Balotelli - £22.5m, he joined the team, cried, got angry, cried some more and ended up in the reserves.
Huddlestone - £17m, fans doubted his ability but contributed well to my treble with Man Utd.
Agbonlahor - £19m, only just signed him so I'll give him time to gel.

Personally, every transfer is a risk. You can buy players with 18 in almost every stat, and they can be useless. Although, financially, biggest risk transfer for me was signing Thomas Muller for Barcelona. Paid 28m, took him ages to get playing well, but ended up being my best signing.

Tried to sign Joe Hart for Leicester in my 1st season in the Prem, wouldn't even disucss a contract. Tried about 10 other keepers, all wanted 80k a week or wouldn't even talk to me.

In the end signed Forster from Newcastle for £1.2m, considering he was unproven in the prem, and is still pretty young, I felt it a bit of a risk to get him straight in my team as 1st choice goalie, but he has performed awesome so far and has been dubbed the new David Seaman. :)

Paid 170M for messi on fm 10 for liverpool. He was a total flop and couldnt adjust to thee lifestyle so sold him 3 years later for 54M... Took a loss of 116M and 275k a week in wages. Lucky i had a tycoon chairman that kept pumping money in though :)

170m for one player? Woooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

Signing Chiellini for £42,000,000 with Chelsea in my First season

Bryan Ruiz for Villa for 12.5 mil. That's about half of my budget, I'm hoping he performs well.

I usually manage smaller clubs so rarely have the money to splash out like many of you guys. I did have a very long game with PSG on fm09, where I played a narrow diamond formation for about 7 seasons (with phenominal success). Then liverpool were relegated, and I used my entire budget (around £40m) to sign a world class regen winger from them. I had to change my tactics completely, and ended up finishing 5th after 7 straight league title wins, The german wonder winger flopped big time.....a major risk that seriously backfired. I was lucky to keep my job really - had it been real life the media would have hung me out to dry :(

20m for Mirko Vucinic. Has been alright as a Torres replacement. Something like 10 goals in 21 games.

Buying a regen from Middlesbrough called Sam Smith for £43.5million.

Extreme fail.

Sold him to Chelsea for £35.75million less than what I paid for him, and is still doing ****.

Second season with Leicester. Whole window has been a risk. Sold a lot of players I didn't believe good enough for the Premier League.

My biggest risk out of them though is definitely Clint Dempsey at 2.9M

Took a risk on Costin Lazar with Bolton using my whole budget on him (925k) but so far has been excellen so really happy

On FM10, I was managing a lower league Italian team. It took me ages to get promoted to Serie A, and when I finally did it was 2014with consecutive promotions. I got extremely lucky in a playoff winning on pens. I signed Marco Verratti for 11m. I had 500k left to spend after that, and I used it as a loan fee for a few players. There were some good free players going around, so it looked good for me ;)

Two games in he has 3 yellow, a red in second game. I was very disappointed with him, but he was still my best player.
He was consistantly getting 6/7's in most matches and was a real flop. I wasted loads of money on him, after his great performance in the world cup. Worst signing ever. I got a sugar daddy chairman, then I got sacked for being 2nd bottom. He cost me my job!!!

Luckily there was an opening at 16th position Brescia! I got bored with the game after my first ever fm10 sacking :'(

56 million on Ronaldo and 40 million on Kaka in FM 2010 with Milan, in the same season. But thanks to them I trashed everyone in the game in 3 straight seasons. ^^

I also spent £2m on a transfer listed scott parker in a stalybridge celtic game (my entire budget) and the 33 year old got crocked in pre season - out until february! I still somehow managed promotion to the prem that season though :$

Every transfer I make are risks.
Some work out, some don't.
Thats football.

Possibly the hardest thing to get right, getting promoted but having a squad so far off the pace you are forced to make around 5 signings, no matter what. And going into almost every game favourite to lose, it's hard for players to gel etc.

Fair play to Ian Halloway at Blackpool!

I signed Frederic Nimani when i was Burnley in FM10. Signed him for 9mil in the January as I was in need of a forward. Spent 9mil on him. It was a gamble that did NOT pay off. He was awful he only scored one goal for me! I sold him in the summer for 9mil! Gosh I do love Man City sometimes.

I love it when Man City come in and buy the people you want to sell for insanely high prices - not when they come in to take your best players and unsettle them!

Second season as Notts Forest, debut in the Premier League.

Brought in Scott Parker (£4.7), Wesley Sonck (£675k), Yossi Benayoun (£5m) and some bloke called Miranda (£7.5m) who I initially thought to be the opposite ***, but there you go.

Spent the vast majority of my £21m budget (very kind of the board, I reckon) and so far only Scotty Parker has lived up to any kind of reputation - I made him my captain and he's bagged 6 goals and 5 assists in 14 games, can't argue with that. Then again, pretty much everyone I've signed this season has been a flop (including the usually reliable goal machine Lukaku, on loan from United) so I'd say I'm fortunate to be in 15th going into Christmas...
