Bolton Team News:
Bolton manager Owen Coyle may have deserted many of former boss Sam Allardyce's tenets, but he used a familiar 4-4-2 formation at the Bridge over Christmas, with Kevin Davies the battering ram and Johann Elmander the sniper. Davies is not the kind of player a youngster such as Jeffrey Bruma would choose to face when making his second start at this level.
Coyle has strengthened his own centre-back pool of Zat Knight and Gary Cahill by signing David Wheater from Middlesbrough. The Yorkshire-born defender scored an own goal in Chelsea's 5-0 thrashing of Boro at the Riverside in 2008.
It was midfielders Matthew Taylor and 19-year-old Rodrigo Moreno, with their elusive running, who caused the Blues' backline problems at the Bridge recently, and Petr Cech had to be on top form to keep them out.
Chelsea Team News:
The injury scares involving John Terry and Frank Lampard were another blow to manager Carlo Ancelotti in a season ravaged by them. It remains to be seen whether one, both or neither them figure at one of their favourite away grounds.
Lampard in particular has enjoyed himself against the Trotters, netting seven times in 11 matches.
Otherwise only Yossi Benayoun, Alex and Yuri Zhirkov remain on the sidelines.
Nicolas Anelka is returning to his old club where he scored 21 in 53 Premier League appearances. He has hit the target in his last two games.
