what is the most effective tactic and how do you have the players set up for that tactic?

I've only ever got one tactic to work for consistently for my Liverpool side and it was basicly a 4-4-2 but with AML and AMR instead of the normal ML and MR.

I had the width set to wide, mixed passing, high tempo, focus passing down the wings, and use target men.

I usually play that formation but it all depends on what club you are and the quality of players.

My 4-2-2-2 C tactic has worked wonders for me.

It's because you don't know how to motivate the team!

Grab a whip in half time, -always- say you want improvement.

And when you win always say it was brilliant, and make individual praises on everyone with a rating of 9 or 10.

Yeh I always do that. I was losing 5-0 at half time to Arsenal(A) and I was Reading (still in the Champ.) and I told them that I expected nothing less than a win and my players absolutely battered them in the 2nd half. But only ended up 5-4 :(

My tactic for Man United is 4 at the back, Neville Rio King Heinze then I had a DM who was either Arouca or De Jong, then i had a MC usually smith or somebody like that, then AML AMC AMR, and then a Striker up front. The AMC has a free role, if you want to know how good it is have a look at my records page on the Records Thread to see how well my team have performed with it.

I use 4-4-2 diamond too, but it all depends on your sliders, don't expect lower league teams to be able to play the same quick, short passing formation as Chelsea or Man U, you'll need to set up more defensive in mentality, with direct passing, less tempo, less creative freedom, and depending on how quick the opposition strikers are, you'll want to play deeper if they are quick.

I more or less always use the same 4-5-1 tactic!! With a DM, MR, ML and 2 AMC's in midfield!!

Usually set with a bit more attacking and creative freedom, and set them short passing with a high tempo and closing down on often!!!

Mostly use the preset tactics for individual settings but change the DM so he rarely makes forward runs!!

And this has worked well for me every team I have been apart from Nott'm Forest where i had to go bit more defensive!

yeh i find that against some big teams in the Champ League i have to drop one of the AMC's into an MC position!! If not then the team I'm playin usually rip through my midfield!!

Look at the Barceloana's tactic...
4-2-3-1
4 defence / 2 MC ( to turn towards DM ) / 3 AMC ( 2 players to turn towards AML and AMR ) and 1 Striker (Like a John Carew from O.Lyon. Player Must be Strong Heading)

and hadle Team tactic...
