Arsenal Save #1 - Destroying the Process

1637220957139.png

Start of the season, there was a predictable apprehension about the appointment of Rey Quraishi.

As a highly regarded mental performance coach, it was an astounding appointment to replace Arteta.

However, with an understanding of tactical strategy and communication, there was never a doubt in his ideas, but more around his experience of handling pressure under the lights.

But the coaching structure has been very smart, Steve Round handles the media and Rey handles the team.

With Round leaving and being replaced by Thierry Henry as Assistant Manager, we expect that dynamic to continue.

To the actual season, what Arsenal have done this season is nigh on miraculous. With an expected finish of sixth, Rey led the team to their first title in almost 20 years.

The back to back wins vs LIV & MCI made us start to really think that the gunners could win the title. Couple that with the magnificent form of summer signings Odegaard and Osak, Arsenal have turned into a fabulous side.

With the UCL back on the schedule, I feel the gunners will need to strengthen to compete on multiple fronts.

But under Rey, I feel this could be the start of a real revolution of sustained success.

Congratulations to Arsenal!

Massive signing for the long-term.

Gavi joined a little late due to him being 17 when I originally purchased him. The idea is to have him initially as cover for Odegaard before eventually taking the position of Partey as BBM.

At £49m its an extremely steep cost, but one that will work out in the long-term.

Scintillating start to the season so far. The team are gelling so well and extremely fluid in pressing and possession play. I am excited for what this season could bring.

14 PL games unbeaten and great momentum at the moment.

Back in the UCL and what a group...

Gavi need to start stepping up with some returns, he is excellent at ball retention but we need some output.

Winter Break meant a lack of fixtures. The congestion is about to get insane now, fortunately all the players are fit.

Arsenal sign the Egyptian king!!

English champions Arsenal have signed the talismanic winger from Liverpool. With 6 months remaining on his contract, arsenal agreed a fee of £26m for Salah on a two year contract. The Egyptian is currently the leagues top scorer and will be earning 275k per week. This is a serious statement of intent from the gunners and at just 30 years old, we can expect a few more years of elite performances from Mo. Salah is expected to make his home debut vs Brighton next weekend.

Press conference is scheduled for later this week.

Rey, what does this signing mean to Arsenal?

It means that we can compete for the elite players, and we’re delighted to have Mohamed whilst he is still performing at the highest level.

He had 6 months left, was there a temptation to sign a pre-contract?

We wanted to get ahead whilst we’re still in the season. Thus, we wanted to get Salah integrated as soon as possible to contribute to the season.

26m is a steal right?

With the kind of money being thrown around, we spent 25% of his true value in all honesty. We can certainly enjoy 3-4 years of the elite level from Mohamed.

We are seriously cooking on gas now, scoring goals for fun and playing outstanding football.

Salah has also taken to our system very well with some solid performances.

Much more to come from the Egyptian - he is already striking up a superb understanding with Isak.

This is pretty much the preferred line-up whilst Saka is still recovering from a long term injury.

Mixed bag of results and a disappointing FA Cup defeat, however into the Quarters of the UCL

1637535521064.png

We play Inter again, confident we can get through that.

1637535564486.png

Liverpool are very difficult to catch despite our best efforts - just need to capitalise should they drop points.

1637535648709.png

Main protagonists still performing very well and Isak is the best striker in the game in my opinion.

1637599250627.png

We retain the title after Liverpool draw their last 2 games. Absolutely fantastic feat as we were 4 points behind going into the last 5 games.

1637599422286.png

The performances of Isak and Odegaard were next level and Ramsdale is proving to be one of the best GK in Europe.

1637599488113.png

Scoring the most and conceding the least, we are such a force of nature and not much can be improved.

13 of those PL goals for Salah were for us, and he has excelled us to new heights.

Rey, the chance for history here, what will your approach be?

Like any game to be honest. We will approach with full preparation, focus and belief in our system and the way we want to be expressive on the pitch.

Any injury doubts at all?

Apart from Saliba, all the players are fit a raring to go

What would a victory mean to the club?

Of course this would be the culmination of all the years of hard work that this club have committed. But more importantly than that, this is what the fans deserve. Through thick and thin, they have always been there to support and we will put every drop of sweat to bring this trophy home!

Arsenal Manager Rey Quraishi releases statement on his future following rumours of Barcelona, Juventus and Bayern declaring their interest

1637602787903.png

Firstly, I wanted to thanks all of you, our loyal fans for the love and patience you have given me during these incredible 2 years. From the moment I walked in as the Manager from being a mental coach, I have been given the time to implement my tactics and structure to push us forward.

However, what we have managed in such a short time is miraculous. This has been topped off by our maiden UCL victory against PSG in what was the most emotional event I can remember.

As a lifelong gunner, this moment was as special to me as anyone. Ian Wright is my childhood hero as an Arsenal player and to get a congratulatory call from him is still as surreal as ever.

There have been rumours about my future, but I can confirm that I am as passionate as ever to continue our successes.

Therefore, I will stay at the club as long as I am needed.

Give the man what ever he wants.

As Rey announces his intention to stay on as Arsenal manager, this should not be a moment where the board relax on his verbal commitment.

They should look at the next wave of investment that will quench Quraishi's thirst for success. As I have said many times, Rey is a miracle worker. He took a team so far off the pace in previous years to winning back-to-back league titles and achieving immortality by winning Arsenal's first ever UCL.

He has united the fans (similarly to Klopp at Liverpool) and created an environment of harmony and togetherness at the club. It has been almost 20 years since Arsenal have felt this strong in all their foundations, which have rippled to results on the pitch.

I spoke to Rey a month ago and asked him; What are his core values? He answered with "Love & Respect" - this is apparent from the fans, board, club, staff and players. At only 38 years old, Rey could dominate football management if he wanted.

As an Arsenal fan for 30 years, Rey shared that the player that got him into football was Ian Wright. He shared how his passion for goals and 'leaving everything' on the pitch inspired Rey to get into football.

Dennis Bergkamp is Rey's favourite ever player as his grace and intelligence matched that of his own - this seems to be represented on the pitch with the verve and creativity that his team play with.

The only real question is for how long will he do it at Arsenal. Juventus, Bayern and Barcelona all openly declared their interests. There is only so long that Rey can close that door until he wants pastures new.

Arsenal, enjoy every minute of Mr Quraishi. Cherish, love and respect him, as will he to yourselves. Give the man everything he needs, as this may be the start of his revolution.

He will succeed anywhere he goes, just at the moment it is with his beloved Arsenal.
