What's a Basque player?

I was playing as Athletic and tried to buy Wilshere, then suddenly a :"Athletic are not allowed to sign non Basque players"

Whats that?
 
a Basque player is a Spanish player from the region of Basque in Spain :)

if you look on their personal page you will see that his first nationality is Spanish, then basque

The Basque Country (Basque: Euskal Herria) is the name given to the home of the Basque people in the western Pyrenees that spans the border between France and Spain on the Atlantic coast.

Even though they are not necessarily synonyms, the concept of a single culturally Basque area spanning various regions and countries has been closely associated since its very inception to the politics of Basque nationalism. As such, the region is considered home to the Basque people (Basque: Euskaldunak), their language (Basque: Euskara), culture and traditions. Nevertheless the area is neither linguistically nor culturally homogeneous, and the very Basqueness of parts of it, such as southern Navarre, remains a very contentious issue.

Bilbao are known for this thing. no player who wasn't a basque have ever played for this team ( in the entire history) . Lizarazu who is french played for them but his parents are basques
 
Raikan007, but he doesn't know what is a BASQUE, not in the game, he don't realise that Basque people exist in the world. I don't negate the fact, that he asked and you gave him the answer, but people should have primary knowlegde.

I understand but as I said, it is a forum, yes there are some really stupid questions and threads that are started, however this was a valid question and thread...

I am quite sure there are many things that you dont know and many things I dont know but if you have nothing useful to add, do not comment! its simple :)

A Basque player isn't Spanish or anything he is Basque! Basque people live in France and Spain. Saying that Basque players are Spanish is like saying Welsh people are English. I don't think they like to be called Spanish or French. If I was Basque and was called French or Spanish I would take that as an insult.

He ain't French then, he is just Basque... His passport might say "Citizen of France" but not that he is French by ethnicity.

A Turk living in Germany isn't German either, he is still Turkish! You can't suddenly change nationality because you live in another country.

Because Great Britain conquered 1/3 of the world they didn't become English because they lived inside the border of the UK. I hope you understand.

I think what he means is on FM they are Spanish as there is no Basque nation.

We got it, but in-game the nationality of the players are Spanish/French.

Like Xabi Alonso, he's Basque, but is also obviously Spanish.

Only if you using a custom database. Their first nationality will be Spanish, and then under other nationalities will be Basque
 
Thanks guys, my game is going on quite well now, even though it's quite hard to play without foreign talent.

It is, but it's an entertaining challenge man.

You can get some great regens, players like Javi Martinez and Fernando Llorente, youth's like Iker Muanin (sp), and look at players like Kevin from Zaragoza

Yes I know, but my point is that the Basque nation is represented in the game. How would the games engine determine who is Basque or not if the Basque nation wasn't represented in the game? If the Basque wasn't represented Bilbao could say all the players they wanted.

I don't use a custom database by the way.

There is a Basque team IRL that play occasionally, but not in-game.

exactly :) they are not going to be called up to the Basque national team are they? :) they will play for Spain in real life and in Fm....
 
I bought a player called "Vidal" cdm for 29mil he's the best player in my team "MAN UNTD" 3 & half stars.

scored 3 goals rating 7.40

Also bought brett emerton for 38mil i know he's not worth that but i'm australian and couldnt resist.
