Hi, now that FM 16 beta is out, I wanted to start a new long save story. This story will be different because I will be writing two stories in this football universe but will be in two different threads. One will be a club story and the other will be a national team story. This thread here will be a club story. Some of the player transfer in the beginning will be a bit different as I really didn't want to edit. So I hope you guys will enjoy it.

Toronto FC Fires Ryan Nelson; Jermain Defoe Unhappy with Club

Star striker is reporting wanting to leave club after head coach was sacked

View attachment 218598View attachment 218597

August 31, 2014- Head coach Ryan Nelsonand five assistants were released today after a 3-0 loss to the NewEngland Revolution at home. And their a big question on Jermain Defoefuture with the club.

The latest grand vision for Toronto FCmay not be in tatters. But a team that can't seem to step forwardwithout taking two step back has hit another huge bump in theroad.

Greg Vanney, the club assistant General Manager andacademy director, will take over duties as an interim - their 9th in 8 years - until the endof the season. His biggest challenge will be the confusion of JermainDefoe's future and the roster freeze on Sept 15.

Tim Leiweke,CEO of Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment, and general managerTim Bezbatchenko both pointed the finger at the 9-9-6 club's recentlacklustre performances in making the move to remove Nelsentwo-thirds of the way through his second season at the helm.

"The team obviously not only did not play well but we reallydidn't show up," Leiweke told The Canadian Press in aninterview. "And people pay good money to come see these games."

"We are in a results-oriented business," Bezbatchenkotold a hastily called news conference Sunday at the team's northToronto training facility. "And over the past 13 matches, we'vewon three games. More important for our fans in Toronto, we've wonone game in the past six matches ... I know we can get more out ofthis group of guys."

Whether Defoe is one of them is unclear.

With 11 goals in 16 games, the star forward has clearly shown that he can score in this league when healthy. But a source close to the situation told The Canadian Press that Defoe doesn't like the direction of the club and wants out, with England's Queens Park Rangers a likely destination.

Bezbatchenko confirmed that the MLS team has received an offer for the 31-year-old England striker, who is currently back in England dealing with a groin injury.

He too said he expects to hang onto the striker. But he added "If you're not 100 per cent committed in what we're doing, then we have to sit down and talk and figure out what's the best plan of action."

Translation, Defoe is gone unless he wants to be here. Or can be convinced to stay here.
"If things change then we'll adjust," Bezbatchenko said.

And if Defoe does go, Toronto will expect "a lot of money. More than we paid for him," he added.
Defoe, whose signing was billed by the team as "a ****** big deal" and seen as a showcase acquisition for the North American league, may end up in quickie divorce.

TFC has not won since July 12

Toronto's record over the last 13 gamesis 3-5-5. It has not won at home since July 12, going 0-2-2 at BMOField since. The team has also given up bad goals and late goals.

Against New England, Toronto was down 2-0 by the 21st minute afterRevolution players pounced on giveaways and then drove unimpeded atgoal.

The club stands fourth in the East, tied with New England andColumbus, in the playoff hunt.
The 36-year-old Nelsen leaves with a league record of 15-26-17.None of the seven coaches before him notched more wins.

GM accuses of sabotage

View attachment 218596

Knowing that the axe was poised, Nelsen accused Bezbatchenko ofeffectively sabotaging his own team by unnecessarily raising thestakes before a match that was not crucial, given there were 10 moreremaining after it.

"I've won this league, played in it for four years, been inthe [English] Premier League for 10 years, played in a WorldCup, Olympics. I've played in some pretty hot pressure games,"said Nelsen, a former New Zealand international defender. "Onething that I do know is this was not one of them."

The inference was clear. Nelsen had paid his dues in the game.Bezbatchenko, a 32-year-old rookie GM hired out of the league officeby Leiweke last September, hadn't.

"It affected the guys," Nelsen said of Bezbatchenko'swords. "What we do at Toronto FC is we keep it in-house —everything we do, we keep inside the four walls. And the players, coaching staff, everything, stays within the four walls."

"I think they're excuses and we're just not in the excusebusiness here," said Bezbatchenko. "And so we're happy toturn the page here and forge a new future that's based on the visionthat we've had since I've been here and Tim Leiweke came in.

Vanney, who played professionally in MLS and France, follows MoJohnston, John Carver, Chris Cummins, Preki, Nick Dasovic, AronWinter, Paul Mariner and Nelsen as manager.

Only Carver (11) and Nelsen (15) managed double-digit wins intheir tenure.

Assistant coaches Fran O'Leary, Jim Brennan, Duncan Oughton, aswell as goalkeeping coach Stewart Kerr and strength and conditioningcoach Adrian Lamb were all fired. Assistant coach Jason Bent wasoffered a position to remain with the team.

Brennan was the franchise's first team and captain.

The club wasted little time removing evidence of them. Photos ofthe coaching staff that hung at the TFC training facility were goneSunday, although Nelsen's empty parking space still bore his name.

[h=1]Toronto FC eliminated from playoff contention[/h]View attachment 218571

Toronto FC interim manager Greg Vanney meets with the media to comment onthe mood surrounding TFC not making the playoffs. - October 18, 2014

This was the final humiliation.

It’s bad enough that Jermain Defoe has, in all likelihood, played his final game in a Toronto FC uniform. It’s bad enough thatthe Reds were missing chief midfield operator Michael Bradley throughsuspension in a must-win game. And it was bad enough that somedisgruntled home fans held up a banner that read, “It’s a bloodybig joke.”

View attachment 218570

But to be officially eliminated from playoff contention by thelast-place Montreal Impact? Well, ain’t that a kick in the head?

Toronto’s 1-1 draw vs their Canadian rivals on Saturdayafternoon officially ended the Reds’ playoff hopes for an eighthconsecutive year. TFC needed to win this game and next week on theroad against the New England Revolution—and hoped the Columbus Crewlost both of its final matches—to squeak into the post-season.

Final standing of the Eastern Conference (October 25th, 2014)

For the “glass is half full crowd,” you can hang your hat onthe fact that TFC set club records this season for wins (11) andpoints (41).

But there’s no way to put a positive spin on this.

Bluntly, the 2014 Major League Soccer campaign has been a failurefor Toronto FC. The one goal that mattered wasn’t achieved. Afterthe MLSE hype machine went into overdrive following the massiveoutlay of funds in retooling the roster, it was playoffs or bust. Tolook for silver linings is misguided and counter-productive, and itlets MLSE and team management off the hook—they shouldn’t beenabled, they should be held accountable. It’s the only way thisplayoff drought will ever end.

Critically, TFC collected just two wins and earned a measly eightpoints (out of a possible 27) since Greg Vanney replaced Ryan Nelsenas coach on Aug. 31.

History will record that Toronto FC was officially eliminated fromthe playoff race on Oct. 18. The truth is, however, that TFC was outof it following a disastrous summer under Nelsen. They were simply ona fool’s errand the past two months.

“You have to execute. You have to take points. … Effort is onething, but execution and finishing games, and taking points are whatprofessional sports are about. We put in the effort but we didn’texecute well enough,” Vanney told reporters after Saturday’scontest.

“We should never have this feeling again. This should be thelast time. This will be the last time we don’t make the playoffs. That mentality needs to start immediately,” Vanney stated.

A chippy opening to the game gave way to a wonderful goal byToronto’s Warren Creavalle in the 20th minute. Montreal failed toclear its lines off a TFC throw-in, with the ball eventually fallinginside the box to an unmarked Creavalle, who expertly slotted home aside-footed shot just inside the far post.

View attachment 218564

Montreal levelled the score with six minutes left in the half.Patrice Bernier played a long pass forward for Andres Romero, and theArgentine held up the ball nicely before laying it off to Felipe whofound the top corner. It was a lovely strike by Felipe, but the factthat TFC’s defence was left exposed—neither Collen Warner norJonathan Osorio tracked back to help—meant the Brazilian had allkinds of time to get the shot off.

The Impact caught TFC napping early in the second half whenMartins sent Jack McInerney in on goal with a perfect through ball.McInerney, though, hit the crossbar from deep inside the penaltyarea. Later, Martins hit a bullet of a shot that was destined for theupper corner, only to see TFC goalkeeper Joe Bendik brilliantly parryit away.

View attachment 218563

Toronto furiously pressed for an equalizer, as Gilberto flashed aheader just wide, an Impact keeper Evan Bush made a fabulous reflexsave at the near post to rob Dominic Oduro of a sure goal.

Montreal was controversially reduced to 10 men in the 82th minutewhen defender Heath Pearce earned a red card for a late challenge onOduro. More expulsions followed (for Osorio and Montreal’s HassounCamara), and TFC were serenaded off the pitch by a chorus of boosfrom the disgruntled crowd after the final whistle.

“It’s for us to prove that we’re worthy of [the fans’]continued support. I hope and ask them to continue to support thisteam because I do believe 100 percent we’re moving forward andwe’ll be a playoff team,” Vanney offered.

DP's Jermain Defoe, Gilberto Out; New DP's Jozy Altidore, Giovinco In

Plus new transfer buzz around the club before selecting a new manager- December 15th, 2014-

View attachment 218424

The Jermain Defoe transfer saga is finally over, with Toronto FC selling the England star striker to Sunderland.

A source confirmed the deal, which ends Defoe’s roller-coaster year in Major League Soccer.

Toronto had been looking to send Defoe to Sunderland with U.S.international forward Jozy Altidore and cash coming back to TFC.

Defoe’s future has been cloudy since Toronto turned down a franchise-record transfer fee from an English team at the end of the summer transfer window.

That turned into a soap opera and Toronto execs were determined to resolve the matter in the January transfer window before Defoe’s return date of Jan. 17.

Defoe returned to England for injury rehab as rumours swirled about his future. And Toronto (11-15-8) failed to make the playoffs for the eighth straight year.

A double-decker bus was parked outside the news conference where Tim Leiweke, president and CEO of Maple Leaf Sports &Entertainment, touted the signing of what TFC billed as a “global football superstar.”

At some $10 million (U.S.) apiece, Defoe and Bradley each broke the MLS record for transfer fees. Toronto had started the spending spree in December by signing Brazilian forward Gilberto, another marquee designated player.

The club trumpeted the signing of Defoe with a marketing campaign titled “It’s A ****** Big Deal,” a slogan it perhaps began to regret as the forward’s future became murkier and the losses mounted as the season wore on.

Toronto FC signed United States international forward Jozy Altidore as a Designated Player as the club has agreed to transfer forward Jermain Defoe to Sunderland.

“Our top priority is building a winning club with players that are committed to the TFC vision. Jozy is a special player, and checks off all of the boxes that we look for in a player. We are excited to finalize this deal and bring him to Toronto FC,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “It became clear that a return for Jermain to the English Premier League was going to be in the best interests of both sides. We’d like to thank Jermain for his contributions to Toronto FC and wish him well.”

Altidore, 25, was in his second season with Sunderland, where he appeared in a combined 52 matches, scoring three goals for the club.

Also Toronto FC announced Monday that it has signed Italian international midfielder Sebastian Giovinco as a Designated Player. Giovinco was supposed to join Toronto FC at the conclusion of the Italian Serie A season but will join just before the pre-season.

“Today marks a very special day for Toronto FC with the addition of Sebastian Giovinco. Seba is in the prime of his career and he has chosen to join Toronto FC and MLS at a time when many of the top clubs in the world were pursuing him,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “We are very pleased to bring a fantastic player to Toronto FC for our club and for our fans, especially those in the Italian community.”

Giovinco, 27, played six season at Juventus, where he has made a combined 130 appearances scoring 20 goals with 23 assists across Italian Serie A, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europ aLeague, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana play.

“I am excited to sign with Toronto FC today and look forward to joining the club this summer,” said Sebastian Giovinco. “I have heard so many great things about Toronto over the years and I know that it will be a city that I feel right at home in. Until then, I have many things I still want to accomplish for Juventus and our fans. I will always give my heart and soul for Juve until I change shirts this winter.”

View attachment 218421

With Giovinco joining the club,Toronto FC will have 4 Designated Players, where as the league only allow 3 so the club announced Friday that the club has loaned striker Gilberto to Brazilian Série A club, CR Vasco da Gama.
“This move was necessary in order for us to be roster and budget compliant for the start of the 2015 season.

While necessary it also allows us to gain flexibility and options both today and in the future,” said Toronto FC General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “We’d like to thank Gilberto for his contributions to Toronto FC and wish him well this season.”

Gilberto was originally signed as a Designated Player on December 13, 2013. Last season he made 32 combined appearances, scoring seven goals with five assists in MLS regular season and Amway Canadian Championship play.

Other key signing during the Club off-season including Damien Perquis and Benoit Cheyrou from Real Betis and Marseille, respectively, on free transfer. Other signing that will be joining the club will be Ahmed Kantari from Lens, France, Herculez Gomez from Tijuana, Mexico, Josh Williams claimed from waivers from expansion club New York City FC, Robbie Findley and Marky Delgado were claimed through Wavier drafts, Jay Chapman was promoted to first team from TFC Academy and Alex Bono, Eriq Zavaleta and Clement Simonin were all drafted in the Superdraft.

Key losses to the club was both club captain Steven Caldwell and Toronto's Icon Dwayne De Rosario both retired at the end of the season. Jeremy Hall joined New England Revolution, Kyle Bekker and Dominic Oduro joined Montreal Impacts, Warren Creaville joined Philadelphia Unions, Doneil Henry joined West Ham United, Bradley Orr returned to Blackburn Rovers, and Andrew Wiedeman, Ryan Richter, and Bright dike were all released on free transfer.

what is a designated player?

The rule allows each MLS franchise tosign players that would be considered outside of the team's salarycap (either by offering the player higher wages or by paying atransfer fee for the player), allowing MLS teams to compete for starplayers in the international soccer market.

Designated Players will carry a salary budget charge of $350,000, unless the player joins his club in the middle of the season, in which case his budget charge will be $175,000.

So if the salary (wages) cap is $2 million per year, a DesignatedPlayer can more in their salary but it will only count as $350,000 ofthe $2 million. Clubs can only have up to 3 DPs.

An easy example is Steven Gerrard makes $6 million per year butwill only add up to 350,000 of the 3.5 million of the MLS cap

Toronto FC
(TFC) is a Canadian professional football club based in Toronto, Ontario that competes in Major League Soccer (MLS), in the Eastern Conference of the league. The team plays home matches at their soccer-specific BMO Field, located in Exhibition Place along the western part of the Toronto lake shore.

Toronto FC, founded in 2005 but started to play in 2007, was MLS's fourteenth, and first Canadian, franchise in the league. The team is coached by Greg Vanney and operated by Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, which also operates the National Hockey League'sToronto Maple Leafs, the American Hockey League's Toronto Marlies, the National Basketball Association's Toronto Raptors (and the NBA Development League's Raptors 905 by extension)and the United Soccer League's Toronto FC II.

Toronto FC are the most successful team in the Canadian Championship, winning it four consecutive times between 2009 and 2012. They first qualified for the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2015(for the purpose of this story, its start before Toronto 1st ever playoff qualification). The team's most significant continental achievement is reaching the semifinals of the 2011–12 CONCACAF Champions League.

Toronto FC's recognized supporters' groups are the Red Patch Boys, U-Sector, Inebriatti, Kings in the North, Tribal Rhythm Nation and Original 109.

The club plays its game at the newly renovated BMO Field with a capacity of 30,991. Before the 2015 season, the stadium was expanded by 8,400 seats and will include a roof, new suites and washroom that will be completed by May 2016.

The club also plays at the Roger Centre (formerly known as the Skydome) owned by Major League Baseball's Toronto Blue Jays and is usually played during the early season (harsh Canadian weather) and (marquee-events).

View attachment 218395

KIA Training Ground is where the club trains. Located in Downsview Park at North York (couple minutes from Toronto). Built at a cost of$21 million to MLSE, the facility has seven pitches: three full-sized grass pitches and four artificial turfs with two capable of being bubbled for year-round use. The 36,000 square foot facility also contains first team facilities, gym, kitchen, and offices.

Toronto FC's biggest rival, Montreal Impact, joined MLS in 2012. In the years leading up to this, they emerged as fierce rivals during the Canadian Championship. The proximity of the two cities and the fact that Toronto and Montreal are long-standing rivals in NHL ice hockey contributes to these meetings being combative. Since both teams have joined MLS, the rivalry has intensified and the matches have become a Canadian soccer classic, which has also been named the 401 Derby, named after Ontario Highway 401 linking the two cities.

View attachment 218390

Columbus Crew and Toronto FC have competed for the Trillium Cup since 2008. Although a manufactured rivalry, the meeting shave since sparked bitterness. On March 28, 2009, approximately 1,700 Toronto FC supporters travelled to Columbus Crew Stadium and witnessed a 1–1 draw, during which they lit a number of flares and allegedly committed vandalism. Following the game some altercations broke out between the two supporter groups. Overwhelmed security called police who ended the melees and made arrests, at which time a TFC fan was tasered while being subdued. Thefirst rematch back in Columbus Crew Stadium following the incident was boycotted by Toronto FC supporters in wake of restrictions imposed on them by Crew officials.
View attachment 218389

Toronto Other rivalry is the Vancouver Whitecaps

Through out Toronto FC 9 year history, it has been marred with disappointment as the club never qualified to the MLS playoffs. The club went through 9 managers in 9 years, never finished higher than 5th in the Eastern Conference, broke bad records such as longest losing streak to start the season, longest goal drought, longest winless streak and much more.

Toronto FC as a bit of success such as winning 4 Canadian Championship (the most in Canada) and became the first ever Canadianteam to reach the semifinals of Concacaf Champion League. The club has also brought big names to its club such as Danny Dichio, Dwayne De Roserio, Jermain Defoe, Julio Cesar, Mista, Julian De Guzman, Trosten Frings, Danny Koevermans and now Michael Bradley, Sebastian Giovinco and Jozy Altidore.

Dwayne De Rosario is the new man of Toronto FC

Toronto FC's Legend is the new manager for the club.

View attachment 218386

After a disappointing 2014 season, Toronto FC may finally found their saviour. Dwayne De Rosario was officially announced at the KIA Training Ground in Toronto that the club icon will be their 10th manager. Sitting in front of the press with MLSE CEO Tim Leiweke and Managing Director Tim Bezbatchenko, De Rosario couldn't stop smiling.

"It was very hard to leave the game all together but it was even harder to leave Toronto" said the new manager.

Tim Leiweke started press conference with a quote that he stated last year: "Why. Can't. We. Be. Great."

"Last year, we were too ambitious and created unrealistic expectation to the club. We forgot to grow as a team." said the president, "From last year, I learned that we need to create a culture for the club, create a tradition for the people of Toronto, create a positive environment for the players. This is why we needed to think about the future and this future starts now. I'm happily to introduce to Toronto FC fans, who does not need an introduction as he is a legend at the club, Dwayne De Rosario as the team 10th manager."

Dwayne promises big thing to the club including developing Canadian players for Toronto and for Canada national team, pull the club from being the joke of the league to the team that everyone fears and promise to begin in players that wants to be part of the club and wants to a solution, not the problem.

"As I was talking to Leiweke and Bez (Bezbatchenko), we all shared the same vision to improve the club and we all want the same thing: To become great." said Dwayne.

He left Toronto FC to join the New York Red Bulls but later joined D.C United in the same season in 2012, where we was selected as Captain of the MLS All-Star Team in 2012 beating Chelsea 3-2. Toronto FC Pre-Season Review

View attachment 218096

Toronto FC played five pre-season games, notably against Santa Fe and America de Cali of Colombia.

View attachment 218095

The first game was against the Colombian giants Club Independiente Santa Fe S.A or Santa Fe for short. The game started with a scare after Luis scored in the 24th minute but with TFC new manager Dwayne De Rosario implementing attacking posession 4-2-3-1 tactic, Toronto FC managed to turn around with goals by Osorio, newly acquired Herculez Gomez and newly captain Michael Bradley.

View attachment 218093

Going to James M. Shuart Stadium in New York, the Cosmos outclassed TFC in every way possible. DeRo tried a 4-4-2 formation but it backfired as Real Madrid legend Raul was on top of his game.

View attachment 218092

Going to the foreign land of Colombia, Sociedad Anonima Desportiva America S.A or America de Cali, scored three times after defensive blunders that plagued the club last year. Dwayne De Rosario stated that defence will be the key focus in our development as a club.

View attachment 218084

This match was a great game for manager Dwayne as he focused on defense and saw how his assistant manager Jason Bent was managing Toronto FC II squad. Osorio had a great game; scoring the game tying goal and minutes later, had a disallowed goal.

View attachment 218083

Toronto FC wasted too many opportunities to win this game as Forest City London scored after an error by TFC defense.

Verdict: This club can make the playoffs for the first time in club history but will have to focus on minimizing its defending error and take advantage with its attacking force.

Great start to this mate, now to go see how the national team is fairing!

MLS Squad Registration Passes

Plus news on the managers first signing for the year.

View attachment 218078

February 24, 2015- The MLS squad registration for the 2015 MLS season has passed. Each club had to pick up to 28 players to register so those players can be allowed to play during the MLS season. This registration does not include the Canadian Championship and the Lamar Hunt U.S Open Cup.

Players that were not registered for the competition were all placed in March Waivers Draft that will happen later tonight. This draft is a great opportunity for clubs to pick up players that may help strength the team through key areas or add depth to the squad. Players are are not selected in the draft are released to free agent.

Toronto FC had two casualties as both strikers Robbie Findley and Luke Moore did not make the cut.

View attachment 218075View attachment 218074

The 26 man roster that Toronto FC have register are:

Goalkeepers: Joseph Bendik, Chris Konopka, Alex Bono.

Defenders: Mark Bloom, Justin Morrow, Josh Williams, Nick Hagglund, Ashtone Morgan, Heath Pearce*, Glauber*, Ahmed Kantari and Damien Perquis.

Midfielders: Jackson, Michael Bradley, Benoit Cheyrou, Collen Warner, Marky Delgado, Jonathan Osorio, Jay Chapman, Daniel Lovitz, Jonny Steele* and Sebastian Giovinco.

Strikers: Jozy Altidore, Herculez Gomez, and Jordan Hamilton.

*recently acquired players before the registration deadline.

Robbie Findley, who was acquired in the December Draft, did not impress Dwayne De Rosario during the preseason, managing appearing in 2 games with an average of 6.4 with no goals and no assist.

Luke Moore, who joined Toronto FC in 2014 after a trade sent Gale Agbossoumonde to the now defunct Chivas USA, had a disappointing preseason after a stellar 2014 campaign.

Toronto FC new Signings

Dwayne De Rosario promise to strength up the defensive core with 2 new signing and will as a new left winger.

View attachment 218057View attachment 218056

Heath Pearce is a MLS CB veteran, who also can play as a LB if needed, is a strong team player and a player that wants to win. He signed with Toronto FC on free Transfer after his contract with Swedish side IFK Goteborg ended. Before joining Toronto, played in the MLS for 7 seasons between 2009-2014, splitting those times with FC Dallas, Chivas USA, New York Red Bulls, and the Montreal Impacts. Pearce also been capped 35 times by the Untied States national team but hasn't been called up since 2012.

View attachment 218050View attachment 218049

Glauber is Brazilian CB that last played for the Columbus Crew. He is a tall defender that is good at the air, perfect for defending against set-pieces. The 31 year old appeared in the Brazilian national team only once in 2005 and has played in Brazil for teams like Atletico Mineiro Palmeiras and in Europe for 1 F.C Nurnberg and Manchester City.

View attachment 218045View attachment 218044

Jonny Steele from North Ireland, is a left winger that can also play in the AMC position. He signed on free transfer his contract ended with Minnesota United from the NASL. He has a high work rate that will be important for the club and can be a leader for the youth players. His experience in the MLS includes Real Salt Lake and the New York Red Bulls.

Dwayne De Rosario hope that the new signing will help the team move forward and hope that can be leaders for the club.

great challenge, I always do this since FM introduced MLS! club gets 'easy' after a while as the AI squad building tends to be pretty poor long term due to all MLS rules and restrictions, the NT will be much harder, will keep an eye on both stories :)

can I ask you a favor: could you check nationalities of foreign regens created/based in USA for superdraft and youth/minor league clubs? I'm particularly interested in quantity/quality of New Zealand regens... thanks!

"Excited to join Toronto FC as they are a club at are moving forward and playing along side of Giovinco and Altidore is a great experience and hopefully I will learn a lot."

Robbie Findley and Luke Moore, both waived by Toronto, were not claimed in the Draft and are now free agents.

Toronto FC Roster Moves and Injury Concern

Toronto FC sent Eriq Zavaleta and Clement Simonin to Toronto FC II. With the addition of Glauber and Heath Pearce, manager Dwayne De Rosario felt that both Eriq and Clement would'nt have plenty of playing time and knew that Toronto FC II is a great place of them to grow.

Toronto FC received terrible news that their striker Herculez Gomez will be out for 3 month after breaking his leg in a freak accident during training. With him out, highly rated Jordan Hamilton and recently acquired Akindele will now split their time as back up to Altidore.

Key Players

Michael Bradley

View attachment 217525

The new captain Michael Bradley, joined Toronto FC in 2014 as a Designated Player, will be quarterback of the team if the club wants to make the playoffs. Bradley will finally have his number '10' in Giovinco which will let him play better in his passing and marking. Also with the arrival of Giovinco, he can finally play in his central midfield role and doesn't need to be running all over the field. As captain, he will need to be a leader both on and off the field and help mentor the young players.

Sebastien Giovinco

View attachment 217519

Sebastian Giovinco crossing the pond to join Toronto FC as the club 2nd Designated Player was a huge surprise to the MLS world as a player his prime, playing for the Italian giants Juventus and gambling his chances with his time here to impress Conte of the Italian national team. With money being a factor (Highest paid Italian in the world), he insists that he just wants to play and be out of the spotlight and enjoy his time with his family. For Toronto, they finally have their number 10 player and Giovinco, no doubt, will be a key player of Toronto. 2015 MLS MVP?

Jozy Altidore

View attachment 217518

Toronto FC's 3rd Designated Player, joined the club after a swapping with English side Sunderland for Jermain Defoe. After a disappointing run with Sunderland, scoring 1 goal in 42 league appearance, Toronto FC hopes that a change of scenery will help return Altidore back in form where he scored 39 goals in 67 league appearances with Dutch's AZ Alkmaar. He will have plenty of support with Giovinco and Michael Bradley feeding him the ball.

View attachment 217517
