I'm so looking forward to this game.. although I'm worried about the jets.. whether or not they'll become an asset to teamplay or if it just ends up in endless dogfights and people getting in line and teamkilling just to fly one of 'm..

I am indeed looking forward to Friday, my pre-order better come :(

I was **** in aircraft on BC, never used to use them, will have to practice or just go Infantry all the time.

I could fly planes on BF 1942 but failed horribly on BF2

I don't know about this game now. I didn't play the beta, but I watched a fair bit of gameplay footage and thought is was meh. What annoys me the most is you have to install EA's stupid Origin software. I may end up getting it, but I'm not looking forward to it as much since all this happened. IMO EA taking it off Steam and it requiring Origin will hurt its sales badly. I will probably need a new computer first anyway since mine is about 3 and half years old now...

Thought I'd just make a few comments:

1. The spawn system is an issue for me, I mean fair enough if you get killed straight away when spawning on another squad member, but that shouldn't be possible when spawning on an objective, like in Conquest. If there is an enemy on/right near the flag you shouldn't be able to spawn there.
2. The hit detection is still a little iffy, that might be due to the ridiculous lag I've been suffering this afternoon though.
3. There just isn't enough maps, and there most certainly isn't enough game modes to make up for the lack of maps. They may be big, and I do enjoy them, but there's just not enough (PS. This is with the Limited Edition version of the game also).
4. The 'shooting from the head' problem is bigger than in any other game, it's so ridiculous when somebody is behind cover, I can only see their dome and yet they can shoot and kill me.
5. I know it's part of the BF experience, so this isn't so much a problem, but tanks make me want to snap the disk at times. Maybe there could be a lobby where no vehicles are present that is separate from regular?

Despite these annoyances, I've found the game incredibly fun and have racked up around 6 hours of play time so far, but it most definitely isn't going to be a game I can spend more than 10 days on like CoD because, quite frankly, it doesn't have as many match combinations.

What about the single player?

What about the single player?

Well currently I've only done one level on the single player, it does seem quite interesting already but I rage quit due to dying at the same spot numerous times. Will play it some more soon enough and let you know how much I enjoy it, how much it grabs me etc.

played some single player, story isn't what I thought it would be but it is fun playing it :) will try some multiplayer later

Played a few singleplayer levels and thought it was quite mediocre, played quite a few multiplayer games and it is really enjoyable.

The thing that impresses me most is probably the sound quality, sounds so good.

Bought a disc version but it wouldn't do anything when I put it in the drive so I had to download 11GBs worth of files from origin! 11! Took so long

Mine did the same :O Although it turned out that my dvd drive wasn't plugged in properly...

So, people playing on PC. What are your battlelog names so I can add you?

My dvd drive sometimes has issues with certain discs :S it's annoying. Battlelog name is Buyaboat

Enjoying it so far.
On the first sniper, takes a good 3/4 shots to kill someone, hoping that goes as I progress up the ranks.
Fantastic sound on the game.
Servers are a bit weak for me, but it's only just out, expected.

More evidence has surfaced that suggests Battlefield 3 will, at some point, be sold on Steam.Code within the game's PunkBuster anti-cheat installation files refers specifically to a Steam game directory.
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3\
  • C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\battlefield 3\
  • C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\battlefield 3\
  • C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Battlefield 3\
But this could be old, non-removed code. The other piece of evidence comes from graphics card maker Sapphire. A competition on the Sapphire Select Club website purports to be giving away PC game codes for Battlefield 3 on Steam.
  • One (1) PC Game code for Battlefield 3, redeemable for the game on Steam (Welcome to Steam) with a Suggested Retail Price of $USD 59.99
A mix-up? We're checking with EA.Battlefield 3 notably wasn't sold on Steam - EA took the opportunity to shine the headlights on its own digital distribution platform Origin.

PC Battlefield 3 on Steam evidence arises

You need to put the hours in before you unlock the serious sniping equipment. Its hard to kill with one shot but possible with a head shot. Don't forget bullets curve too the further away you are so sniping on the whole is a challenge.
