I think they are, but law of demand and supply thinks otherwise ;)
Example:
Rich guys pays **** load of money for some big diamonds. Why ? Cuz diamonds are rare.
Messi, Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez etc, type of players are rare.
Rare = expensive

the owner doesnt have to offer than. you have taken a one sided view on this? you dont think some owners will offer that? and a footballer isnt going to go "you know what i think you are paying me too much" no one would

anyway the answer to this:

supply and demand.

Its as simple as this. If the money is in the game, the players are the ones who should get it. Otherwise who would get the money? Some fat **** board member who does nothing out on the pitch to gain results and money for the club. The money in the game has to go somewhere it's that simple. It's like saying why does someone who plays the stock-market well earn so much money for saying buy or sell. The majority of the money in every market in the world is always given to those who are best at what they do. As for the soldiers thing, those people volunteer to risk their lives, nobody forces them to and in my opinion to risk your life for reasons that you personally have no first hand information to is insane.

So all of those upset about the money footballers earn stop watching top level football and commit yourself to non league, no extortionate wages there but i guarentee your love for this sport will wain. Im happy to pay for my 'expensive' tickets and keep watching the best players in the world! We pay their wages to be entertained and that is one thing the sport never fails me on!!

In my opinion a Soldier/Nurse/Whatever deserves a footballers wage when they can score a 40yrd screamer, until then I'm sorry but no.
But footballers aren't risking their lives for the country and performing life saving acts. I'm sure that most ordinary people can score open goals that some highly paid players miss on a regular basis!

Also, the taxes that a footballers will pay in a week, will pay for a nurse or a soldier for a year... without people with this much wealth, we couldnt afford to pay for nurses/soldiers/etc anyway. unless we become a communist state, and who wants that

The problem with that is we live in a capitalist and a bit socialist (we are not a true capitalist society otherwise there would be no things like government support) society. Soildiers/nurses are not rare are more importantly they do not actually generate money therefore the system they work in has to limit their wages. This is why employees in private healthcare in general obtain more money than those in the NHS because private healthcare makes more money so their employees get more money.

Besides have you seen the taxes players on such wages pay massive amounts, it's not like the money they are being paid could be used for something else because it would not have even been generated in the first place.

different proffession entirely. one is privately funded, one is goverment funded.

footballers generate money, otherwise they wouldnt be paid so much. Rooney makes 180k a week. 90k of that each week pays for our health care. thats just one example

This is what annoys me about people that join any of the forces. They choose to risk their lives and fight for the country and instantly think they are heroes.

they are heroes, whichever way you cut it. doesnt mean they should be paid loads because that isnt how the market works

I love the sport, but TBH, when someone gets paid 50k a week, to kick a pig's bladder around a piece of grass is overpaid.

So my mate's cousin, who dropped out of college and is currently on the dole whilst he signs up for the army is a hero? Their are intelligent few that join the army, and then their is the rest who aren't capable of doing any other job that join as a last resort.

I know quite a few, all of which are school friends that were thick as 2 planks and joined as it was the only thing they were qualified to do.

That is shallow. Anyone that chooses to defend their country is a hero. If you think that they volunteer to be classed as heroes, you are stupider than your comment suggests.

Armed Forces>Any other 'heroes'

Somebody who is willing to put themself forward to fight for their country deserves anyone's respect, regardless of their intelligence.

you really are a class A mug sayin that. And thats the biggest insult you can give to people who put their lives on the front line, or take part in any conflict. sorry that was OT, but it really ****** me off that remark.

I know a lot of people who share the same views. Whatever happened to freedom of speech? Certainly doesn't apply at times on this forum.

Agreed with this.

Although you're ignoring the rest of us British! Scotsmen can join the army too!
