Best Band of all Time

Oh dear what a painful thread for me lol ... Im actually offended by a few peoples choices :p.

Best Bands to grace the planet are as follows.

The Beatles : for obvious reasons.

The Rolling Stones : Mick Jagger Keith Richards ... Enough said me thinks.

Led Zepplin : John Bonham one of the best drummers to ever live. Propelled heavier rock music in the mainstream.

Black Sabboth : Metal baby Metal this is where is started along with the heavy rifts of Zepplin a genre is born props also to Alice Cooper.

Metallica : Thrash Metal gods imo the best band to have ever lied down a track true legends. Props to Megadeth.

Guns and Roses . Gods of Stadium Rock fecking awesome band again true legends.

Dream Threatre. The most techinal and skilled set of musicians you will ever see, If your into your Epic rock instrumentals check these guys out.

Agree with almost everything you said, aswell as being offended by peoples' choices. Just painful to read, some of them :D

Would add a few more pioneering acts, although "band" is more in the rock/metal category isn't it? Kraftwerk definitely deserves a mention, as do Radiohead, Pink Floyd, Nirvana and U2 (grudgingly).

Bah i hate Bono with a passion.

Il admit not heard of Kraftwerk :p il give them a listen. Nirvana altho very defining of an era i just think the fall short of the legendery bands. No daubting Cobain was an awesome lyricist and Grohl an extremely talented drummer.

Actually Nirvana could be seen as one of the ebst bands dependent on peoples tastes in music i.e a major grunge fan will think this. Plus some of the other bands mentioned in this thread make Nirvana look like gods of not just music but mankind its self.

Nirvana may just be just short in this discussion, but an honourable mention wouldn't be too much imo. And yeah, in comparison to Nickelback, they are ze special ones.

I'm just horrified because I glanced over and I think I saw Nickelback :(
 
All comes down to opinion, someones favorite band could be someone else s most hated, eg I hate the beetles they make me ashamed I'm from Liverpool, but I know many people declare them as the best band ever.
Anyway bands I believe are BEST ever at what they do are

Megadeth
Dark Tranquillity
Queensryche
Pantera
Anthrax

I could only narrow it down to 5
 
Madness & The Specials

Grew up listening to a lot Ska/Reggae

but there is some very good bands out there

The Eagles
R.E.M
Linkin Park
Deep Purple
The Prodigy
Public Enemy

plus many more :wub:
 
The Beatles obviously. They changed the whole face of music,and their song writing and artistic talent was 2nd to none.

Other Groups who are up there are, The Rolling Stones,Pink Floyd,The Kinks,The Stone Roses,Radiohead and Queen.

The Beatles basically invented modern music! Who else can it possibly be?
Perhaps this should be called favourite band, cos that's what people are choosing.

Kudos for mentioning Queen, totally forgot about them!
 
Blah Blah Blah the beatles didnt invent modern music, Cliff Richard was doing whatt he beatles did years before ... just not aswell. Don't get me wrong the Beatles are one of the best bands ever John Lennon was a god. But they did not create Rock and Roll there legends yes and the best of the type of music they did but if the beatles had never existed music would still be where it is today.
 
The Beatles where the first modern pop group. Everything before that was American Rock and Roll, Bill Haley,Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis.Elvis etc. The Beatles not only woke music up in Britain but on a world stage too,and many groups followed their influence including The Hollies,The Kinks,The Beach Boys and the Rolling Stones who Lennon & McCartney wrote some early material for.
