Poor Month Again!

December 2009

Usually Cadbury fans would be pleased with the way the club have performed this season. However, since Ben was installed the clubs sights have been set higher. The fans were promised wins and this is something which the side have struggled to achieve. The first game is against Southam United, in the Midlands League Cup 2nd Round, then league games against Castle Vale JKS, Pelsall Villa and Dotshill Colts.

Results

Cadbury Athletic 1 - 2 Southam United
GOALS: Dean Broadbent (5), Charlie Jones (10), Adam Pickett (49)

Castle Vale JKS 2 - 2 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Steve Cole (pen. 20), David Robinson (29), Chris Newton (42), Lawrence Horton (72)

Cadbury Athletic 2 - 0 Pelsall Villa
GOALS: Delton Francis (37), Joe Kennedy (pen. 87)

Dotshill Colts 1 - 1 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Paramjit Chakraborty (54), Delton Francis (80)

So a disappointing month for Cadbury, with only 1 win, 1 draw and 2 loss. They will really need to improve their performances if they are to achieve the top position although there has been an improvement in the league position to 3rd place.

Difficult Start to the New Year

January 2010

Cadbury Athletic are set to hit the ground running in 2010 with a busy month in store, playing 5 games this month. The side will want to string together a good run of results to continue their push for a top 2 position. The team are facing Pershore Town, Bolehall Swifts, Racing Club Warwick, Coventry Copsewood and Southam United. The pick of the games is surely Bolehall Swifts, who currently hold 2nd place.

Results
Cadbury Athletic 1 - 0 Pershore Town
GOALS: Delton Francis

Bolehall Swifts 2 - 2 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Alex Andrews (6 mins), Joe Kennedy (26), Michael Wardle (39), Richard Church (48).

Racing Club Warwick 0 - 1 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Lee Newton (O.G. 58)

Cadbury Athletic 1 - 1 Coventry Copsewood
GOALS: Colin Carr-Lawton (37), John Powell (67)

Cadbury Athletic 1 - 2 Southam United
GOALS: Adam Pickett (71), Martin Harper (77), Colin Carr-Lawton (79)

After 2 wins, 2 draws and a loss, Cadbury find themselves dropped to 5th place. However, as the league is so tight towards the top, they have actually closed the gap on the league leaders to a mere 3 points, with 25 games played and 11 to go. This means a maximum of 33 points are available. The league leaders, Walsall Wood can now only achieve 76 points, if all remaining games are to be won.

Alright mate,

Good luck with it looks like you're just gonna have to power through the poor form. I said 7-14 on the getting promotions because if your struggling now, winning and signing players, then you'll continue to struggle until you jump up a few divisions.

Ah-hah, I managed Cadbury Athletic before, got bored though after about 5 months.

Moving On Up

February 2010

After Cadbury Athletic slipped to fifth last month, they will be looking to make the most of a quiet February. With only 3 games, the side will hope to get some serious points out of all teams, especially as the business end of the season fast approaching. First up is a true six pointer, the league leaders Walsall Wood. If Cadbury are able to beat Walsall, then they will draw level on points and be a fantastic start to the month. A mild drizzly day is the set for the game, which should be an all out affair. Following the opening game is relegation candidates Castle Vale. This should be a fairly easy 3 points. Then comes mid tablers Nuneaton Griff, who cannont be underestimated.

Results

Walsall Wood 0 - 1 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Delton Francis (88)

Cadbury Athletic 4 - 2 Castle Vale
GOALS: Colin Carr-Lawton (7, 51), Delton Francis (18), Danny Harvey (pen 38), Nicky Tracey (71), Dean Burton (84)

Nuneaton Griff 1 - 1 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Delton Francis (22), Joseph Ratcliffe (61)

So after 7 points from 9, the side have just reason to be please with themselves. Particularly as the side beat Walsall Wood, after constant pressure, with a last gasp goal in the 88th minute. This now puts the side up to 3rd in the league, behind Pilkington ***'s and Bolehall Swifts. With only 2 points separating 3rd from the top 2, it is all to play for, and the race is on!

Transfer Update

In other news, Cadbury have signed 2 players in January, with the 19 year old Centre Midfielder Michael Wardle coming in on loan from Worcester City. He is said to be a sure start along side James Palmer in the centre.
For the second signing, they have gone for experience, signing Lee Cowling on a free transfer. He is now one of a number of Cadbury players who are making there come back to football after a number of years leave. He was a school boy at Nottingham Forest, who at that time were in the top flight. A truly astute buy from Ben, with only £20 extra on the wage bill. He will start ahead of Kevin Thick at left back.

Takeover Rumour Update - 2nd March 2010

The Chairman of Cadbury Athletic has once again expressed his wish to leave the club. After the failed takeover from a Russian tycoon, he is now looking to other members of the board to takeover his responsibilities.

Not happy the might HSJ are lagging in 10th! Is it just the team names that are used then random players are assigned to each club ? sounds an interesting prospect.

Quiet Month For Cadbury

March 2010

Cadbury are coming into March in good form, after an undefeated February. The side only have 3 games to play this month, and will be looking for wins against 3 relatively straight forward teams. Alveston are the first challenge with Continental Star and Bartley Green forming second and third respectively.

Results

Cadbury Athletic 2 - 1 Alveston
GOALS:Delton Francis (42), Brett James (48), Tommy Herbert (66)

Continental Star 0 - 2 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Delton Francis (10), Michael Wardle (31)

Cadbury Athletic 0 - 1 Bartley Green
GOALS: Michael Johnson (23)

Overall a positive month for the team, winning 6 points out of 9 points available. Unfortunately the league leaders, Pilkington ***, have moved a point further ahead, however, the 2 sides are coming together in an epic clash of the titans, for the first game of April. If the gaffer can mastermind a win over the leaders, and with only 4 games after that, they might just be able to clinch the title.

The End Of The Season!
April/May/June 2010

The end is near! After a long and tiring season the league is winding up. With 3 points separating the top 3 teams, the league could come right down to the last game. Cadbury Athletic are playing league leaders Pilkington ***'s, Massey Ferguson, Brocton, Castle Vale JKS, and a relatively easy finale game against Heather St John's. If the side can beat Pilkington ***'s then that will be a massive boost which if continued, could lead the side to a top 2 finish, qualifying them for play off's.

Results

Pilkington ***'s 1 - 1 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Ian Dunwell (44), Delton Francis (68)

Massey Ferguson 0 - 0 Cadbury Athletic

Cadbury Athletic 1 - 1 Brocton
GOALS: Joe Kennedy (pen. 87)

Cadbury Athletic 1 - 1 Castle Vale JKS
GOALS: Jake Freeman (12), Delton Francis (86)

The end has come, and after a relatively poor run of form, despite being undefeated, the side went into the last game of the season with 1 point off second place Bolehall Swifts, and 3 off league leaders Pilkington ***'s. After 4 draws the club have now been forced to rely on the other teams mishaps.

Heather St John's 0 - 1 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Delton Francis (21)

Well, the Cadbury Boss' disparaging comments about his rival, Phil Preedy, seemed to have worked, as the side surprisingly lost against Bartley Green. This means Cadbury's win against HSJ was good enough to secure the coveted second place, guaranteeing the side £6000 and a place in the play off's, along side Pilkington ***'s who finished a meagre 1 point in front, on just 61 points.

The draw has been announced for the play-off's and Cadbury face a tough match against Heath Town Rangers, the Sport Italia West Midlands League Premier Division Champions. If Cadbury can overcome the odds, and beat Heath Town, then they would be through to the final, and a chance to be promoted to tier 9 of English Football.

The Play-Off's!

The Semi Final

HeathTownRangers.jpg

Heath Town Rangers 1 - 2 Cadbury Athletic
GOALS: Chris Newton (56), John Booth (80), Kevin Thick (118)

A great result for the club, who had an shock after their star goalkeeper Colin Cassidy was injured in the 62nd minute. Steve Hill came on, but unfortunately was powerless to stop John Booth's second half goal, however after a tense period of extra time, Kevin Thick popped up late in extra time to win the game, and avoid the dreaded penalties!

The win puts the side through to the final against Woodley Town, the FTB Futbol Hellenic League Division One Champions. A tough game for Cadbury, who are placed at 20-1 to win the game, with Woodley comfortable favourites at 1-14.

Woodley Town 0 - 3P Cadbury Athletic

So there we have it! They did the impossible, and masterminded success. Tier 9 beckons, and hats off to Colin Cassidy, after saving every single penalty. However, Fans and pundits alike are placing Cadbury's success in the hands of the new rookie boss. Rumours have been strife that he has lost interest in the club, after being paid a measly total of £6000 for a years work, but he has issued a statement:

" So yes, I'm used to being paid much more, but I want to make this point very clear, I will not leave this club. My project will continue, this side will succeed and I will create a tradition of winning in this club, which will still be around after I am gone."

Takeover Completed!

The Director Lee Eustace has taken over as Chairman of Cadbury Athletic. In a personal message to his manager, Lee thanks him for his patience during an undoubtedly stressful time, but wishes to reassure him that he has his total backing after a fantastic season. Mr Eustace also informed the boss that there are no plans to provide the club with any investment at this stage.
