This is void due to stupid voting. Henrik Larsson has more votes than Franz Beckenbeur? look at C. Ronaldo an Messi's vote numbers. I mean please there good but best player ever? no chance, i voted for Zidane as all round on that list he is the only real complete player. Pele comes in second as the guy was crazy good going forward. I remember watching (obv a playback) Portugal i think it was tryin to kick lumps out of him coz they couldnt stop him. Maldini claims the best defender on the list, amazing talent. Gordan Banks as a GK but id rather of had Casiass (sp?) dudes been consistantly the worlds best

Im sayin maradona, pele and if it is in a couple of years time i can see messi playing like maradona but without the drugs and the great hand of god

Pele... the man scored over a thousand goals in his career, and pretty much dominated the performances of Brazil's early world cup wins. His club career was impressive too, and was an absolute gem without equal in my opinion.

Henke Larsson, one of the greatest players of all time? No. Rivaldo? No. Di Stefano? No. Zoff? No.

All these inane choices and you leave out the greatest allround player of all time, Johan Cruyff. Also, only 8 votes for Beckenbauer? He is a proper c*nt but the second-greatest allround player.

Messi rules the shiznit nowadays.

I am actually shocked that Johan Cruyff isn't included in there actually, didn't notice as I voted for Pele but quite ridiculous he isn't there. He would have got my second vote.

Paolo Maldini is the best defender of all-time, and one of the most complete players in the history of football. His only flaw was not winning a trophy with the Italy international team. But all aside, Maldini was perfect. He was great on and off the pitch.
His personality was a complete role model, a loyal and influential aswell as inspiring individual. In his heyday, as a player Maldini had the following qualities:

- Almost limitless stamina: bombarding back and forth nonstop for 90 minutes, helping both defence and attack in his left full back role
- Consistency
- Great marking ability: I have fond memories of him shackling the likes of Christian Vieri, Ronaldo (yes, when he was at his best in the late 90s), among others
- Reliable at the back: Nothing could get past him when he was on form, but then again, he was on form for more than 90% of his matches. His ability to read the game and cut passes was extremely impressive
- Speed: I have never seen Maldini being outrun in the 90s. His speed was certainly not much inferior to Roberto Carlos, and Finidi George (Ajax 1995) thought he was quick, yet couldn't beat Maldini in a sprinting contest
- Strength: Christian Vieri, with his height and physical presence was one of the world's greatest strikers, yet was succesfully man marked by Maldini, who made Vieri lose his balance on numbers of occasions in different matches
- Dribbling and technique: For a defender, Maldini has great technique and dribbling skills. I think on one occasion in Champions League (I think it was against Deportivo in the mid 00s) he dribbled past 2-3 players, and there are many occasions in which he got out of a tricky situation in which he was crowded by few opposing players, but still managed to get through and keep the ball.
- Composure

Maldini, IMO, was better than Beckenbauer. Beckenbauer is probably a better goalscorer and better at making plays and creating chances, but when it comes to being a defender, Maldini is the best pure defender there is.

maradona

or zidane both great players

Del Piero you can say whatever about him not deserving a mention i just dont care his my idol he was one of the 1st players who became my idol and still is to this very day

I'm sorry but these polls never work because there is soo many players to choose from already you have offended me by not placing George Best or Eric Cantona in the list or placing Paul Scholes in it. But from the list you picked I would have to say... You know what only Zidane really have a decent claim to be on that list. Pele was nothing compared to Zico to be honest both played at the same time only Pele was more successful in terms publicity wise. Bergkamp [spelling] was a better player I would say than Henry in the same team. Kaka is amateur at best he shows up and dissappears. My personal favourite player was Cantona for his gracefulness and flair on the field. He done things that players these days can only dream of. Also Terry Butcher was a fantastic defender. George Best if it wasn't for the Alcohol would be far more bigger than Pele and any other player to retire.

Ridiculous. When you say that Kaka is amateur at best, it kinda ruins anything else you said there.

just unfortunately sat around doing **** all after world cup and got fat :D

just on the basis on tht i hve seen a lot of him i would have to go 4 henry

same 4 messi, kaka i really dont think so

as 4 henrik larsson u are having a laugh great player but not at tht level
how the **** if he is in there tht gerrard lampard torres people like tht are not in it

wht bout puskas?

I don't know, I will concede that Messi is a better talent than Kaka, but there is one thing that distinguishes the three and puts Kaka above CR and Messi in my book. CR and Messi has never single-handedly carried a team to Champions League victory. Kaka did just that in 2007. Just as 1986 World Cup was the Maradona show, the 2007 Champions League was the Kaka show. Kaka had support cameos from the rest of the Milan team, but it was all Kaka.

It wasn't the same with CR and Messi. Lord knows, CR had the joy of having the likes of Wayne Rooney, Tevez, Ferdinand and van der Sar among others, while Messi has the likes of Iniesta, Xavi, and Samuel Eto'o, among others. Sure, there was the winning midfield trio Gattuso-Pirlo-Seedorf, as well as the veterans Maldini and Inzaghi, but they were pretty much past their best. If Kaka didn't play all the Champions League matches, Milan might not have won the trophy. If say Kaka was injured and didn't play against Celtic, there is some chance that Milan will lose. And Milan will definitely lose if Kaka didn't play against Man Utd and Liverpool.

It wasn't the same with CR and Messi. Without CR, Man Utd still probably would've taken the win over Lyon and Roma. And without Messi, Barca will probably would've taken the win over Lyon and Bayern. Both CR and Messi are the lead actors in their team's glory, but their roles in their clubs weren't as talismanic or inspiring as Kaka. Without a doubt, Kaka single-handedly won the 2007 Champions League trophy for Milan.

That IMO puts Kaka above CR and Messi.

Also, as good as Steven Gerrard is, IMO too many people are overrating him.
