2011 UEFA European Under-21 Tournament

This team is crying out for McEachran's passing ability!!! Saw most of the game and was abit dissapointed. Phil Jones really is the next JT, he has no pace and when he gets beaten he gives away a needless foul. Has got alot to learn but is arguably at the right place now. Lansbury was poor for me and Welbeck was annoymous. Very dissapointed.

This is beginning to grate a little. Why not try this next match:

Fielding
Walker - Smalling - Jones - Bertrand
Lansbury - Rodwell
Albrighton - Sturridge - Sinclair
Welbeck

Put Rodwell where he is best, in a holding role in front of the defence. Stick Lansbury beside him, see what he can offer in the centre and let him make driving runs from deep. Recreate the Albrighton/Walker axis from Villa this season; two players who know each other and compliment each other very well. Play Sturridge, with his superior creative skills, BEHIND the 'purer' striker Welbeck, and add Scott Sinclair to offer a direct threat cutting in from the left.

Muamba, Rodwell interchangeable, as are Cleverley and Sinclair and Henderson and Albrighton. Could even play Lansbury where Sturridge is and move Henderson back into the double pivot, see if he impresses this time round. Why oh why don't you do it Pearce?

This. Thought Pearce deserved the England job next, but some of his team selections are baffling. Surely it has to scream something at him that we've only looked half a threat, 60 minutes in after changes are made?

Oh come now. Jones has plenty of pace, Lansbury was arguably our best player and Welb- yeah, Welbeck was ****.

Jones got beaten for pace once right at the end when he took a heavy touch, just lost momentum because the guy was heading the other way, he had to make the foul or we'd of been i trouble, don't remember him getting beat much else except for when he misjudged that ball.

Absolutely zero service from midfield but Lansbury played well. He was linking up with attack well. He should start next game. Looked good prospect. Hoof tactic doesn't work with Welbeck and Sturridge. Why can't they keep the ball on the ground. Suprised Albrighton has not started.

Very much impressed with Jones. He has all the attributes to become a top defender. That mazy run in the first half was class. Looked comfortable with everything thrown at him except for one moment where he was beaten by the spin of the ball.

Rodwell and Lansbury should be CM pairing, if not Lansbury then Cleverley. These two lads can pass forward and got imagination to create some chances..

Need to play two strikers, Welbeck was way too isolated.

Agreed on principle, but I think we just need the second striker to stay closer to the front man. Instead of turning into a 4-5-1 in defensive phases, a 4-4-1-1 would suffice, with the second striker finding space Ozil-style instead of defending so that we can play to our strengths on the counter. People calling for two strikers gives me horrible visions:

"Roight, fack all this poncy Yoo-ro-peen passin' stuff, play a facking FOUR FOUR TOO, whack it up 'ere, play 'at lad Wickham so we 'ave some powah 'n hoight, luvvly jubbly. INGGERRRLLLAAAAND"

What game were you watching?

And McEachran wasn't picked because he hasn't played regularly enough

"How England u21s missed Jack Wilshere. He can stand and watch the ball sail over his head as well as anyone in world football."

Made me laugh.

Yeah but who the **** would play as Ozil!

Wickham isn't a bad idea seeing as most of our goal kicks were directed at Danny Rose and we have no real aerial threat, besides, it could be a good excuse to play Albrington because he's got the best delivery in terms of crosses, just no big unit to deliver it too. Best play Cleverly next game though, our closest thing to a playmaker.

Sturridge. Don't laugh! In style, not necessarily in ability. He's done it before, Sturridge, and he should be able to do it again with a few tweaks.

Cleverley or Sinclair, definitely.

Surely it shouldnt matter, if he is good enough for the side then he deserves to be in it. Fabrice Muamba hardly plays for Bolton but he is in the side? Ryan Bertrand has played one game in the last 6months at club level!!

He shouldn't be picked over players like Cleverly, Rodwell and Lansbury, because he's not really proven his ability. (imo)

Ah but that doesn't always work out badly, if you can get Wickham as a Nat Lofthouse type of player and Welbeck/Sturridge like Jimmy Greaves we could be onto something!

I'm being far too optimistic, aren't him?

But he has, Pearce has played him this season and every man and his dog knows what Josh brings to the side. My opinion was if he couldnt get Wilshere then he needed Josh.
