid tried buying him after first half season), ljajic, santana++. i bought affelay to get some technique as amc and he works great but not necessary to buy. great team choice! have fun

i have chosen to finally start with my beloved tottenham. recently scrolling through some posts i saw that somebody had played with spurs and won the league, aswell as reaching the quarters or semis of the champs league. the thing i noticed was his amazing defence. 15 goals against in the whole EPL season. he played a 4-4-1-1 but i was unable to find the post again after starting the new game. i am determined to play the 4-4-1-1 formation but am completely unsure on how to play it. so far ive played 2 league games beatin man city 4-3 and birmingham 2-1, conceding silly goals. birmingham completely outplayed me which was a disappointment and in the champs league 1st leg i beat braga 2-1, conceding in the last minute to dampen my spirits.

id like to utilise van er vaart in the best possible way and id like to stop conceding goals that are silly/through mistakes. its been proven its possible to succeed with spurs in the first season.

my advanced tactics and the way we play aswell as player roles, specifically in the defence is something that i am looking for help on. thanks in avdvance, fmtobes

I would probably play a more direct counter game in away games and a more direct balanced or control. I would focus the flow through the middle and let the attackers move into channels and make crosses onto each other and have the wingers roam to find free space in the box. The key here is that you have quick attackers and if you can get one more to add some squad depth, then this approach would suit you well

Hi fm experts. I' m looking for some advise on a 4-4-2 formation i wanna try with parma. The thing i wan't your opinions on is the "team instructions". Since i got some pretty decent players what kind of philosophy and strategy can you suggest me? I'm new to 442 in fm11. I've tried it in fm10 but i could never make it gel.

i have played every football manager game since the 2008 edition, but to be honest i'm not great at setting up tactics. in this save, i had a bad start to the season, but finally managed to crawl back up into the champions league qualification spots, and am currently fourth, level with liverpool, three points behind both first-placed manchester city and arsenal in second.

for whatever reason, my players get many shots per games, but more than half are off-target. i also pick up tons of bookings despite the fact that i always tell my players to "stay on feet". finally, my defense is porous, and i almost never keep clean sheets.

i would love to play fast-paced attacking football, sorta like barca does, and i know i have a squad that is capable of fireworks. i have taken out almost all the oldies, and the young'uns are all highly-skilled players. but no matter what i do, they don't perform half as well as they'd be expected to.

in case you're wondering why drogba, anelka or benayoun aren't in the team, and why ashley cole and mikel are leaving on future transfers, it's 'cause my early-season troubles led to major disillusionment, and i botched a team talk early on, leading to mass transfer request madness lol. yeah, i am a bit of a noob, sorry

finally, can you suggest a good attacking midfielder who'll come cheap? i need someone who can either play as my primary playmaker or as a backup to lampard.

if someone can suggest changes to my tactics or even tweak'em for me, that'll be awesome.
