I don't see it as too much of a blow for England tbh. He's got the dead balls, but that's really about it, and of course experience. Ashley Young can deliver a great ball into the box, and can take a great free kick. Plus he's got great pace and can play on both flanks. Just free's up his space for another talented English right winger. Mfaje, there could be worse stuff... Rooney could get injured/not go to the World Cup.

Ashley Young are you serious!

he wont get near the world cup.

being in the midlands, i hear a lot of villa opinions. and they all cant believe how bad he has been this season

not half the player he was last season.

so why would we take an unproven, out of form winger to the world cup? :s

It's not just about his delivery tbh, it's also about his experience, nobody else in the squad holds the amount of experience he has in the world cup, and his experience could of came in handy in must win games.

very very true!
his presence and influential nature and massive massive experience plays a big part!

he even changed the dimension of a shocking milan side when he came on :/
that shows the calibre of the bloke!

gutted. the one player of genuine class in the squad, will be sorely missed i think.
Gerrard? Rooney? Lampard? Terry? Rio? A. Cole?oO)

Looks official now.:( Looks like we'll have to rely on theo.:O ;)

Beckham would have been key for those tight last 15 minutes or extra time, just sitting in the middle dropping passes onto Crouch's head. no one else can do that.

He's the only winger England have that comes close to Beckham's delivery.
He hasn't been that bad this season, just been overshadowed by Lennon's immaculate performances and Beckham's attempts to get into the squad,

This is truly awful. He may not be as good as he was, but he is still excellent, and when he is on the pitch, he changes the game, the boost the other players get from playing alongside him is extraordinary!

Problem with having a fast winger is that the full backs chosen for most national sides aren't usually slow, I'm talking about the top teams in it, e.g Italy, Holland, Spain, Germany blah blah, so it's harder to exploit teams with pace which is why Beckham could of been important.

ive had a similar injury and he will miss the world cup. he could have done yous a good job in the world cup

none have the sheer quality of Beckham. All good, but typical English players. he's our only "Continental" style player.

ahh this is a blow.

lennon hasn't played since about November

"he's not been that bad", what are you basing that on? match of the day lol!

im talking about villa fans that go to every game of the season. i think they might have a better reflection of his form than the media and match of the day.

he has been nothing compared to what he has been and very wasteful from dead balls and crossing positions.
although i don't like villa opinions :P i think they may know their own players

good point! i didn't think about it like that.

I remember when Beckham had that broken metertasal (spelling) before the 2002 world cup. Very unlucky and unfortuante for him this time as he recovered in time from that injury.

im absolutely gutted for becks im a big fan of him and he would have been a massive player for england its a massive shame.

Seems to me you're just looking for an argument. I gave my opinion, deal with it!

an opinion that is based on hardly anything :/ but ye your entitled to it

if you would like to listen to those who know more than you clearly! from living in the area where he plays.
having loads of mates that are villains, listening to local radio phone ins with the villa moaning about how **** he is this season!!!
i just thought i may enlighten you on his actual form, and what his own fans think which is clearly gonna be more accurate.

but ye it don't matter :P, he wont be going the world cup thats for sure!

Beckham is like the 4th-5th best right midfielder in England at best. I don't think he would have went anyway so I don't see it as an issue. Not nice to tear a tendon, a nasty injury, but I don't think Fabio would have picked him if he was fit anyway

Also leaves space for Craig Gardner...

On a serious note, this is a severe blow to our chances. I still have no problem in saying Beckham among the best if not the best player from dead ball situations, he should be in the squad just for that. So on that note this is a real dent into our hopes :(
