Currently using this tactic since I restarted the game with Man United. I have only used it on Man United, but I don't see why it would work on other teams if you have the players for it.

I would love to know if it would work for you too and if there is any feedbacks and pointers, I would love to hear about it as I am still tweaking and prefecting the tactic.

A Brief History of the tactic:

I started using many tactics but none, except for Franky's MUFC '94 tactic, were good enough. After I tried using Knap FM09 Patch 9.2 Tactics(from dugout.tv), I decided to create my own. I extensively tweaked the tactic to create this awesome(at least to me) tactic.

Although high scoring isn't it's selling point, with the right players, winning(scoring definately with Man United) will not be a problem. And although it has to be said, the right players for each position is needed to make this tactic work to it's full potiential. I started a new game after I made this tactic and am now in my 3rd season. As of now, United is on a 84 game unbeaten run and champions for the first two seasons. Season two was a ultimate high! Won all titles(inclusive of Champions League, Club World Cup, Super Cup), except for the charity shield, which I lost to Arsenal on penalities. With short crisp passing with interchanging wingers, the plays and movements are a joy to behold sometimes.

Tactics Breakdown:

This tactic is very much an individually player instructed based tactic. I used Guido's specialist guide(from dugout.tv) as my base, so all thanks to him, Knap, and TTF tactics for all the help to create this tactic
The full-backs acts as wing-backs, central defender are basically as they are, side Midfielder are free-roled wingers, left sided central midfield acts a box-to-box midfielder, right sided central midfielder is the controlling playmaker, AMC is the shadow striker and the Striker acts as a fox-in-the-box.

I have to emphaise again, that you will need the right players for the each position to reach it's potiential and even with my current team and with all it's achievements, I think it hasn't reached it's full potiential. Awesome plays are not so consistent yet, but it's getting there. I potiential problem you will face is when the opposing team is using a DMC or two, the AMC may face some problems and have a low rating. Usually, when this is happens, I will move the AMC back up to his striker's position. But, hey, sometimes, this is not effective enough, so if you do find out a good way to overcome this problem, let me know too will you?

Cheers!

note: read up the guido's guide to find out the right player for each position. I have uploaded this tactic on the Tactics page. Feel free to download from there.

Additional information: For Opposition Instructions, this is what I usually assign to them:-

Goalkeeper (as per advise from assistant coach)
Defender Central - Tackle set to Hard, the rest leave them be.
Full Backs and All Midfielders - Tight Marking: leave it as it is, Closing down: Always, Tackle: Hard, Show onto Foot: Weaker Foot
Strikers - Tight Marking: Always, Closing down: Always, Tackle: Hard, Show onto Foot: Weaker Foot

Can you post screenshots of your transfer history please?

Why? Wondering about Cech?

Ok.. I hold my hands up and admit it, I cheated and milk Chelsea on my first season for cash and Cech. :S... To be able to afford buy Palombo, Balotelli and Mountiho. Players like Santon, Carioca, Tremolada and Bounanotte came cheap, less than 10M total, so that was covered by my 1st season kitty.

I sold Berbatov for 35M to Man City along with a bunch of young players, Gibson, Possebon and such.. at the start of the second season and with the money generated along with my transfer kitty, bought Benzema(snare him for total of 40M, clauses inclusive) and Robinho(he was unhappy in his game and I managed to snare him for 20M, clauses inclusive). I got Bolzoni as a player exchange with Inter. They paid me 12M and Bolzoni for Palombo.

If it's Ribery you wondering about, I just got him @ the start of the 3rd season for 11.75M, he was on his last year of his contract with Bayern it seems and didn't want to sign a new contract.

But, let's not get into this too much, as this thread is about the tactic and I would really like to know the feedback on it, so I can make it better and share it with everyone.

As I said this tactic needs the right players to make it reach it's full potiential, so in a way, I cheated to get it to work straight away in the first season. Im not proud of it, but i figuring that I would restart a new game once I have this tactic and training finalized and optimized.

So, please fellas, try it out and let me know it flaws and your pointers to help me make this tactic better.

To be honest with players like that it's gonna be very difficult to lose a match, far too easy to win a match, thus taking all the enjoyment out of the game all together!

Honestly tho, what's the point of making a tactic that you have to have World Class players to use it with? Surely making a tactic that works with the players you already have is much more satisfying? And then sharing it with other FM users to which they could actually use instead of having to cheat to use?

Ah well, each to their own!

who u set as ur playmakers??
and which one is ur target man ??

Well, you are missing the point here. I mentioned that I used this only with Man United. And it has been said before, even with World Class players, it doesn't necessarily makes your team into a winning team. Maybe someone can make it work for a lesser/lower league team, who knows?

Being a individually player instructed-based tactic, you will need a certain amount of talent to make it work, but not necessarily World Class players. Bolzoni is a youngster who'll do well in the box-to-box position, and so does Carioca. So is Bounannotte, great shadow striker and effective as a winger too.

This tactic is not just [edit:added]about winning games, it about playing 'nice' football... High number of chances, good possession, dominating the opposition and such.

In the first season, I only significantly improved on my goalkeeper. Balotelli and Mountinho were rotated along with Ronaldo, Nani and Park. That was my base team and I built on from there. I bought a whole bunch of young players(Bolzoni, Carioca, Tremolada, Zambelli, Santon, Beevers, Fleck to name a few) to train them and play in this tactic.

I would argee, if you look at the screenshots, I have the likes of Ribery, Robinho, Benzema and Cech, that it brims with World Class players, but even so, Robinho is not my top player, heck he is a backup for Rooney and I have Rossi and Gignac on my sights(coming in at the end of the season), so he and Tevez will be sold soon. Anyways(i know this sound ironic and hypocritical), if you can afford the good players, then buy them. Not all the players I bought are 20M++ players. You always try and make your team better.

All said, if anyone has some in-sight to making it better, then Im all ears, maybe by tweaking the instructions the tactic can work better... But to come in and just police then post and undermine my efforts to creating and perfecting my tactic, then I just am flabbergasted at your intentions.

I'm sorry, I don't quite get you. Can you come again?

From the screenshots, Mountinho is my playmaker. The targetman is the striker which is this case is Benzema.

Read the Guido guide that I have linked to in my first post. That guide is immense in my opinion. Tells you what attributes to look for in the position that you are looking into. Not all the players I bought are gems, to be honest.

My goals come from all over the team. Mainly the targetman, shadow striker and wingers for my team. But every player do chip in the odd goal or two. Defenders scores to from corners, but I read somewhere that is because of a bug.

Do tou drag them into the playmaker box targetman box

Ahh... Yes, you have to set the players to their respective roles. Kinda like who gonna be your freekick taker, penalty taker and such. The lone striker, which in my case is Benzema will be set as my Targetman and Moutinho as the playmaker.

I tried ur tactic.. and I have won 3 games in a row 2-0 against blackburn, portsmouth and porto..

But one big problem is the ST and FC are not scoring.. none of the 6 goals came from them..

Glad that you are winning. May I ask who was playing in those positions and which team are you using? Is the opposition using DMCs?

One thing I'm trying to improve on is the AMC(or FC as you put it). I find that if the opposition is using a DM or two, the AMC is easily crowded out and won't be effective enough in scoring and attacking, but that isn't to say he isn't effective at all. From my experiences, the AMC will create spaces for others to score if he is crowded out. And if you realise this AMC will close down opposition players too. Kinda like a Rooney-type of role. Quick thinking forward who will harass and hound defenders, but with skills and creativity to score, feed or create space for others. Therefore, 1 attribute that comes to mind is off-the-ball. I'm incline to think that a player in this position needs to have a high stat on this.

One thing you can try is to push him back up to a ST position(without changing his instructions) sometimes this may work. Among other things to try are, you can retrain him in his preferred moves. Moving to channels, dribble through center works well enough for me. Killer balls too, if you prefer. Work out a training schedule for him too. For me, Rooney(my main AMC) is train as a attacking midfielder using Tugs & Darkstarr(i use both and switch around) training models. I will post again if I discover a good way for him to get around this or if anyone else discovers this, please do share too!

As for the ST, it's basically the same advise for the AMC with regards to training... You need to retrain him(if he doesn't have the right attributes yet) to have the right preferred moves for him to be effective. This ST is a fox-in-the-box type, so players who places the ball seems to be more effective than others to my personal experience. Moving to channels, dribble through the center and likes to beat outside trap(obvious since he is the furtherest man forward) comes to mind. I use Benzema and Tevez here usually. Tevez direct running, pace and power is usually a threat. Again, I really feel players with high off the ball attribute will do well here. High intensity for tactics in training?? There is 1 player that comes to mind who I think will do really well in this position is Fernando Torres.

I would advise you to read Guido's guide that I linked to in my first post to look for the right players for each position and to have a better understanding of this tactics as I heavily based this tactics on that guide.

Cheers!

well the AMC is rooney and the ST is berbatov.. 1 more problem is i think 4 goals has came from set pieces instead of open play.

Well, as with most tactics you'll need to give the players some time to gel. Winning helps in this! Hopefully, with this tactic, you see some improvements, in possession, number of attempts on goal, restricting the opposition chances, etc etc. It's shows the team is playing well with the tactic, you just need a breakthru on the open play goals.

About Berbatov, he plays ok as this type of targetman. In this formation, the targetman supply instructions is run onto ball. This means this type of targetman is ideally for those faster players with good off the ball movements as the other will tend to pass the ball into space for the targetman to chase. Example of these type of players are like, Tevez, Torres, Owen, Benzema and Obafemi Martins. But this not to say, Dimi can't play there, he can, but being of a slower pace, he may not be as effective there.

I too, in the beginning tried Dimi in this position but to me, he isn't that effective there. Dimi seems to play better as a shadow striker where his intelligence and movement off the ball comes good there. Likewise Tevez isn't as effective as a shadow striker(to me), but revel in the targetman position.

Maybe, if you can try to change the tragetman's supply instruction to head or to feet. Maybe Dimi would be more effective, but I wouldn't know now, I sold Dimi off to Man City already, therefore I can't test it out. The players I have now are technically good and fast players. I like them to play the game on the ground and pass it around fast.

Remembering that this is very much a individually players instructed tactic, therefore the players you put in each position must be the type of player right for the instructions. Example would be like between Carrick and Hargreaves. Although Carrick can play as both types of central midfielders, carrick has a lower aggression compared to Hargreaves, which makes Hargreaves better suited as the left side central midfielder which is the box-to-box midfielder, whereas Carrick with his higher creativity and passing is better suited for the right side midfielder, who is the controlling playmaker.

Maybe you could list your main squad and I can try to help you form up your 11 base on this tactic to the best of my knowledge.

Van der sar

rafael, vidic, fernidand, evra

ronaldo, veloso, anderson, nani

rooney, berbatov

sold hargreaves, bought veloso, tosic

- Set Anderson(Carrick will do well here too) to be your controlling playmaker (right sided central midfielder).
- Veloso will be your box-to-box midfielder(left central midfielder)

Try to retrain Berba and Tevez to place shots. try tevez in the ST position if you still have him. And if you still have money, i would suggest to you Angelo Palombo(beginning of the game, cost about 12+M). The guy's a total beast as a box-to-box midfielder... and Davide Santon(beginning of the game about 1++M) too!

The rest of your team is set to be honest. Ronaldo and Nani as your wingers... Are you are on patch 9.2 or 9.3. Rafael not that good on 9.2. If you can Santon, he will be a god there. Attached is Santon in my team after 2 1/2 season.

Just started a new game with 9.3 database.

I have been tweaking the tactic by swapping of position between the ST and AMC and intial results(of a few games) are quite good actually.

Im crusing with Man United, and using your tactics. Im doing so good in the league, that I have the pleasure of using alot of young talentet players from my u18 squad to get the job done in the league. Which makes my first team players being 120% ready for those important matches later in the stages.

I sold Demi in the first season to city aswell, and bought Milevskyi. It took about half a season before Milevskyi started putting them in. Im using Tevez as rotation with Milevskyi, but im not that happy... I would like a more consistent performance, atleast from Tevez. Is there anyone you can recommend, besides Torres and Benzema?

Apart from that, this really is a good tactic if you have the players for it. One of my favorite players are Hamsik, where would you put him? My belive is LM. Lets see if the Villans wanna sell him first!

Cheers

Great to hear the tactic is working great for you. I have never bought Hamsik before, but he is central midfielder and looks like a all-rounder, with proper training and tutoring he could do very well in any of the central midfield positions.

Consistent performer usually, but not always means big players. Vanger Love in the 9.3 patch would be good. He'll do well there.. I added the attributes needed for a fox-in-the-box striker(found in the Guido guide), among the names that came out were Pandev, Vucinic, Anelka, Aguero.
