So what is your opinion?
Is footballer's pay justified?

Yes. End of discussion.

Who cares?

If you're ****** off about people earning a lot of money, why stop at footballers. Some people inherit money, for doing nothing.

Lucky *****.

Ours are, and most only get paid about £850 a week :S

Obviously they are, this is why I hate people like Rooney who aren't happy unless they have money, they have the job people like us dream of and they just abuse it, all for money.

The majority of people do, footballers get paid more money then ANYONE needs per week, while you get people who actually do stuff for us and the country fighting for us and saving peoples life who still find it difficult to fund a living! Despite having job more important then any other job.

Yes, but what can you do about it? The game is becoming more and more of a business, and players are becoming more commercialised. Examples? Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi. Clinical ones. Used to be David Beckham, but probably is in the United States.

I would love for them to cut the wages down, and give some to the people serving on the frontlines of Iraq and Afghanistan, but alas ..

Agreed. The real heroes should be people doing big jobs but earning low wages compared to what most footballers are getting.

Lots of real football heroes are slumming it down in rubbish leagues, people who love the game but haven't been blessed with talent.

Who votes for a wage cap?

At the top level yes they are. Footballers at the top level dont know what the real world consist of, thats why you get players like Rooney and Tevez holding out for more money etc. To them that is normal but to us its just obsurd. Yes i know football is a short carrer but what difference does earning 50k a week for 15 ish years to earning 50k for a few years than 100 for another couple and an extra 50 so on and so on. Its part greed and part not being educated to the real world.

No. Can't be bothered to go into it though.
In short - Supply and Demand

The majority of people care do they? They're kept up at night by the thought of Rooney making so much? How daft.

They earn a disproportionate amount of money for what they actually do. So do most sports stars... models... actors... People with a talent for something that brings some form of entertainment. ****, even people with no talent at all.

The Kardashian family earned $65mil last year. Do you think any of them run as much as Messi? Unless you want to back a Communist society you'll have to face that people will earn a lot of money and some won't. If you do want to back a Communist society, I've got plenty of leaflets for you.

look at it this way, if you was a football player on 150k a week and they said they are cutting your wages down to 100k. would you be happy? no

At least I know there's 4 delusional people on this forum.

How in the world are footballers wages fair?!

not sure if this is true but i heard footballers pay very little tax aswell i heard rooney pays 2% tax on his wage stupid right :O altho tbh not 100% this is true :p

Riiightt..

That's not the point though. oO)

If people don't understand why footballers are paid what they are then they need a simple lesson in economics.

As for "soldiers should be paid footballers wages!" don't be rediculous, I mean seriously, some people should actually think before they speak.

There are threads on this where people have tried to discuss this before, it never works out too well but whatever.

I don't care either way, it's the owners money and they can spend it however they like.

To be fair to them - if they're being offered crazy amounts they're not going to say no are they.

Of course they are overpaid but in fairness to them, I disagree when people say they are being greedy. In life you do what you can to make the most you can. Footballers are humans to and have families and children as well. If you're earning 80K per week, which is a crazy amount and easily enough for you to live off, and someone comes in and says we'll give you 100K per week, nobody in their right mind would say no without a proper valid reason.

At the end of the day, whether they're doing it for the money or just because they love it - football is a job for them. When you're in a job you look to earn as much money as you can. That is what they are doing. If their bosses are stupid enough to give them XYZ thousand a week then that is their boss' problem not theirs.
