April

After a very importaint month the usual mixed bag of results leaves us 3 points above the drop and a tricky last 2 games against championship challangers Lazio and a resurgant AC Milan

Player of the month - Eden Hazard secured the win against Parma and got the point against Catania how importaint will these goals be for us?

Sampdoria 1-0 Modena
Im not used to the big matches going against me but thats exactly what happend today as sampdoria leaped over us in the religation fight

Modena 1-1 Napoli
Martinez
A very late equaliser from our back up midfielder gives us a huge point in the religation battle and may all but end Napolis title challange

Udinese 2-0 Modena
Another dire display infront of goal pulls us right down into the religation fight!

Parma 1-2 Modena
Collison, Hazard
After slipping up in the last religation battle with Sampdoria it was mega importaint we got the result against Parma and we did

Modena 1-1 Catania
Hazard
Having had the lead and plenty of chances to put the match beyond Catania we conceaded the equaliser and then spent the last 10 minutes on the backfoot hanging on for a draw

The Final 3 games

The religation dogfight. Will Modena stay up?
3 cup finals is how Darran Donald describes the final 3 matches. He declaires that 4 points would be enough to stay up and they must start with a win away to Livorno today otherwise they'll be in serious trouble

Livorno 1-2 Modena
O'Donnell 15
Marconi 38
Collison 50

A massive result with James Collison striking what turned out to be the winning goal that we deserved. 6 points away from religation and +16 goals should mean we'll be in serie A next season

The season ended on a bit of a sour note with two tight defeats against better teams. A big rebuild for next season as we'll try to break away from the lower midtable

Modena 0-1 Lazio
After putting up a strong fight and almost holding off Lazio for most of the match with 10 men but Lazios advantage final shone through and we had another defeat

AC Milan 1-0 Modena
In a similar turn of events to the Lazio game the better team eventually overpowered our little team who were knackered after a long hard season

Season 9 2017/2018 Season review

Serie A
The first few months of the season went quite well, finding ourselfs in the top 10. Then camethe winter months. From December through to march our squad was crippled with injurys, suspensions and African nations call ups left us getting 2 wins in 4 months and left us falling over the line of survival, thankfully on the right side.

Italian Cup
Had No problems in getting through the cup until we faced Genoa who just managed to beat us

Player of the season
1st - Eden Hazzard - After breaking the bank to bring in Hazzard and he performed above the level of all our other players as you would expect from such a star player

2nd - Richard O'Donnell - Demoted from player of the year last term. Spent the start of the season as a sub, then in midfield but after Matveev went on an incredible run of not scoring we put O'Donnell up front alone and despite a downturn in form for the team O'Donnell was one of the players singlehandedly winning games

3rd - Joel Rojas - A youngster with a big future in the game. Never usually put my trust in a young keeper but this guy was amazing this season. Without him we would probably have gone down.

Season overview - Mid Table was the aim and unfortunatly i'd say 15th was just short of this. However we avoided religation which was the pivitol aim of the season and with the strength of this squad staying in Seria A was an achievment i feel

Overview
Seria A - 15th
Italian Cup - 2nd Round

Like the season before and the season that will follow the squad was totally rebuilt to try and stay in Seria A which we did! So who was the main men in keeping us in Serie A

Eugene Khacheridi - Fell bellow the 7.0 raiting i was hoping he would get but did the job beside Rivas for most of the season

Jociel - The young Brazilian really failed to make any impact this season and i will be hoping to send him out on loan next year and hopfully he'll fit in better somewere else and come back to us a better player

R Matysiak - Another player who didnt quite live up to expectation and with at least three new center midfielders coming in during the summer hopfully Matysiak will be leaving in the summer

Eden Hazard - Eden was always going to be the importaint player for us this season and this he proved to be. Goals assists and man of the match performances ensured he won the club and my player of the year
