Toronto FC Players on Duty

Nine TFC players will be away in international duty from March 26th to 31th.

Marky Delgado was called up by Tabs Ramos for his 1st USA U20 cap. The 18 year old from Glendora, California has not appeared for Toronto this season but was on the bench for Toronto first 2 games. The USA U20 will face Costa Rica U20 on March 26th

Jonathan Osorio will join fellow teammates Tesho Akindele, Ashtone Morgan, Jay Chapman and Jordan Hamilton as they were called up by Canada to face Jamaica on March 27th. Jay Chapman will appear in his first cap with the senior national team.

Jozy Atlitore and Michael Bradley was called up by Jurgen Klinsmann as the USA will go to Seoul to face South Korea on the 27th.

Jonny Steele, Toronto new signing, will join Northern Ireland as they will face Greece for the 2016 Euro cup qualification match on the 27th and Ukraine, friendly game, on the 31st. Steele will miss Toronto next match against Real Salt Lake.

Michael Bradley will be out for 3 weeks after injuring during the 4-3 lost against South Korea. Michael Bradley was hurt during a heavy challenge with Son Heung-Min.


"I'm very disappointed with the injury as I won't be able to play for 3 weeks" said the captain "I only thing I can do know is motivate my teammate from the press box and locker room."

Now Toronto FC will have to depend on Marky Delgado or Collen Warner for the time being.

"Ya,it sucks when your captain gets hurt during international duty but it's part of the game. We will have to deal with it. I faithful that Collen Warner and Marky will fill in the shoe during the three weeks"said De Rosario.

Jozy Altidore did not play in the game against South Korea as Klinsmann felt that Aron Johannsson had an amazing game (Which he did), scoring a hat-trick in a losing effort against the Koreans.

Tesho Akindele had a spectacular game against Jamaica as he scored twice as Canada won 2-0. Also in the game was Jonathan Osorio, Jay Chapman, Ashtone Morgan and Jordan Hamilton.

Osorio had an assist in Canada first goal and played the entire 90 minutes.Jay Chapman made his senior team debut in the 77 minute by replacing Kyle Bekker. Ashtone Morgan came in for Marcel de Jong and Jordan Hamilton died not play.

Toronto FC was dominated in every aspect in the game as Real Salt Lake took advantage Toronto's no show. Dwayne De Rosario was not happy about how the team played.

"I'm sorry for the fans." he said "Could not believe what I saw tonight, it was unacceptable how we played. We didn't have any passion, we let our opponent outplay us. Letting another team possess 70% is not a good sign. Changes will be made."

The only upside to this lop-sided defeat was Daniel Lovitz scoring his first goal professional goal after a counterattack led by Giovinco in the 58th minute.

Real Salt Lake had 12 shot with 6 on target and had a 70% ball possession including having 100% in the last 15 minutes. Sebastian Jaime scored two goals tonight with a left volley after a excellent cross by Javier Morales and after a miss header by TFC's Kantari, Jaime scored in a open net to make it 2-0.

Damien Perquis is back with Toronto FC after an injury but was not featured in today game.

Toronto FC March Review

March was an average month for Toronto FC as they went 1-1-1 with 4 goals for and 3 against. They beat their Canadian rivals Vancouver Whitecaps in a spectacular fashion, tied against Columbus Crew after a defensive error and was invisible against Real Salt Lake.

Toronto FC came back down 2-0 to tie the game 2-2. Sebatian Giovinco and Jonathan Osorio scored for the Toronto after an unlucky start where Chicago scored first.

"I'm happy with the squad as they didn't give up and fought back." said the Toronto FC manager "I'm kind of suspicious about the penalty call that the ref handed to Chicago in the beginning of the 2nd half but in the end, its soccer, you gotta deal with it."

Jonathan Osorio was in the middle of the media scrum, talking with the reporter. "The team played well, we hustle hard and didn't give up. Giovinco gave him an amazing pass and I couldn't mess it up."

Marky Delgado had his first appearance with Toronto FC after coming in for Benoit Cheyrou.

Toronto FC had 20 shots over Chicago's 9 but Chicago had converted their chances before TFC could. Gilberto, claimed after Toronto FC rejected to Vasco offer to send him back, made his former team pay in the 43rd minute after a defensive blunder that Gilberto took advantage.

Jeff Larentowicz gave Chicago the 2-0 lead after a controversial penalty call after Gilberto, who was believed to have dived, after Jay Chapman tired to challenge for the ball.

The comeback started when Giovinco scored his first TFC goal after placing in the Altidore's rebound. Jonathan Osorio scored the game tying goal when he received a through ball by Giovinco and kicked in the bottom right corner.

Toronto FC will face FC Dallas next in Dallas as Chicago will face New England Revolution.

Captain Bradley is Back

Toronto FC's captain is back to full training and will appear in Toronto FC next match against FC Dallas.

"It feel good to be back training again. The boys had a great game last time and I hope to ready for FC Dallas" said the captain.

Michael Bradley hurt his chest during a US friendly game against South Korea which ended in a 4-3 loss to the Americans. Bradley has been featured in 2 games this season with no goals and 80% pass completion.

Jonathan Osorio help lift Toronto FC to a 2-1 victory over FC Dallas in Dallas, Texas. The Canadian winger scored twice in the 2nd half and is now tied for first with 4 goals.

"Osorio is a fantastic player, and he is only 22 years old." said De Rosario. "Excellent game overall by the team, taking advantage of their chances and the defending went well. Giovinco had another great game and Benoit Cheyrou was a key player today."

Toronto had 18 shots on goal while Dallas had 14. Both Joseph Bendik and Dan Kennedy had great saves during the match.

"Bendik really saved us in the final moments of the match" said defender Perquis "He gave us hope and we couldn't give up on him."

TFC captain Michael Bradley came back from injury and was brought in the 70th minute.

Toronto FC started the game hot when Giovinco was all alone but could not convert the shot into a goal. A couple of minutes later, Osorio received a pass from Altidore, gave himself some space and shot the ball but keeper Kennedy made the save.

Barrios had a great chance to give Dallas the lead in the 37th minute when he curled the ball to the net but it went just over the bar.

Osorio gave Toronto the lead in the 51st minute after a heading the cross from Mark Bloom to the back of the net. Seven minutes later, Michael Barrios tied the game after getting a through ball pass from David Texeira and put it in the lower right hand side.

In the 71st minute, Osorio gave TFV the lead again after placing Giovinco's rebound inside the net. Bendik made three great saves at the final moments of the game when Barrios, Texeira, and Barrios again all tried to put it in.

Toronto FC had a night to forget as expansion side Orlando City dominates and bad fouling led them to their demise. To make it even worst TFC no.1 keeper Joseph Bendik and Tesho Akindele were injured during the game and will be out for 8 and 3 weeks respectively.

Toronto-born Cyle Larin gave his hometown team a dominating show that even the TFC supporter gave a standing ovation. The hat trick hero scored 3 in 25 minutes and was the man of the match.

Cyle Larin scored his 1st after receiving a pass from Kaka and shooting it bottom corner. The 2nd goal was scored 3 minutes later after another pass from Kaka. In the 25th minute, Cyle Larin scored his hat trick when he header the ball from Winter's cross.

Toronto FC will head to Philadelphia to face the Unions as Orlando City will host the New England Revolution.​

Toronto FC April Review

April was another average month that ended in disappointment. Going 1-1-1 with 4 goals for and 6 against. They tied against Chicago, won against Dallas and lost against Orlando.

Toronto FC had a better game than last time but were still unable to win against the Unions. After a fast start by the Unions, scoring in the first 23 seconds of the game, Jonny Steele making his first start of the season, scored the tying goal.

"It's great to be back on the field" said Steele "De Rosario gave me a chance to prove myself and I hope scoring that goal shows him that I want to be successful like the rest of the squad."

When we asked the manager, he said "He played great in the 35 minutes that he played."

Jonny Steele was brought in after Jozy Altidore was forced out of the field with a Bruised Head and will be out for a couple of days.

After Philadelphia Unions scored in the 1st 30 seconds of the game by Tranquillo Barnetta, Toronto FC started to attack until the end.

Jackson had a chance to tie the game Fabinho manage to keep the ball from crossing the line. Jonathan Osorio had another chance in the 1st half but managed to miss the net after being 1 on 1 with the keeper.

Toronto FC Left Back Justin Morrow was featured in MLS Team of the Week after a great performance against Philadelphia Unions with an assist and 7.30 average.

He is joined with David Bingham from San Jose Earthquakes, Matt Besler and Jalil Anibaba from Sporting Kansas City, A.J DeLaGarza from Los Angeles Galaxy, Juan Martinez from Real Salt Lake, Pedro Morales and Octavio Rivero from Vancouver Whitecaps, Federico Higuain from Columbus Crew, Fabian Castillo from FC Dallas, and Teal Bunbury from New England Revolution.​
 
Always found it tough doing a save in MLS as its so different to anything else. Just wait it out until Messi or Ronaldo finally find they want to retire to the States..

Hopefully it will be easier to sign those players. In this save Ronaldinho joined the MLS so you never know.

Toronto FC back up goalkeeper Chris Konopka won MLS Team of the Week on May 12th. His performance against Houston Dynamos, where he had a 8.50 with 8 saves, raised everyone head in the MLS community.

He joins Michael Harrington from Colorado Rapids, Damien Perrinelle, Lloyd Sam and Bradley Wright-Phillips from New York Red Bulls, Nat Borchers, Rodney Wallace, Diego Valeri, and Fanendo Adi from Portland Timbers, Jalil Anibaba from Sporting Kansas City, and Mauro Diaz from FC Dallas.​

Vancouver broke Toronto FC's fans heart in the 1st leg after coming back from a 2-0 in the 1st half to a 2-2 draw including an 89th minute goal by Russell Teibert. But tonight Toronto FC had their revenge in a similar fashion but in a more devastating action.

20,149 people that were in attendance saw the collapse of Vancouver, where the club had a 3-0 lead in the 1st half just erased at the end of the game. Many of the Whitecaps fans were upset, some were angry and even a brave women gave the finger to Jozy Altidore.

"I didn't even noticed it to be honest." said Altidore as he was laughing "After scoring the 2nd goal it gave us a boost for us. Jackson is a hero tonight, I just did my part."

With the win on away goals, Toronto FC will face FC Edmonton in the finals, where another surprised happened after the defending champion Montreal lost to NASL side Edmonton 4-1 and will feature in their 1st Canadian Championship finals.

Toronto FC started attacking in the 1st 15 minutes of the game but could not convert it to goals. Pedro Morales gave Vancouver the lead in the 17th minute after a screamer from outside the box. Octavio Rivero double the lead after beating Justin Morrow in side the box and tucking it in. Three minutes later, Rivero scored his second when he volley the ball in the net.

But the 2nd half changed everything. Dwayne De Rosario changed his formation and brought in Jozy Altidore, who was recently back from injury.

Altidore scored Toronto FC first goal after shoot the ball from a bad clearance from Russell Teibert. Jozy Altidore cut the lead to 1 when he header the ball from Jackson's cross. In the dying moment where the Vancouver supporter were jumping and celebrating the victory, Jackson shut them up after tapping in the ball from Justin Morrow's cross.

Toronto FC will go to Foxborough to face New England Revolution.​

8 goals between us and New England as both defense were not present in today match. We had to come back 3 times during the match. Jozy Altidore scored another 2 goals and Jackson and Osorio had 1. Jackson also had a goal that was disallowed in the beginning of the 2nd half.

Both Kantari and Jackson had to leave the match due to injury.

Jackson will be out for 10 days after bruising his thigh when he attempted to sprint and Kantari will be out 12 days with a strained neck after trying to head the ball.

Our next game will be against Portland Timbers at BMO Field.​
