Its not been a very busy start to the season this year with no Super Cup competitions which may well help us in the league as we win 5 out of 6 only dropping points to Malaga whilst we had impressive results against both the Madrid clubs and smashed 4 past Inter in the Champions League

So we didnt have that good of a time in the Nations League as we drew back to back games against Italy and then Poland before a narrow 1-0 win against Costa Rica in a friendly.
We then lost to Italy in the Nations League before two 3-1 wins against Slovenia and Poland one a friendly and the other a Nations league match.

So we came second in our group but im just glad we didnt get relegated.

So we had a good time in the Champions League beating Sporting in Portugal before back to back wins against Dinamo secured our place in the Knockout stages with 2 games to spare before losing to Inter at the end of the month.
In the league we won just 4 out of 7 league games with a mini winless run in the middle losing back to back games against Alcoron and Espanyol before a bore draw against Granada.

First off we won our last group game of the Champions League beating Sporting 3-0 with Miravent netting a brace to secure our place a the top of the table

So we draw Man Utd in the Champions League Knockout stages who have recently got a new manager in the form of Ancelotti who was their for a year after LVG left, he takes over from Joachim Low who just retired after winning 13 competitions with Utd in 7 years.

So along with the Champions League game win we beat lowly Cadiz over two legs with our reserve side beating them comfortably in the 1st leg wit Romero netting a hattrick but struggling to break them down in the 2nd leg in a 1-1 draw.
The league was a bit hit and miss going from beating Sevilla 3-0 and Cordoba 6-0 to getting thumped by Getafe 4-0 we then ended the month better with another 3-0 win in the league and Neymar grabbing his second hattrick in Dec.

2 points clear at the top of the table at the turn of the Year but theirs only 4 points from us to 4th place so one poor result which we have definitely got in us could change everything.

Just read this from the start and its been a great read. Would love to see Valencia's finances as every transfer window they seem to be top spenders.
Read an article earlier about the La Masia Academy. On 25th Nov 2012 Montoya came on as sub for Dani Aves and every Barca player on the pitch had graduated from the Academy. Its a good read, ive linked it below

I think their own success could be their downfall in using homegrown players, as they have no time to build a youthful team up again like they did previously, everyone now expects them to win everything all of the time so they have to spend big to keep up with everyone else.

Spanish Cup

So in the 5th rnd we comfortably beat Malaga 6-2 on aggregate before facing At Madrid in the Quarter Finals. We edged a 1-0 win in the 1st leg with Messi grabbing a late goal before a back and forth match ended 4-4 on the night and we went through to the Semis.
We had a pretty easy time of it in the Semi Finals beating R.Sociedad 2-0 and 3-1 including Miravent netting a hattrick to set up our first Spanish Cup Final in 3 years where we will face Valencia

So along with our Spanish Cup exploits we lost 3-1 to Man Utd in England in the 1st leg of our Champions League 1st Knockout rnd game.
In the league we won just 6 games out of 9 as we drew with Elche but more importantly lost to At Madrid and in a huge shock to Celta too the only shining light being Miravents recent goalscoring exploits.

So after that poor month it looks like Valencia are going to win their first league title in more than 20 years currently 3 points ahead of us and with a game in hand.

So first off in the Champions League we smashed Man Utd 6-3 to secure a place in the Quarter Finals with Romero netting a hattrick. In the Quarter Finals we faced Fenerbache comfortably beating them 4-0 at our place before a narrow 2-1 win in Turkey to set up a big Semi Final clash against AC Milan.
7 wins from 9 in the league but their was a little poor spell in April as we got destroyed 4-0 by Sevilla and then took part in an highscoring draw with Cordoba.

So everything is all equal with Real Madrid at the moment with 3 games to go but were currently top do to our better goal difference and the league is in our hands with 3 very winnable games against Athletic Bilbao, Zaragoza and Mallorca.

So our European dreams are over for another season as AC Milan beat us 1-0 at our place in the 1st leg of the Champions League Semi Final before coming from 2-0 down in Italy to draw 2-2 on the night and go through to the Finals 3-2 on aggregate.

A comfortable performance in the Final as we dominate from the get go and we win 3-0 whilst they have a player sent off and we finally get back a trophy that hasnt been ours for 3 Years.

So Real Madrid pushed us all the way and i think this is the first time i have won any league on goal difference as we had a +7 goal difference to them.

So the main aims now are to take over Sir Alex in the Continental Hall of Fame so im number 1 in all 4 of them and to get as high as i can on the FM Leaderboards currently 4646!

Great to see your youth players making a name for themselves in 1st team, even pushing Messi onto the bench (in Best Eleven)! Hopefully you can continue to dominate with plenty of other youngsters coming through. Really enjoying the story, KIU!
