2014 World Cup thread

It's not being frugal with the truth. It can happen and yes I said it is very rare. But would you also want to take the risk of being bitten in a game of football not knowing anyone else's history. The answer would be no. That is what LFCMarshall is saying he would like to be bitten and take a massive risk on his life.

its hardly a massive risk at all there is so many holes in what you are saying especially regarding disease. Being hacked down can easily be used for the same thing you get hacked down breaks the skin a rodent with wheels disease has previously walked and urinated on the spot where the broken skin is. Anything can be made to seem dangerous but whatever you've proven so far in your contribution to this thread that you ain't open to debate so please let's just not bother

I did. Hence why I responded.

For what it's worth, I do agree with you in principle. Not sure I'd prefer to be bitten than elbowed in the face, but I suppose it's all to do with the context.

So I was right then as it translates to he wants to be bitten more than kicked in a match by his quote.

Jumping in again Godcubed without reading what people have said. Read the above quote.

I may have said it wrong, but i have suffered a broken leg from a challenge in football and if i had to choose between the two i'd risk getting bitten, no question.

But would i like to be bitten in a game, absolutely not.

Anyway, got a feeling the Germany USA game could be good today, Germany narrow win I think

Except that isn't what you said. You literally just said "he would like to be bitten". That's not true; LFCMarshall just expressed a PREFERENCE for being bitten over getting a serious injury, which is nothing to do with liking the sensation and everything to do with the lesser of two evils. Never mind.

Yeah, see this is why I mentioned context. I'd much prefer being bitten than suffer a properly nasty injury, but given the choice between being bitten in a random game of football and, I dunno, taking a stud to the leg, I'm pretty sure I'd choose the latter.

Then again I suppose it's probably acceptable to lamp the guy if he's bitten you...

Dont both only need a draw to qualify? I'm not 100 percent genuinely asking, if that's the case wouldn't be surprised to see the draw. 1982 anyone? ;)

Good point actually Epic Terrorist, didn't think of that.

Hopefully nothing to shoddy goes on :@

Nice to see you edited that considering you insulted a nurse originally. For the record there have been a case of HIV being contracted through a human bite. Although the initial test was weak it was still a positive result. I expect a graduate to have known that or been told.

I think so, but I don't think either team will rest on their laurels. There'd be a massive outcry. After all, it is Klinsmann that is coaching the Americans. They'd have to be ultra-careful to avoid any accusations of favouritism.

Interesting.

With over 60 million people infected with HIV worldwide over 25 years, there have only ever been four possible reports of HIV being transmitted through biting, all of which occurred in extremely specific and unusual circumstances.

I'm assuming this is the aforementioned blood in the mouth situation. Regardless, it is really, really, extremely rare for it to happen. Not quite sure what this debate even is any more.

And as I said yet again IT IS RARE. YET IT CAN HAPPEN. That is the whole point of it. Where there is a risk it can happen. If you are unsure what the debate is then why throw your weight behind it? it's obviously above you.

You like nit-picking dont you.

I didn't insult a nurse at all I said it was surprising considering you're a nurse but I thought in the context of what I wrote it wasn't correct so.........and also then you try and insult me by writing I'd expect a graduate to know...that's pretty hypocritical

So there's been one case out of the hundreds of thousands of cases recorded of HIV my god do you know how ridiculous this sounds, look I'm really not being funny but this is so boring if you wanna discuss the hypothetical situations in which a person can contract disease then please let's start a thread in the off topic forum and we can go at it all day long.

Calm down, blimey. I haven't even picked a side in the original positions of this 'debate'; I'm not even disagreeing with you. You're remarkably defensive. I literally just said I can see both sides of the coin. Except now the debate has essentially turned into a discussion on bite-transmission of HIV. I don't think it's unreasonable that I'm a little bit lost now.

In regards to the world cup, Portugal-Ghana should be really interesting depending on what happens in the other game. Portugal are a mess and Ghana playing okay, but the former has way more quality on paper and Pepe back. Should be a cracker.

I am not being defensive. You came into the debate stating such and such yet you try to discredit someone elses opinion on something. I am stating if you want to read what has been said previously which is why I used the caps for it not because I am being defensive but to highlight what I already said. And then you quote "but the risk is low" I know that. I have said that. Jeez.

Thats why I said you like to nit-pick.
