That's fine, I deal with people that make no sense all the time.
Your post is fine though. You're doing better because your tactic is better balanced now. Not every game will go according to plan though. Your tactic may be fine, but your strikers will have off days or just be out of form. The consistency of your players plays a part. So does morale, motivation, pressure and focus. It's good to have a plan B for those days, but it shouldn't happen too often anyway.
The tactic isn't perfect, but it's has much better balance to it compared to how it started out. The AI often do better than us in that department, because they're not scared of being defensive and soaking up pressure before counter-attacking. Most of us playing FM want to dominate games and most of the time we are the dominant team. Generally speaking, the counter-attacking team has opportunities to create better CCCs than the dominant team, from which they're able to score. It's obvious when you think about it. On the counter there won't be many defenders back, so with good movement you can create good scoring chances. You'd have to work harder to break down a defensive team.
Unless you're the weaker team, playing with defensive tactics, you're not going to get situations where you create 1 CCC and win 1-0 when they've created 6 CCCs. I've been there and I would much rather be the team creating 6 CCCs and winning than the little team hoping for that one golden chance to win.
