What Roles and Duties Best suit my players?

im like into my 5th season with united and i changed my formation around to have a striker up front with AML, AMC, AMR behind him but Rooney wont score he keeps shooting them over with too much power etc what role would be best? complete forward hes just inconsistent and poacher he never does anything really.

try with deeplaying forward attack also play around with his creativity freedom

maybe u should try him as a deeplaying forward support or attack depends on who u play him with
or even terquartista

Just signed this French regen for St Mirren, what role should I train him in and does he need his position retrained?

ball winning midfielder support if you play him as a mid
and winger support if you play him on the flank

please help me with Alberto Gilardino( Fiorentina ).
in my first season I used this tactic:

he played as a striker.
he wasnt working well for me, I couldnt find him the right roll and he scored only 10 goals in my first season!
can someone suggest me the best roll for him and maybe some Individual orders to make him play better?

Rooney should be a complete forward - support
Ronaldo should be and inside forward if you play him on the wing
Messi should be an inside forward if he's on the wing or tequarista if upfront
and if they don't play well give them time to gel together. new signings with big names need time.

I use JP Woodys 4-2-4 Formation and i'm not sure who to use and who to leave out. What roles/positions should I use these players in. The positions that can be used are.. DMC, CM x2, AMR, AML & ST.
