Its just underdog tactic.
4-2-3-1 often struggle vs 442 tactics.. so its very useful there. i use it on away matches vs strong teams or when i face a 442 away.

After quick 2 goal lead i changed tactic to " Counter " and stopped the "FM match engine" **** me up.
scored 4 goals on counter.
