i'm not using this tactic but for years i have always used high pressure and hard tackling and after finishing my first season with bradford city, i did get a higher than usual amount or red and yellow cards

It does happen but I found it levels out once fluid, I'll put up a 10 man plan and a defensive tactic later, i went down to 9 men earlier one through a red and a injury and still got the winner! But I've only had 2 reds all season in 44 games so It's not been that bad for me.

Thanks for this, I started unemployed and ended up with a job in the Scottish League 2 managing Sterling Albion!

Managed to win the league with this and now in season two in league 1, currently top but only just over a third of the way through the season.

Only problem I seem to have is a lot of long balls hit over my defence which seems to catch my team out, this may just be lower league football though XD

Thanks for sharing this.

How are people downloading this, I click on the link and it takes me to a movie download site?

think it may have been due to the lower ability of my players, second season now and you are right now ive cleared out the deadwood got players in i need and playing my formation fluid etc, its quietened down haha, tbh first time ive started with my hometown on fm for nearly 5 years XDXD

OP updated with a Plan B and what to do while down to 10 men.

what about individual training!?!? do u leave them to your assistant or training players on the respective roles!?
thanks in advance :P

Yeah I do, I sign all my coaches and set my assistant to do it like mentioned in the OP. If you want to se up training for individual roles, you can do whatever you want. It's something I thought about and might do later on I think it's just me being lazy lol

Loving this tactic, started as Aston Villa only won 4 from 15 games in all competitions then applied this tactic won 3 from 3including beating Man City and Derby against Birmingham well done Pav. although I have setup my opposition instructions but still need to set them before every game.

It looks like they are not set when you go into match itself, Its because that is the assistant suggestions, It's done this on the last few FM's, But they are set, I assure you. So you don't have to do it every time pal. Otherwise that would be a right pain in the ****. If you look at your oppo instructions on a non match day in the tactics tab you will see that they are still there :) And glad you like it mate, probs suit Villa well. Imagine Ross Mac be good as an Engache

Hey Pav, sorry if you have already answered this somewhere here. Any specific takers required for corners/free kicks? And is it possible for the wingers to be switched to inside forwards or would that screw up the press?

Not a fan of inside forwards, So I mean you could do by all means do what you like, The idea is to get to the byline and cross it so I think if they are cutting inside they would interfere with the Engache tbh. The wingers score goals for fun so you better off leaving it. The corner set up I have the right winger taking the right and the left the left. But experiment, the guide for the corners you can find here, https://strikerless.com/2016/10/19/fm17s-first-effective-corner-routine/#more-4302

Very nice, I might try this with my palace save then, been going horrible so far.

Should work well with Palace, I'd play Townsend left and Zaha Right tho as will give you balance, Should feed Benteke well, I'm still ranked #1 in possession in the prem averaging just below 60% which is pretty encouraging

Good tactic, I love the high press, and this is working well for my Coventry save. Currently in first place in January and the 4th Round of the FA Cup. I have made a few amendments to (or “intending to”) make the tactic more defensively stable:

- Changed wingbacks to inverted wingbacks. When pressing further forward, it floods the midfield making a 2-4-4 but means that the fullbacks are not as far out of position when possession is lost.

- Sweeper keeper, as we press high up and my defence is not particularly pacey, this gives me extra cover. For lower league managers Oliver Davies available on a free is a good option.

As a further change I am considering changing the EG to an SS and the AF to a DF....
