Attack! Attack! 4-1-1-2-2 By OoScotsmanoO (211 goals in 62 games most Clean sheets)

Posted 2 times so far on my story, just finished my first season with Arsenal and I managed to do the double! I won the EPL and the EUFA Champs League. First off I just want to start this off my saying I would have never won either the league or the champs league without Edison Cavani. His performance this year was absolutely insane. Check out his goals/game ratio in this screenshot after all games played.(Used him in the advanced forward role)

Secondly there are a few games specifically I would like to point out that really defined my season. First off I drew Barca in the Quarter Finals of Champs League Knockout stage and when I saw that I knew I had a good chance because of the form I was in and because Real won the league with ease, 87 points to Barca's 70(2nd place) so I knew they were somewhat struggling or not on top of their usual form. I beat them home at the Emirates first leg 6-1, and they won the second game 4-1 but I progressed and my prize was Man U in the Semis. Now the entire season was down to MAN U and I. We were always within 3 points of each other swapping in and out of 1st and 2nd, while the third place Tott finished 15+ points behind. I got spanked at Old T first leg 4-1, rooney just blitzed me with 3 and was doing work all over the pitch. Then I played them second to last game of the season(epl match) to lose 2-1 Home, which gave them a 1 point advantage going into the LAST GAME of the EPL. I had Villa home and won comfortably thanks to Cavani+RVP 4-0, and luckily Liverpool won at anfield and beat United 1-0 to give me the title. After the villa game I had United second leg at the emirates, CRACKING MATCH. One of the most exciting matches I have ever had in a football manager game, we ended up winning the match 6-1, won the legs and beat shaktar in the final 4-0. Shaktar had sold Willian earlier in the year and managed to make it to the finals, good for them. So overall I had a great first season.

Question now is: I noticed towards the end of the season my results were far less consistent, but still managed to grind out some results. For my second season do you recommend switching any roles/positions up so the computer can't read my tactics as easy? Thanks!

Tactics worked great for me. Good results with Truro in BSP ! I will use it as one of my three tactics in the season!

I think it's the AI "getting used" to know how to counter your tactic after prolonged usage. I suppose the AI scouts will find it easier to report your tactical preference to their club if you keep on using a SINGLE tactic in EVERY match, which I think is completely realistic and reasonable IMO.

However, if you insist on not tweaking/changing tactic towards the end of the season, for me, I've tried just to rely on more aggressive team-talks or team meeting for motivation and morale boost (since you know their performance is "declining" gradually) and I find that the tactic still works well.

Sorry if I got it wrong but I do find FM2012 assistant managers will never give you the BEST effect no matter how good their stats. Maybe it's just me, but this is Football Manager, not Football Assistant Manager, I prefer to show my assistant manager how to do things right than the other way round. Cheers! ^^

Firstly, great tactic.

Secondly, im playing a network game with a friend. Both using this tactic, he's City and I'm Utd! What is the best way to defend this tactic? Especially from corners!?

Ill give this a whirl with my Huddersfield team, in my 3rd season as seriously struggling to win games, ill post screenshots if you like? also any players your would reccomend for the STL position?

Hi all I have been away since friday in glasgow to see my team Killie play in the semi final. So i havnt been on since. Will get through any questions later tonight. I have had a quick read through and the most common ones are.

Inconsistant come end of the season.

Answer - All tactics are, Irl managers dont stick to 1 tactic because teams learn and counter it. So change it up a bit. Drop player back more players up. whatever suits your stype of play. This tactic is just a shell. im sure you could change many things in it to suit your Play :)

Will put more detail to this later Going off again for a few hours.

thanks for all the feedback guys :) really thankful for all the support

Do you think its possible to move one of the midfielders up to an AMC spot and if so who? the DMC or the CM?

Been trying this out with Bayern. Started a new game and at first it didn't seem like much, average results, lost 2 games quite badly to Dortmund and Leverkusen, both with at least 2 goals. However as time went on and team had practiced the formation to nearly perfection things changed drastically to the better. I trashed Manchester City 5-0 on their home field in Champion's Leage group stage and did the same 5-0 scare to Valencia on my home field. Now i have been winning all the games pretty easily with scores like 2-0, 3-0, 5-0 and occasionally opponents manage to sneak one by my defense line and into the net.

Other thing i must say is that left side corners are THE BOMB. I've had nearly 100% success with corners from left side, whoever goes to give that corner always aims at Olic who then moves forward and usually kicks it in with his head, and sometimes when that fails with his foot. I'd say 65-75% of the left side corners have resulted in goal so far, probably more than less.

Possession is good too, usually around 60%, in my 5-0 Valencia game it was 75% :O

I'll keep trying and see how it works out against some other big bad teams such as Barcelona, R.Madrid, Man.U etc.

Edit: Now i have played some more and have to admit that in the middle of the season things have gotten completely out of hand again. I lost 4-0 to Hannover and got knocked out of German Cup competition by some random second league team after failing to beat them in normal and extra time and then losing penalties because 3 of my guys missed.

Guess whos back. lol

Sorry for being away soo long, been a horrible year so far with things to do.. internet has been awful for weeks now..

But im back.

Wasn't going that good, dunno what to do? If I were you I wouldn't be looking forward to the final, we both know what happened the last time you got there ;)

Hi, Have you managed to update this tactic, letting in loads of goals.

I havnt no. ive been pre ocupied with other stuff.
Hopfully looking to get a network game going with a mate so i can do some stats on the OP

the tactic does leak. mainly because of the overload attack but once i have the time i do aim to get a more defencive version up and running

its still 1 of my first tactics so i wasnt even expecting it to get any responces. so far its shocked me.

Gonna try this with ma United im playing first season with them from Transfer window.. Will let ya know how it goes

Just to try out with an injury ridden but good Tottenham team, with Vagner Love AF and Jermaine Defoe P, Don't know, do you think Adebayor or Kuyt is better?

I will try this tactic with Getafe. Is it important that the left sided striker is an advanced forward or can he also be a trequartista? I have Guiza and Miku who is my poacher, but Guiza plays best as trequartista
