First Day In Training.
Today was my first day in training with the Boys. I was officially Coventry City's manager. I left my house at 7 planning to get to the Training ground at 8 to start training at 8:30. It was the boys second training session back from there holiday's so i wasn't expecting much. Just before i left i could hear my two sons running down the stairs shouting 'Can We Go Dad!?'. My wife thought it would be better than them sitting round the house all day, so i pretty much got made to take them..
When we got to the ground, there were press everywhere, trying to get pictures of the boys in training and asking me about how i feel. We ignored them so they soon went away.. When the boys go to the training ground i sat them in a room and i asked them 1 to 1, what they think the club should achieve this season and how they feel about fellow team-mates and staff. After we finished that, we all headed out to training.
When out there the sun was shining down on us, so i gave them a break every 15 minutes to stop dehydration. First of all we practised tactics. We tried out around 4 tactics and all of them proved very well. We them split up into 4 groups. Goalkeepers, Defence, Midfield & Strikers. I spent around an hour with each set of them before we head back inside to watch some DVD's i had prepared about there last game last season. We talked about what we could improve on, and what we did well. After watching the DVD i sent them all home to there families, but before they went i made sure that they knew every training session wouldn't be like this. I told them all that i was expecting a Play Off finish, anything lower and i wouldn't be a happy bunny.
When i got back to the house at around 7PM, My wife said that she had got a job in a local hairdressers. It was starting to become a good move for us. She then went on to ask what the kids did all day. Honestly, i didn't know. It turns out that the Groundsman aloud them to play football on the pitch. I was surprised, i expect they'll be coming everyday untill they have to go back to school.
All that night i spent on the computer looking at possible transfer targets, sent a few emails enquiring prices over players. The Chairman gave me 1.9M to spend in the summer, so i'll be looking for young, promising players and loan's. I phoned up the chairman to ask for a possible parent club so they could send us promising loan players for free and we would get payed every year for doing it. He was all for the idea and said he'd get searching for some possible ones in the morning. That is when i started to think that i really could become a great manager. This is no dream, if i do one thing wrong, i could be out of that job like that..
