What Tactic Suits My Team?

I feel quite embarrassed as I don't seem to be able to device a good tactic for Manchester City........ Quite new to the game as the last football manager I played was at the turn of the century or so, just learning, which was the reason for taking Man C in the first place.

First of I'm actually looking for three kinds of tactics. Attacking, standard/controlling and defensive. Atm I'm playing 4-1-2-1-2 (442 diamond) which I can set on those settings. I the beginning things seemed to go very well defeating Man U 2-0 and trashing all teams in the Euro qualification (10/12-0 aggregates). The third competition fixture of the season however I got owned by Arsenal 0-7 (!) and that's when things started to go bad. Ofc I didn't like the beating but it could happen and Arsenal was hot atm. However the next games against Bolton, Aston Villa, Everton and Portsmouth left me with 1 win and 3 losses. And the win was a bad one, 1-0 at home but I wasn't the best team.

One more thing, I tend not to like 4-4-2 standard. Don't know what it is, but it has been an obsession not to play 442 in every manager game I had and if possible I like to continue doing that.

As said I play 4-1-2-1-2 and have the following players:

GK: Given/Hart
DL/DR: Bridge, Vertonghen, Andsaidi, Richards, Garrido, Onucha
DC: Vertonghen, kompany, Dunne, Zapata, Glauber
MC: Kuzmanovic, Johnson, Ireland, Diarra, de Jong, Veloso, Vukivic, Elano, Fernandes
ST: Vagner L, Robinho, Bellamy, Caciedo

Viewing the above players a setup with a DMC and a AMC seems obvious, some of my best players occupy those positions. However the formation seems overly vunerable to pressing backs. Anyone got any tips for this noob?

I just want to ask. I am currently using manchester United with this players:
GK:Lloris, Foster
DR:Simpson,Lorenzo de Silvestri
DL:Evra. Omar Esparza
DC:Ferdinand, Vidic, Evans and Pique
AMR:Messi, Obertan
AML: Nani, Ronaldo
MC:Fletcher, Anderson, Carrick, Nuri sahin, Miguel Veloso
ST:Rooney, Tevez, Marquinhos, Thierry Henry

and also a backup players: Alex teixeira (I use him when I am out of option on attacking position).

I play with some attacking style.
Both winger will swap their position and so both strikers up front.
2 midfield in the center.. One at the left act as attacking midfield (usually I put Anderson or Nuri sahin because they both are left footed) and the one on the right act as defensive midfield(usually I put Veloso or Carrick).
This style currently give many high goal scoring.
The problem with my team is sometimes makes some silly mistakes at defence.
This of course I'm refer to my defender combination.
Any idea on how to improve my backline and other tips on making my team more dangerous???

i am At Madrid in first season i have not bought anyone i need good tactic plesae i am currently useing jp woody

Give this new one a go mate and let me know how it works,im doing ok with it at the moment:

Not really,Quck wingers and forwards help and your right sided CM has more defensive mentality and the left CM is the more creative one.

Well this is my team:
GK- Buffon/Victor Valdes
CB-Puyol/Vidic/Ferdinand/Marquez
DMC- Pirlo/Mascherano
MC- Gerrard/Xavi/Essien
LW- Ronaldinho
RW- Cristiano Ronaldo
AMC- Kaka/Messi
ST- Villa/Eto'o/Torres

I need a tactic for this team as my current one isnt working very well. Here's it:

-------------GK---------------
-----CB------CB------CB------
-------------DMC-------------
---------MC------MC----------
----AMC-----AMC-----AMC----
-------------ST---------------

LOL You haven't cheated then!

4321 no wingers

Has anyone used a successful 4321 with no wingers, see below

GK
RB CB CB LB
CM CM CM
AM AM
ST

My idea is that the full backs will give the width, 1 CM with a back arrow and the more defensive minded, the other 2 as box to box players with mixed forward runs while the 2 AMCs would be flair players and can do the unexpected with both having free roles to wreak havoc and the striker I see as a complete forward and has everything to his game.

Has anyone used a similar tactic or can point me in the right direction with it, cheers.

This will be used with a top team, another similar formation that i wouldnt mind using is 41212, again the full back giving the width so that would be GK,RB,LB,CB,CB,DM,CM,CM,AM,ST,ST

need decent tactics ipswich

I am starting with the current squad (Ipswich Town) and every time i start a new season i do well for about 6 games then cant get a win or draw from anywhere. Any suggestions would be most helpful.

I just started new game with Inter. I didn't buy anyone yet because Inter side is very strong in all areas. I played a couple of games with some 442 tactic(don't know it's name) with solid results. can I play 433 tactic with inter current squad, like Mourinho did with Chelsea? suggestions?:D:D

Hey I just started playing this game, I'm not doing that bad, I am unbeaten - although I had to quit a couple of times and reload the game :P. But anyway, I want a new tactic sort of because, I do score and win games but I've rarely/never got past 5, even though they've had LOADS of chances. E.G I beat Tottenham 2-0 or 3-0 when it could have easily been 5-0. All my strikers USUALLY miss when it's a one on one situation, they either hit it to high and wide or hit it directly at the goal keeper - Is there anyway to make them actually put it in the net? BTW could anyone who knows a lot about installing tactics and things add me on msn? Like give there MSN or something because I got to ask a question to. Anyway thanks! Also could anyone maybe give me another formation if you think this one is bad.

Look at my post above yours, get the first image and try that, I didn't really do nothing with the players except forward runs, through balls for mid etc. It should work okay with your team.

I'm really struggling with my ath madrid side at the moment, i've won the league a few times and the cup but never the CL, and right now, they have been awful in the CL. Ronaldos been awful, Agueros been awful, Diego has been useless ever since i bought him, ive never said that about him before, ive got 70 odd mill in the kitty, but im sure my tactics are just not working, help plz! (i'm on 9.1 btw)

I really need help. I cannot manage to beat the big teams. What tactics should I use?
