Celtic 3-2 Hamilton (Scottish Cup 4th Round)
Stokes (38) Van Leerdam (24)
Canning (Own Goal 52) McAlister (90)
Lukaku (55)
Well we finally got the goals flowing here today, but to win just by one goal is worrying, all three of the new singings were given debuts today and Obviously Smithies didn’t have the best of debuts as he conceded the two goals. Richardson played well in the centre of midfield, picking out a few key passes. And Boyata came off the bench for the last twenty minutes and didn’t really havemuch else to do.

Dynamo Kiev Steal player from Celtic!!!!
Races Comments “ well during this transfer window of course weve brought in a few new players but weve had repeated intrest from Dynamo for a number of players. Theyve made bids for Kayal, Sung-Yong and Inziguirre. And due to a pre existing clause in his contract Sung-Yong has left the club for a fee of £3.3 Million, this is a big blow because when i tried to convicnce the lad to stay he wouldn’t go into negotians but thats his Choice, he wants to leave Celtic and my group of players and the ambition that we have to play for Dynamo then thats fine. Weve Brought Kieran Richardson in and **** replace him straight away and he wont be missed.”

Celtic Bring in one more player:
Maynor Figueroa:
Position : Left Back,Centre Back
Age: 27
Cost: £2.6 Million
Former Club Wigan
Strengths: First Touch, Pace, Strength, Marking
Weakness: Clumsy Tackles
Number: 19
Nationality : Hondouras

Races Comments “ its great to have signed Maynor, hes a top class player who will help out and will give us more depth in defence, However i do have another thing to say, We were in talks with two other players during the week, Bassong of Tottenham and Anton Ferdinand of Sunderland, and both those players wanted around £60,000 per week which i thought was despicable, i want players here who want to play for Celtic and not the Money.”

Celtic 1-3 Hibernian
Luakaku (16) Trakys (19)
Dickoh (23)
Riordan (46)

Terrible performance in the league, we defended terribly in the first half and we were punished for it, the best goal of the game was the 30 yard smasher from Riordan as he curled the ball into the top corner, Figueroa started at centre back today and in all honesty he was majorly unimpressive, hopefully he picks himself up.

Celtic 3-0 Aberdeen
Samaras (7)
Lukaku (85)
Carcela (90)

Well until the 85th minute we were throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the Aberdeen goal but to no effect, we were having shot after shot, Samaras wasted a lot of those and Star man Carcela hit the post at least 3 times. Carcela finally got the goal he craved as he Smashed the ball into the top corner from 30 yards out it was an absolute treat to see.

Stokes (1,6,19,48) Sutherland (20)
Carcela (22,28)
Boyata (25)
Hooper (62)

Well what a performance, The semi final of the League cup and Stokes was absolutely Faultless today, He scored four and came close to grabbing five as he twice rattled the post. Stokes was brought in for Samaras whos been really inconsistent after a smashing start to the season, he did of course have a lot of help, Carcela and Richardson were brilliant on the wings. Carcelas performances haven’t gone un noticed, he got a new contract and some serious intrest from clubs all over Europe.

Samaras (66)
Well not the best of scorlines, but it doesn’t reflect the game fully, we should have scored a bucket load, Richardson hit the bar, Juarez hit the post and Stokes twice hit the post, im sure its a record for us. But Samaras came off the bench and scored a real poachers effort, his original header was saved but the rebound fell to his feet and he finished well.

What a great victory today, and infront of our home fans aswell, Lukakus impressive form is continuing and its great to see. Young centre back Rogne got two today and i was impressed with his performance and to see Kieran,(Richardson) finally grab himself a goal for the club was brilliant, the lads been top class and to see him get the goal was brilliant. LLukakus second goal was argueably the best of the game as he lobbed the keeper with his weaker foot from the edge of the area.

Well what can i really say about this match, we twice gave away a 2 goal lead, with some despicable defending mixed with some wonder strikes, Robertson scoring 2 fabolous goals. It was great to see we had 5 different scorers, but the fact that we couldn’t defend is despicable. In the summer there will be some Defenders brought in and Possibly Mr Goodwille.

Great result away from home. Stokes grabbed a lovely goal thanks to some great play by Richardson and Samaras to set him up after Rakitic had gave Sevilla the lead. We now have an away goal going into the second leg which is to be played at Celtic Park. I hope this tough tie hasn’t tired the players out too much as the next match is against Rangers.

Most football rivalries are due to a competition of a sporting rivalry and geographical factors. What makes the Celtic – Rangers rivalry as explosive as it is, is the presence of a religious rivalry as well as a political one.

Rangers is a Protestant club while Celtic is a Catholic one. Rangers are Loyalists while Celtic are Republican. All of these elements contribute to the Rangers –Celtic Rivalry being what it is.

Then there are the players.

When Mo Johnston signed for Rangers in 1989 it caused a massive storm. Manager Graeme Souness had just violated the unwritten rule of not signing any player who was Catholic. Supporters from both sides were furious and finally had something they could agree on. Johnston played for Rangers, but the stress of the situation meant he didn’t play his best football.

In recent years, both sides have acknowledged that the Celtic – Rangers rivalry has at times gotten out of hand and to their credit taken steps to rein it in. Many incendiary songs and chants have been banned as has the ability to show banners or flags which are provocative.

On field is where the Rangers –Celtic Rivalry is hottest. Between them the two have won the League 94 of the 113 titles. Celtic has won 34 Scottish Cups, Rangers has won 33 and the next most is Queen’s Park with 10.

The two play often and whenever it is, it always seems to be a classic. This was the case in the 1957 Scottish Cup final. Celtic won the final 7-1 to take the Celtic – Rangers rivalry up a few notches. When Celtic made its run to the 2003 UEFA Cup final, they took every opportunity they could to rub it in the nose of Rangers fan. Celtic has a rich European history and whatever happens domestically in Scotland, it is difficult for Rangers to have a comeback for their lack of European success. Of course this didn’t stop them taunting Celtic after they had lost the 2003 UEFA Cup final.

Rangers made the final of the 1961 Cup Winners Cup where they lost to Fiorentina and they also lost in the final six years later to Bayern Munich. They came close to winning the Cup Winners Cup again in 1972 but lost in the final to Dynamo Moscow. Rangers also lost the 2008 UEFA Cup final – their defeat coming from the hands of Zenit St Petersburg. As far as the European Cup goes, Rangers came closest in the early years. In 1960, they made it as far as the semi finals until Eintracht Frankfurt knocked them out.

All of these achievements combined will never equate what Celtic did in 1967 when it won the European Cup. It defeated Nantes in the second round and followed this up with a defeat of Yugoslavia’s Vojvodina in the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals they defeated Dukla Prague and famously defeated Inter in the final. Rangers simply doesn’t have a comeback for this.

Kenny Miller didn’t have to go through what Mo Johnston did and was allowed to sign for Celtic after having played for Rangers. He was just the third player since 1945 to have play for both sides of the Celtic – Rangers rivalry. After a lackluster year he left Celtic Park for Derby and following a year at Pride Park moved back to Rangers.

Alfie Conn won the Scottish Cup with both sides. He won it for Rangers in 1973 where they played Celtic in the final and in 1977 his Rangers side defeated Celtic.

Pitch invasions is part of the lore of the Rangers –Celtic Rivalry. At the end of the replay of the 1909 Scottish Cup, fans rushed the field due to their upset about there being no winner and also to express their upset of having to watch a third game. There was also a pitch invasion following the 1980 Scottish Cup Final. Celtic won with a goal in extra time. Drunk fans ran onto the field immediately following the full time whistle and a brawl ensued. People were hurt and many were injured. This disgraceful incident led to alcohol being banned from all Scottish football grounds as well as the introduction of early kickoffs. Thankfully incidents like this haven’t been repeated since.

The Celtic – Rangers rivalry used to be very bitter and personal. In recent years, with the realization that co-operation is the way to go; respect has become more of a part of it. In some ways the Rangers –Celtic Rivalry is bad for the game in Scotland. There is such a gulf between these two sides and the rest that there is the danger of it becoming boring and uneventful. There is also the risk that some of the other clubs in Scotland may fold. Thus at the very least, Celtic and Rangers need each other to provide some meaning to their lives. To try and solve this problem, some people have suggested the Celtic – Rangers rivalry being transplanted to England or in some European Super League. Who knows if that if the right way to go?

Celtic and Rangers have such a massive advantage of every other club in Scotland that it’s difficult to see another club besides them winning the League. Maybe this has been a reason for the slight defusing of the Celtic – Rangers rivalry.

Who knows where the Celtic – Rangers rivalry is heading and how it will affect Scottish football. Until then, expect some fantastic Old Firm matches.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ps0-lgt7F4U

After Defeat in the last two Old Firm Derbys, The whole Rangers setup have remained silent, not even a cleaner is speaking out of turn however, the proud Celtic manager had this to say

Races Comments “ well, just three days ago we got a brilliant result away at Sevilla and i hope the lads aren’t too tired, this week or so will be the most important in our season, weve our match against Rangers today then in just a few days weve got Sevilla at home and if we win them all then ill be happy.”

League Cup Final
View attachment 144241
The cup has its origins in a regional cup competition called the Southern League Cup which was introduced in 1940 when wartime restrictions led to a suspension of the Scottish Cup. This tournament was largely regional and did not involve all of the teams who comprised the Scottish Football League prior to the outbreak of war.
The first official Scottish Football League Cup was contested during the 1946–47 season when Rangers defeated Aberdeen in the final. However, Aberdeen still includes their victory in the 1945–46 Southern League Cup tournament among their honours.
The competition was very popular with supporters during the first few decades of its existence. The tournament consisted of 8 or 9 groups consisting of 4 or 5 teams. The groups were seeded into 2 sets with the top 16 teams in Division 1 making up the first four Groups. This guaranteed that 4 'top' teams would play 4 'lesser' teams in the quarter-finals.
Extra games when the Premier League was formed and expanded European competitions meant that by the early 1980s, its long-winded format, which involved group rounds played early on in the season leading to two-legged knock-out rounds similar to the modern UEFA Champions League, attracted much criticism.
In the mid-1980s the tournament was revamped to a shorter, single elimination knock-out style with a final played prior to Christmas, which provided the excitement of a cup final early in the season.
During the 1999–00 competition the semi-finals and final were moved to the springtime in order to avoid the congestion of fixtures caused by the early rounds of the UEFA club competitions and Scotland’s representatives in Europe were given automatic byes until the third round of competition.

Well what an absolutely brilliant performance from the lads, Especially Stokes. First of all we won the penalty and Lukaku who has been sublime all season stepped up took a deep breath and buried the ball into the top corner. Stokes grabbed the first after Mulgrew swung a brilliant ball in and stokes then brilliantly passed the ball into the back of the net.Stokes Second goal was brilliant after Lukaku played a sublime 40 yard through ball for Stokes to take down well and pass into the back off the net. Stokes final goal was some great team play which found him in the box free and he slotted home.

Races Comments “ it was brilliant to see Stokes out there today, his performance was top notch and im sure **** have some celebrating to do tonight, so will all the lads as its our first trophy of many to come under my management, the only downfall however is the severe lack of money that the Scottish FA have, we got just £110,000 for winning the competition were as we got that for winning one match in the Europa league, for the league, and national team aswell as reputation to get better there will need to be more
investment.”

The Old Firm is a common collective name for the association football clubs Celtic and Rangers , both based in Glasgow, Scotland.
The origin of the term is unclear. One theory has it that the expression derives from Celtic's first game in 1888, which was played against Rangers. However, William J. Murray states that the term derives from the commercial benefits of the two clubs' rivalry, which were viewed with distaste in some quarters in the early days of the game.
The two clubs are the most successful in Scotland, having won between them 67 Scottish Cups, 40 Scottish League Cups and 95 Scottish League championships (as of May 2010). Interruptions to their ascendancy have occurred infrequently, most recently with the challenge of the New Firm ofAberdeen and Dundee United in the first half of the 1980s and other times happening in the 1890s and 1950s. Since the 1995–96 season, the Old Firm clubs have finished in the top two places in every season, apart from 2005–06, when Hearts finished second ahead of Rangers. As of 2 March 2011, Rangers and Celtic had played each other 393 times: Rangers winning 156 matches, Celtic 143 matches and 94 draws. The two clubs normally compete four times a year in the SPL and are regularly drawn against each other in the two Scottish cup competitions.
The clubs have large support bases around Glasgow, but also have supporters clubs in most towns throughout Scotland and in many cities around the world. The presence of Rangers and Celtic has been estimated to be worth £120 million to the Scottish economy.

Well this wraps up the treble and the Season for us. Things were all down hill for Dundee after Kenneth got sent off and in all honesty Dundee cant have too much to complain about the sending off as Samaras was clean through on goal and Kenneth brought him down on the edge off the area. We took the lead on the 37th minute as Samaras dispossessed a defender then curled the ball into the bottom corner off the net. Kayal then doubled our lead with a bullet header as Richardson crossed in and the midfielder scored a bullet header. Rogne then wrapped the match up as he headed in a stokes cross.

End OF Season Review

Well over all this season was a success overall, We managed to pull off a brilliant Domestic Treble, and beat our Fiercest rivals Rangers 4 times and quite comfortably this year, plus they won nothing at all this year which was also a bonus. On the subject of Rangers they announced Martin Jol as their new Manager. Well our performance in the league was a joy and below is the table, we scored a whopping 117 goals and only conceded 38 which is top class. We were also 23 points ahead of Rangers but hopefully they will put more of a challenge up in the coming Season.

Well this lad has been absolutely outstanding this year, 12 goals from a winger is brilliant to see, he did have some injuries during the season aswell and always bounced back well and always one of the first names on the team sheet and despite interest from numerous clubs hes always been commited to Celtic and what were doing here.

Stokes:

Assists : 14
M.O.T.M:5
Average Rating: 7.43
Suprise player off the season for me, the lad played mainly on the right side of midfield in an attacking role and managed to get alomsot thirty goals, granted he did play upfront the odd time but the majority was on the right side and he never complained, great professional and a great season from the lad.

They weren’t the only big players this year, they were however my top 4 players, we did have a brilliant squad and i couldn’t fault any of them because they all had a part to play. Loovens was an absolute rock in defence and made the centre back position his own. Kayal and Juarez along with Brown regularly fought it out for the central midfield positions along with Joe Ledley and whatever partenership we used they were all brilliant, There was also Mulgrew whos various corners, through balls and freekicks created alot of chances and his tacklings improving and hes vast becoming a great attacking left back. We also had Forster in goal, for such a young lad he command his area brilliant and was a top class shot stopper and i will be making a move for him in the summer. Then we had the January arrivals in Boyata and Richardson, Boyata soon commanded a starting place as did Richardson, Richardsons pace on the left side of midfield mixed with excellent technique and an eye for a pass was brilliant.

There is However a few downsides to the season, the money available by the Scotish FA for League Standings and cup wins is Dispicable as seen below, the moeny we received for winning the League isn’t even enough to cover our Squad payout, the other thing which was a downside was the abysmal form of Hooper, given the lad wasn’t able to force his way in between, Samaras, Lukaku and Stokes but when given a chance he barely impressed, although he did show promise at the end of the season and i cant wait to see how the lad comes along this season although he could be on his way out.
