Just seeing what people thoughts are with the free play through?

I've been enjoying it and getting use to the changes big step up from fm26 in my eyes and looking forward to finally deciding on a long-term save

Lad listen up ,
I don't know what other ppl think so far but I'll tell you what I think and only in terms of the match engine and the results originating from this engine.
I think this is among the most useless rubbish match engines EVER released.
I've spoke to my friend arnold and I played the game myself on a couple of saves and I noticed a few things:
first you get caught offside like 10 times a game and the attacking potency of players were nerfed to ****.
Defending nowdays is more manageable in general because both you and the opponent score less.
Secondly it just feels any kind of tactical changes you often make aren't even effective at all ESPECIALLY indivudual instructions.
I also heard winger performances on this engine was nerfed to ****.
Strikers dont score and heck hardly ANYONE does and if they do its just some random factors kicking in.
Unless a side totally dominates in a league for example bayern , behind them the league table in any league can look completely RANDOM and unpredictable not dependant on any objective factor (like ive seen often nottingham forest 3rd or chelsea relegated or some other random **** happening with every league table just randomly scrambled for no apparent reason).
And the results are scripted against you so that random stuff just happen like my friend arnold couldnt even win the league with liverpool (finished second) .

There are basically two scenarios on this fm lad : either the tactic works OK and then you can finish randomly any result from like mid table to winning the league or the tactic don't work so good and then u just get pooped on but there are currently no ways to make a tactic worthwhile and actually overachieve and your team perform good when u build a squad with right players. The only exception is some super high rep clubs with all players on 170+ ca maybe bayern or barca or psg otherwise its just random stuff happening randomly and chaotically.
By the way don't hesitate to SPEAK UP against this abomination of a match engine if you think the way I do.
If you agree with what I say don't let folks who just play along and praise it deter you from speaking honestly lads.

So far not very good. UI is better than last year but still not as good as previously.

ME seems completely RNG, which on the one hand is better but on the other it seems any tactical tweaks actually don't do much at all.

Overall an upgrade on a downgrade is still a downgrade. 24 >>> 27 >>>>>> 26

Lad to be honest with you 26 was WAY better than this **** at least engine wise the last patch on 26 was actually more or less playable and enjoyable heck im already having nostalgia about 26.
If it wasn't for those silly crashdumps i'd probably reinstall 26 right now and play some old saves.

I tried three different systems today with an average team: 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 and 3-5-2, and I can honestly confirm that the results seem completely random. Sometimes the performances and results are completely different, even when using the same approach.

There is no guarantee anymore that if you get off to a good start in the season, you will continue in the same way, unlike previous FM editions. You can have a great run of games and suddenly everything changes without any obvious reason.

I'm starting to get the feeling that tactics and squad building have much less influence on consistency than they used to. And after reading this thread, I can see I'm definitely not the only one experiencing this.

Lads I've spoken to a couple of very knowlegable folks and they told me that apparently this "tactical buy in" and the other stuff or whatever the heck it is like as far as the tactical effectiveness is measured has a huge impact this year and any kind of tactic before and after its fully learned would have NIGHT and DAY performance difference. So try a tactic for a couple of seasons at least and report if you see major differences the second season.

I understand your point, and I agree that tactical familiarity and player buy-in probably play a much bigger role this year. However, I think that's also part of what makes FM27 feel so different from previous editions. In FM26, you could often get a reasonable idea of whether a tactic worked after a few friendlies and the first handful of competitive matches. This year, it seems much harder to separate the actual quality of a tactic from the time required for the players to understand and adapt to it.

My concern is that we're moving away from the idea that a well-constructed tactic should produce relatively consistent performances, even with an average team. I'm happy to give a system a full season, but I also think we should be able to recognise tactical quality without needing two seasons of testing. Otherwise, how do we objectively judge whether a tactic is genuinely good or simply benefiting from familiarity?

Well I think most lads would use some tactic they built over multiple saves for multiple seasons in the long run regardless..
I think its actually some benefit in that you now have to test your ideas over some time to see their effectiveness.
Probably adding some tweaks to tactics would now be more beneficial if the team is already more less familiar with the tactic in general beforehand.

I see you changed opinion 😀
I am happy for you
Enjoy the game 😁
For those guys like me who is obsessed with results and immediate impact I guess we will struggle to adapt 🤣
Or just play FM 26 🤷‍♂️

Its not per say I've changed my opinion yet lad but I've been told by a few folks now including my friend arnold thangs are changing a lot come second season and later after tactical buy in increases. I want to put that claim to the test and see if it holds up with my own eyes before making a definitive conclusion.
I would tell you though my first glance impression of this engine was rather sad but I saw on some lads save the football played is night and day after this "buy in" takes place so I want to give it a go.

Let me know if you enjoy it or no 😄

Started a new unemployed save and decided to experiment with a heavily modified version of my old Moukoko OP tactic from FM24, adapted for FM27.

Here are the results from my first five friendlies, all against teams of similar reputation, with absolutely no tactical familiarity whatsoever:

  • 5-1 win
  • 4-1 win
  • 3-2 win
  • 7-0 win
  • 7-2 win
The philosophy behind the tactic is pretty straightforward: high xG, plenty of chances, high-scoring games and, above all, lots of goals from the strikers.

I always enjoy building attacking tactics that produce entertaining football, create a ridiculous number of chances and get the front line scoring consistently.

Obviously, it's still very early days, and friendlies aren't exactly the best benchmark, but the initial numbers look promising, especially considering there's been no time to build tactical familiarity.

I'm curious to see how it performs once the season gets underway. I'll keep testing and share the results.

On another note, I'm not going to lie, I'm not enjoying FM27 quite as much as I enjoyed FM24 so far. I skipped FM26 because of the whole no-PL bullsh*t, but I'm still not entirely sold on the movement mechanics in this edition. Something just feels a little off to me.

Anyway, I'll post the full-season results if I actually make it that far! 😅

My triple poacher tactic that dominated FM26 for me as got my Bournemouth team in the relegation zone come the New Year and in serious danger of the sack. In desperation I've recreated Veez's FM21 Fearless and Strikerless 4123 as best I can and it seems to be working. We've arrested the slide and got 5 wins on the bounce. Certainly a bit more challenging! I like the whole tactical buy in piece. Makes sense.

On a positive note. UI improved - still not as good as FM24 tho a decade of muscle memory will do that. Tab headings make more sence (Tho i'd still prefer a sidebar).

Ah yes, final thought. 2d view is 10000% better than FM26, thank god.

Ok guys i agree with the ones saying match engine is bad...I disagree with the buy in shenanigans what the **** is that when i pick manager with continental licence i mean top of the top do the players need to buy in to my tactics ? :D thats crazy...also what the **** is the match engine doing...i mean the eye pleasing factor its just so bad it does not even resemble football every shot is blocked gegenpressing dont work which is infact the most used and most popular strategy among big clubs the AI packs 9 players into penalty area all shots just blocked by them some random shots can ricochet and end in goal but mostly blocked. Wingers and IFs IWs APs on wing and WFDs just sitting and making 3 metter runs back and forth in opposition penalty area practicaly my 5 and oposition 8 players clogged in and around penalty area. Real life tactic recreations does not work i dont care about the results if i lose 5:0 but like i said i care about the eye test if the players and the ME is not doing anything close to what i know should be doing from watching and playing real life football my whole life then something is wrong. Its just so so bad but that is just my oppinion you can agree or disagree i dont care i supported the company in fm 26 even tho i played it for two full seasons...But this time im refusing to do that they cant even copy a match engine properly+ the menu is atrocious the message area and the background colors i dont read any messages because of that it just blends together.

For any lads that have played some save already into at least the second season:
do you notice some kind of a significant performance boost to your squad after the buy-in or whatever heck its called (tactical cohesion I guess) improves and everyone is gelled and settled in and familiar with your tactics?
I would like to know if there is really a consistent theme of the football improving after a while or it just being some random factors kicking in. I feel on this fm there are some absolutely out-of-the-blue randomness that can suddenly make your team play really good or really bad for no apparent reason but do share with me feedback. I cba to play the game much atm , I guess I'll wait until the full release and see how thangs are by then.

Honestly, I’m having a great time. After an initial sense of tactical disorientation, I’ve figured out what works and what doesn’t through a fair bit of trial and error. Right now, I’m testing a tactic across two different saves with teams of varying levels, and I’m really pleased with it. The team plays exactly the way I wanted them to—and, finally, it’s not just that **** *gegenpress*. I’m really enjoying myself.
