Winning 4222 Inside Fowards. Oxford UTD L1 -> Prem in 2 seasons! Genk Treble First Season!!

I've been looking for a tactic which has inside forwards , or at least wide attacking midfielders. I tried to make a minor tweak to El Turco's 442 system and this seems to be working well for me. I was looking for a 4231 but I like this a lot more.

I'm playing with Preston. I started the season with a 4231, the results were not amazing so I made this tweak and it's great. I'm sure some of you may have already done this. The results schedule screen is from when i switched to this tactic.

I hope some of you give this a go and see how it does for you if you're still playing fm 19.

A little update for anyone who may be interested - I have definitely got better results having changed the midfield pair to BBM.

I simulated a season with these tactics and got emphatic results considering I had no influence on the team at all. Oxford got 102 points in league with 122 goals scored! Came second behind Barnsley who somehow got 104 points, but in normal circumstances this would've easily won the league. I am continuing this test in my own interest, but i'll upload the results as it goes- I'm still not touching management to see if this tactic can get to the Prem and beyond on it's own.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS

So I checked at the start of January and saw we were 22nd in the league, albeit narrowly; so I looked into it and saw there were only 2 signings made by the DOF at the start of the season, and a few players had left, leaving us with 1*/2* players in a few positions. So with a small 1.5 million budget i signed some cheap, transfer listed players and let the game simulate again until the end of the season...

We won the playoffs.

A remarkable turnaround- stunning '2020' form allowed Oxford to climb from 22nd to 6th place, score the most amount of goals in the league, have the top goalscorer in the league, and be promoted to the premier league! As you can see the squad I had after the window wasn't exactly stunning either.

I'm hoping there's players left playing this and looking at this to appreciate. I loved El Turco's tactic a lot but I wanted to play with proper attacking midfield wingers in an inside forward role, and i seem to have found my way to do that. I hope you give this tweak a go and see if it works for you. It's the 4222 IF BBM tactic.

I've also thrown in the results of the U-23 and U-18 teams as they're also using the tactic and had the right players available to them all season, and the results speak for themselves.

I'll be giving this a whirl with my Everton team, I love the El Turco 442 as it's been doing great with some of my teams but I sometimes feel I can get better results.

Plug and play for me mate. I don't usually touch that. I'm trying to make a 4231 tweak right now as well but atm the best tactic is 4222 IF BBM. Give it a try

Simmed a season with Genk and it was absolutely dominant. Check these screenshots out!!

Even won the Europa league!! Treble and i didn't even manage for it.

I'm going to take control next season and see how I do in the UCL

The tactic is so good going forward and defensively - 138 goals scored in just the league!! With 32 conceded and 22 clean sheets. Unreal numbers.

The football and goals are delightful to watch, incisive passing and great movement create some truly beautiful plays and goals.

This is a really good question and quite a hard one to answer- they are both very good tactics and I would comfortably use both...

When it comes down to it, it does depend on what squad you have, but I think the strongest tactic may be the 4222...

I say this because in my testing, if I leave it to holiday, the 4222 will usually have teams performing better and scoring more and conceding less overall, although this is subjective and marginal. I recommend using them both and seeing! The only thing I don't like about the 4231 is that sometimes the CAM can be very inconsistent... That's a fault of the match engine but hey ho. Two AF's always score and assist lots between them and it automatically gets great support into the strikers

I was working on a 433 but I haven't polished it yet, still needs work!

I haven't really played in a few days so I will upload when I finish it off I need to do some tweaking with the roles
