Coppa Italia Final
Juventus 2 (Osvaldo 34, Pogba 68)
Atalanta 3 (Estigarribia 50, 72, Bonaventura 58)

WE WIN THE CUP!!!!!!!!

This was certainly a game of 2 halves. We were shocking in the 1st half and should have been 3 or 4 down but we went in at half-time just one behind and after I gave my players a bollocking we turned things round.

Now can we do it again in the league???

--

Atalanta 3 (Denis 43, Martinez 48, Brivio 59)
Juventus 0

******* GET IN THERE!!!!!!!!

The first half was even and then came the turning point when Tevez had a goal disallowed. We managed to sneak ahead and then got an early goal in the 2nd half to give us a cushion. Brivio struck from long range to all but seal it and we managed to hold on despite having Canini sent-off.

--
THE FINAL DAY
5min - Juventus 1-0 Catania (Pogba)
20min - Inter 1-0 Atalanta (Icardi)
24min - Inter 2-0 Atalanta (Icardi)
32min - Inter 2-1 Atalanta (Denis)
37min - Inter 2-2 Atalanta (Denis)

HT - Atalanta top of the table on goal difference

48min - CIGARINI SENT-OFF FOR ATALANTA
53min - Inter 3-2 Atalanta (Alvarez)
55min - Inter 4-2 Atalanta (Alvarez)
63min - Juventus 2-0 Catania (Llorente)
69min - Inter 4-3 Atalanta (Denis)
76min - Inter 4-4 Atalanta (Rolando own goal)
90min - Inter 4-5 Atalanta (Bonaventura)

FT - Atalanta win the league by 2pts!!!!!

--

I CANT EXPLAIN WHAT JUST HAPPENED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Inter 4 (Icardi 20, 24, Alvarez 53, 55)
Atalanta 5 (Denis 32, 37, 69, Rolando og76, Bonaventura 90)

SUMMARY

This was the dream month. I will have to go some to top it. We had 3 extremely tough games and came out on top in all 3 despite having numerous set backs be it players sent-off or coming from behind to win.

In the cup final we were poor in the first half but rallied in the 2nd. We got a bit of luck against Juve in the league and then hammered home our advantage with a great win.

And as for the last day of the season - I honestly cant believe what happened!!!!

Getting asked for this quite a lot so here it is!!!!!!!!!!!

I should add that I play the players to their preferred role. So I would quite happily play a poacher up front or 2 deep lying playmakers in midfield.

Thanks mate! Sorry If I'm being annoying, it's just that coming first with Atalanta is crazy!

Not at all!!!!!!!!

Thanks for following (as usual)

I get so many PMs about my tactic - that is what I was referring too

Stunning effort..what's the plan for pre-season, bring in some big guns to attack the Champions League? What's your financial situation like, do you get a lot of money for winning Seria A? Keep up the good work.

Cheers
Pete

Great story, love the skin also!! I am considering starting up a save, know how to get photos as a thumbnail, but want them to be in the centre of the page like yours, any tips on how to do this? Would benefit me greatly! Cheers

That is quite unbelievable! you make this game look so easy :P

You dont get too much money - I am currently ?4.5m in the red unfortunately

What I do is go to google images or the official club website and copy the image and just insert it on the post. I type everything as I go and have everything centralised so the picture just drops in alongside!

END OF SEASON

What a first season!!!! Previously when I have had such immediate and unrealistic success I have found the save boring or not enjoyable but this one has been thoroughly enjoyable.

In the cup we had a fairly easy time up to the final. The draws were kind with only a tie against Fiorentina being tough. In the final against Juventus we fell behind but battled back to win the Coppa Italia for the 2nd time in the clubs history.

As for the league, well that was just incredible!!! We had some hiccups and in truth took advantage of other teams under-achieving but for a club of our size and stature to win the title, especially in my 1st season in charge, was incredible.

Not as incredible as the final match of the season however!!!! That was just crazy. We lost it, had it back again, threw it away and somehow managed to come back and win!!

Here are some picks and info of the season..........

It becomes apparent that our ability to score more goals than everyone else was the difference. Over 20 more than the next team.

PLANS FOR NEXT SEASON

There will be much changes methinks. My players on loan will go back so that immediately means that the influential Estigarribia will no longer be with us. Other players on loan are Ezekiel and Benalouane.

On the opposite side of that I will be getting some players back such as Marilungo, Capelli and Minotti.

A lot depends on what size of budget I will get. Obviously we need to strengthen and I will need to bring in one or two quality players to step into the first team. Some backup players may be let go while in the first XI Denis is not getting any younger while Carmona wasnt overly impressive during the season.

Who knows what will happen lol

PRE-SEASON

I have been a busy boy!!!! Game time is just before the kick-off of the Super Cup and at the moment I have signed several players and let go even more!!!

The burning question going into the summer was how much I was going to get to spend and the answer was ?33m - which was a pleasant surprise.

So this is how I have spent some of it.............

--

PLAYERS IN

My biggest fee spent was ?9.75m paid to Southampton for Sebastian Giovinco. To be honest I dont know if he will replace Denis up front or battle it out with others for an attacking midfield slot.
View attachment 403599

Next up is Eder Alvarez Balanta. I paid River Plate ?8.5m to get the Colombian centre half in and he, alongside Capuano will hopefully be my central defenders for the next 5 or 6 years.
View attachment 403592
View attachment 403592
(SCREENIE WONT WORK)

I then paid Catania ?5m for another CB in the shape and form of Giuseppe Bellusci. He will act as cover for the other 2 centre halves.
View attachment 403589

I brought in two cracking players in on loan. Marco Verratti came in from Paris Saint-Germain and Adnan Januzaj came in from Manchester United. Both will be first picks and hopefully will shine for us.
View attachment 403582View attachment 403581

Finally I paid ?775,000 for young Austrian midfielder Valentino Lazara and I got in a young regen striker on a free transfer.
View attachment 403576View attachment 403573

--
PLAYERS OUT

Quite a lot!!! Obviously Estigarribia (sadly), Benalouane and Ezekiel went back to their parent clubs and I released over 20 players from the reserves and youth teams.

I received ?4.5m for Maxi Moralez from Sampdoria and ?4.3m from Levante for Carlos Carmona. Pescara signed Giorgi and Cazzola for a total of ?4.9m. Minotti, Ardemagni, Boyata, Sportiello and De Luca left for various clubs for a total of ?3.3m.

I also loaned out a few players and sold 50% of some players also.

--

SUMMARY

I think my team is looking quite solid now. Maybe I need a top notch striker or another central midfielder but we shall see if I can bring anyone in. I have ?15m left to spend.

This could be my possible XI but I am not 100% sure.......

Consigli

Brivio - Capuano - Alvarez Balanta - Nica

Verratti - Cigarini

Januzaj (LW) - Giovinco - Bonaventura (RW)

Denis

Maybe Martinez will come into AMC and Giovinco will move up front. If Murru continues to develop then the full backs will be under increased pressure. Who knows what will happen!!!

AUGUST

Supercoppa Italiana
Atalanta 1 (Bonaventura 44)
Juventus 0

Our last 4 competitive games have produced 3 trophies!!! Bonaventura must hate Juve - he scored in the cup final against them, scored a last minute winner for us to win the title ahead of Juve and now the winner here.

--
Atalanta 2 (Denis 48, Januzaj 54)
Sampdoria 0

We start our defense of our Serie A title by winning here. We were average in the first half but performed much better in the 2nd half.

--

Catania 1 (Lodi 82)
Atalanta 2 (Januzaj 9, Bonaventura 54)

This was actually more comfortable than it looks. Januzaj also had a goal disallowed in the first half.

SUMMARY

We kicked off this season pretty well by winning the opening 3 games and collecting the Super Cup. My new central defensive pairing looks pretty solid and both performed well during the month.

In the Champions League we have been given a decent group and will play BATE Borisov, CSKA Moscow and Bayern Munich (who have won it the last twice).

I did manage to make two more signings on deadline day. Firstly my director of football set up the deal to sign South Korean midfielder Koo Ja-Cheol from Mainz for a bargain ?1.7m. He is valued at ?10m but I paid his release clause and he will also help in merchandising sales - a great steal!!!!
View attachment 403483

Then I went out and bought myself a striker. Michy Batshuayi was brought in from Standard Liege after I triggered his release clause of ?6.75m. If he performs well he may just take Denis' place in the team but we shall have to wait and see.

Leaving the club was several players on loan with the most noteworthy player being Carlos Diogo.

SEPTEMBER

Atalanta 4 (Batshuayi 14, Januzaj 28, Giovinco 46, 67)
Livorno 0

We were magnificent here and should have scored more. Bonaventura missed a first half penalty.

--

UEFA Champions League Group F

Atalanta 1 (Batshuayi 6)
Bayern Munich 2 (Muller 37, Lewandowski 55)

No shame in defeat here! We performed admirably and probably deserved a draw but it wasnt to be.

--

Palermo 1 (Garcia 88)
Atalanta 3 (Januzaj 8, Batshuayi 10, Bonaventura 28)

We were ruthless here and deserved the win. My attacking 4 players were superb - each one scored except Giovinco's effort was disallowed.

--

Atalanta 1 (Batshuayi 13)
Roma 1 (Florenzi 83)

We started off well enough here but caved in eventually as Roma threw everything at us to save a point.

--

Inter Milan 0
Atalanta 0

A no score draw!!!! Not many of them involving us.

--

UEFA Champions League Group F

BATE Borisov 3 (Syrokvashenko 38, 45, Kreydich 84)
Atalanta 4 (Denis 45pen, Januzaj 55, Martinez 59, Marilungo 90)

What a game this was!!! They missed an early penalty before going in front. We levelled but immediately conceded again and then went 3-2 up in the 2nd half. They had a man sent-off and managed to muster an equaliser but Marilungo struck in injury time to win it.

SUMMARY

This month was hectic as we squeezed in 6 games. We are still unbeaten in the league and lie in 2nd place behind Napoli while in Europe we performed admirably against Bayern in defeat and my backups rallied to beat BATE Borisov.

Michy Batshuayi has been a revelation in his first month with us. He scored in every game apart from one and set up a few goals too!

Torino 0

--

Cagliari 3 (Pinilla 22, 68, Ibarbo 82)
Atalanta 2 (Verratti 45, Giovinco 81)

We were terrible here and didnt deserve to get anything from the match. A bad day at the office.

UEFA Champions League Group F

CSKA Moscow 0
Atalanta 1 (Martinez 29)

This was pretty much the perfect away performance. We took the lead and was solid at the back while maintining an attacking prowess. I rested a couple of players here too.

--

Atalanta 2 (Capuano 26, Bonaventura 40pen)
Verona 1 (Sperdutti 27)

This should have been a lot more comfortable than it was. We should have scored 5 or 6 such was our domination.

--

Modena 0
Atalanta 5 (Batshauyi 39, 54, 66pen, Martinez 78, 81)

Believe it or not but this was actually a close game regarding shots on goal and posession etc but we were ruthless in front of goal and took almost all our chances.

SUMMARY

This month was quite strange as we won all our games bar one and had some good performances but I still feel we can step up a gear. Batshuayi and Januzaj didnt have the best of months but Giovinco was inspiring both scoring and assisting.

We end the month top of the table but I think this year wont be a 2 horse race last like time as Napoli, Juve and the 2 Milan sides have started strongly.

NOVEMBER

Parma 1 (Pozzi 37)

Atalanta 2 (Batshuayi 9, Januzaj 14)

A nice win this as our 2 early goals proved to be enough for the points.

--

UEFA Champions League Group F
Atalanta 5 (Denis 7, 57, 73, Marilungo 35, Vasin og82)
CSKA Moscow 1 (Musa 15)

A fantastic win if slightly undeserved as we somehow managed to score 5 goals but only had 4 shots on target! This result secures qualification for the knockout round.

--

Atalanta 3 (Capuano 17, Alvarez Balanta 28, Nica 29)
Udinese 1 (Ighalo 81)

3 defenders scoring goals = crazy times lol. Once again we get which looks like a convincing result in what was actually a really close game.

Bologna 3 (Missiroli 28, 63, 84)
Atalanta 1 (Januzaj 56)

Pathetic. Cant even use Verratti's sending off as an excuse as we were behind at the time.

UEFA Champions League Group F

Bayern Munich 5 (Shaqiri 4, Lewandowski 20, 29, Schweinsteiger 56, Muller 90)
Atalanta 0

My backups against the double European Champions was never going to be pretty and so it proved. They could have quite easily got double figures.

Atalanta 4 (Giovinco 10, Bonaventura 21pen, 52, Batshuayi 46)
Napoli 2 (Behrami 62, Higuain 82)

I always like to get one over on Benitez and I did it again here in this top of the table clash.

SUMMARY

This month certainly had its highs and lows but I suppose in the end it was a decent month as we sit top of the table and qualified for the next stages in Europe.

Our performances though havent been to the standard that I expect however and sometimes we got very lucky and the final scoreline maybe papers over the cracks a bit.

I managed to arrange a signing to come in January also and he will be revealed in that update.
