Roma fan? :P I know Aldiar was decent, but he was hardly a world beater. maybe if Brazil won the 98 WC...

And I don't think Totti/Batigol come into the same class as Raul either.

Yes big one xD. The point with totti and batistuta is that there are not players like them or who can do what they do. Their moves, playstyle etc are unique so thats why they are all time best in my opinion
And aldair is legend :D

yeah but if you put aldair, then you put dunga and hierro and matthaus and sammer and rijkaard, see? I mean, best of the best since the 90's onward for me (fell free to add anybody):
GK: Peruzzi, Buffon, Casillas, Schmeichel, Bartez
LB: Roberto Carlos, Lizarazu
CB: Hierro, Sammer, Blanc, Desailly, Maldini
RB: Panucci, Alves
MC: Xavi, Redondo, Deschamps, Pirlo, Zidane, Kaka, Baggio, Del Piero, Hadji, Ronaldinho, Laudrup, Litmanen
LM: Rivaldo, Messi
RM: Cristiano, Stoikov
ST: Romario, Villa, Ronaldo, Henry, Batistuta, Zamorano

And... I'm forgetting lots of people, 90's onward. Before, you english start screaming in horror, didn't put cantona a) because I don't remember his natural position and b) france actually won something when getting rid of cantona or papin or people liek that.

from the list there Pele hands down but in my opinion you cannot have cristiano ronaldo there without having cryuff, platini, gerd muller or socrates
also if buffon is there so sould yashin the russian keeper

I'm sorry but these polls never work because there is soo many players to choose from already you have offended me by not placing George Best or Eric Cantona in the list or placing Paul Scholes in it. But from the list you picked I would have to say... You know what only Zidane really have a decent claim to be on that list. Pele was nothing compared to Zico to be honest both played at the same time only Pele was more successful in terms publicity wise. Bergkamp [spelling] was a better player I would say than Henry in the same team. Kaka is amateur at best he shows up and dissappears. My personal favourite player was Cantona for his gracefulness and flair on the field. He done things that players these days can only dream of. Also Terry Butcher was a fantastic defender. George Best if it wasn't for the Alcohol would be far more bigger than Pele and any other player to retire.

One more thing, not sure if he has been mentioned yet but Bobby Charlton should be up there. Legend. I always thought he was right-footed but I've seen him hit some ridiculous left footers too. and going by his success, Giggs probably could be up there. My Dad also tells me that as strikers went, Daglish was as good as any in the 80s for Liverpool.

Shame that Duncan Edwards was taken so young. My granddad said he would have been a class apart from what very little he saw of him. Love King Kenny but I don't think he'd make a true 'great' list. Definitely in that category just below which is where I'd place Charlton and Zidane too.

Another Portugese player.... ?

Eusebio perhaps ?

317 Goals in 306 Games for Benefica

41 Goals in 64 Games for Portugal :D ?

He should of been on the least really, Garrincha too !

I'm sorry that so many players have been missed but I feel that if I included many more players that there would be too many options. I also regret putting Henrik Larsson in there. Though he was a great player, 'henke' could never really hold a candle to Zidane or Maradona. Also I am only 14 so I would know of some of the players you guys have been mentioning. But I have to admit that I put this together in about 10 minutes so therefore was unable to give it the proper thought and consideration required.

Yeah maybe we should do a "best" players in positions or in Era's instead to break it up a bit !,

I forgot to mention Leônidas da Silva, Rivelinho the perfectors of the bicycle kick and the dummy ball.

I'd love to edit in the best ever players and see whether FM would allow them to gel into an amazing team...

How about this as a 'team' which might work (not just 'best ever players in their position XI'):

Buffon
Alberto Torres - Beckenbauer - John Charles - Maldini
Souness - Socrates
Gerrard - Maradona - Duncan Edwards
Nando Torres

Wonder whether I could edit it in properly - obviously stats for some of the older players would be harder to judge... hmm something for a rainy day :)

Where is Eusebio, Puskas and Amancio??? three legendary players not on this list!!!!

If you do then could you please upload it as I would definitely download it.

cant believe george best didnt get a mention and buffon did, wats that all about

this is just stupid. Half the players on that poll shouldn't even be there. Messi is too young to be regarded as a legen never mind the greatest, same goes for Ronaldo and how did Gordon Banks get there?????? there are scottish players who were better than most of them. How bout wee Jimmy Johnstone, Kenny Dalglish, Graeme Souness, Ally McCoist and there are alot more that could make that list if thats the standard of player your looking for

i didnt vote in the poll because the greatest player ever was George Best. Even Pele said that.

Ignore all the poepl complaining. You are only 14 and even with a wealth of knowlege there is no way to determine the greatest ever player. It would be easier put into positions but still there are so many choices and so many players over looked.

E.g

GK - Zoff, Banks, Yashin, Maier, Schmeichel, Simpson, Buffon, Grosics, Zamora.

L/RB - Fachetti, Cafu, Zanetti, McGrain, Gemmil etc

Ally McCoist !?!?!?!?!?!?!? lol

And Ronaldo definatly deserves to be on the list, Christiano Ronaldo perhaps not, But Ronaldo has scored 329 odd goals in 480 Apps and so has every right to be up there as a Striker.

I think Ally scored around 400 odd goals in 750 odd matches, but most of them were for Rangers in the Scottish League...

(I know you weren't being serious about Ally... right lol!?!?!)
