Just like the Scottish Cup we have our 6th win in a row and our 10th in 11 years. Celtic were strong yet again but a distant 2nd. Hibs are back ahead of Rangers with things really close between the two teams. Ross County remains the 5th best team in the country but their manager David Hopkins who once upon a time scored vital goals to help Scotland qualify for the 1998 World Cup. Can they roll onto a 3rd successful run with their next manager? Ayr builds on their previous success for the 3rd season in a row. St Mirren and Dundee Utd were close to the top 6 and are now expected to be challenging. Dundee not only stayed up in their first season but was comfortably ahead of Kilmarnock & Hearts who fall into the playoff spot and are continuing to look in major danger of going down even if they win the playoff. The saddest part of the season in the league was Queens Park who ended their 10-year run in the top flight. The points deduction was not the direct reason behind their relegation but their form totally collapsed when that happened and by the time they started getting results it was too little and too late. Their administration is mind-boggling since they have a £30m profit in the transfer market over the last 5 seasons and total wages are under £5m a year and average over 8,000 attendance per game. Due to the Administration, they will now have to pay £1.2m in loan debt for the next 10 seasons so we may not see them return to the top flight. Replacing them to the shock of nobody is Motherwell. Their 3rd Championship title wins in a row. Wonder if they can finally get themselves into a stat to stay up. At last.
Playoffs
Hearts 3-2 Dunfermline
Dunfermline finished 1 point short of Motherwell in the race for the league then lost a first-leg lead in the playoffs
Managers
We spoke about Ross County earlier while Hearts manager Lee Bullen continues the merry go round of Managers Hearts have had since ending Robbie Neilson's year stay at the club. Neilson also featured in this year's manager list with the club's collapse into administration costing him his job.
In Europe
Ross County was the star of the season for the Scots winning the Europa League. Even the Nice scorer Alfie Stewart a former Aberdeen player who played 26 times for Ross County in 2024.
Celtic like ourselves fell at the last 16 they went out 5-0 to eventual runner-ups Liverpool
Rangers finished outside the top 24 in the Champions League
Hibs had a solid run to the last 16 of the Europa League Arminia Biefeld beat them 3-0
Dundee Utd was our annual qualifying failure.
Champions League Final
Liverpool 0-2 Bayern Munich
Bayern confirms their dominance of the save with a 5th Champions League win.
Squad Review
Goalkeeper
The season plan of playing Ajayi as the 1A and Dussart as the 1B worked very well, Dussart was close in appearances due to injuries to Ajai and a trip to the African Nations in the new year. I'm now in a position where if an acceptable bid for Dussart comes in he will leave.
Defense
The center-backs were the only guys that managed to stay fit all season. Both played fine but not spectacular. De Falco & Villareal both missed too much time with injuries. Villareal at 27 was bought to be the best in the world and didn't do much better than Munro. Sekulic was a fantastic backup. Not
Midfield
My 4 starting midfielders Goni, Singh, Martinez & Guner were class and should all stay for next season. Except Goni who is 29 and is in the window to be moved on. I'm hoping for a bid for Lopez so I can play Alvarez & Lowndes more. Bakardzhiv has requested a move so this could be his last season with Aberdeen. as has my right sided backup Hector Senese so who knows how the wings will look
Attack
I had to do a doubletake when i saw the amount of goals Ewing scored in what will be his final season with us. He asked twice to move for regular football and after being such a good servant to us he will leave us clearly in his peak. Bavidge spent another season injured too often but recovered enough to regain the Golden Boot. Gochev was the backup but got plenty of games, especially once Andy MacIver who was having the greatest season any striker has had for me when he had a season-ending injury. I'll have a returning player as the 4th striker.
Players for life
Bradley Cummings - DC
P381 G19
Last season as wonderkind is now a man leading the defense for club & country.
Owen Munro - DL
P325 G1
The running joke of Munro not scoring has another strike. He was solid when he was called upon this season. Definitely suited to missing the biggest games where he falls short.
Krasimir Bakardzhiev - ML
P393 G47
It seems like the Bulgarian won't make it to 400 games for Aberdeen. Might be ahead of myself as this is the 3rd time he has asked for a move in his 10 years at Aberdeen and the 2nd time i have accepted.
Alfie Bavidge - ATT
P750 G573
Hopefully, it was just a down year.
It was. Bavidge came back and was better than a goal a game.
Andy MacIver - ATT
P135 G88
New player alert. The player who will generate the 2nd era of the save is one of the game's best players.
Rankings
Club Ranking - 2nd

National Team ranking - 14th
No change going into the Euros
Awards
Player of the Year
Urko Goni
Hard to believe i picked up the Spanish winger on a free to back up 3 summers ago. Now almost 30 and valued at £70m he'll be hard to keep a hold of.
Young Player of the Year
Andy MacIver
14th year in a row Aberdeen won this award. MacIver was on for more goals than games played before going down.
Top Scorer
Alfie Bavidge
8th win and one of the more impressive with his 29 goals coming in only 22 games. Maciver also had a monster season with 24 in 22. Gochev completes a Dons top 3 that led to us breaking the national record for goals in a season.
Team of the Year
Far too many Rangers players for the 4th placed team.
