I feel quite embarrassed as I don't seem to be able to device a good tactic for Manchester City........ Quite new to the game as the last football manager I played was at the turn of the century or so, just learning, which was the reason for taking Man C in the first place.
First of I'm actually looking for three kinds of tactics. Attacking, standard/controlling and defensive. Atm I'm playing 4-1-2-1-2 (442 diamond) which I can set on those settings. I the beginning things seemed to go very well defeating Man U 2-0 and trashing all teams in the Euro qualification (10/12-0 aggregates). The third competition fixture of the season however I got owned by Arsenal 0-7 (!) and that's when things started to go bad. Ofc I didn't like the beating but it could happen and Arsenal was hot atm. However the next games against Bolton, Aston Villa, Everton and Portsmouth left me with 1 win and 3 losses. And the win was a bad one, 1-0 at home but I wasn't the best team.
One more thing, I tend not to like 4-4-2 standard. Don't know what it is, but it has been an obsession not to play 442 in every manager game I had and if possible I like to continue doing that.
As said I play 4-1-2-1-2 and have the following players:
GK: Given/Hart
DL/DR: Bridge, Vertonghen, Andsaidi, Richards, Garrido, Onucha
DC: Vertonghen, kompany, Dunne, Zapata, Glauber
MC: Kuzmanovic, Johnson, Ireland, Diarra, de Jong, Veloso, Vukivic, Elano, Fernandes
ST: Vagner L, Robinho, Bellamy, Caciedo
Viewing the above players a setup with a DMC and a AMC seems obvious, some of my best players occupy those positions. However the formation seems overly vunerable to pressing backs. Anyone got any tips for this noob?
