Malin takes temporary charge at Premier League giants!

liverpool_logo400_1__1.jpg

Officials at Liverpool have today confirmed the temporary appointment of long serving physio Josh Malin as manager.

They were keen to appoint quickly as Benitez left the Merseyside club to join Inter Milan. Liverpool owner Tom Hicks had this to say: "Money is short so there was definately not going to be a big name appointment and with the transfer market becoming more important in today's game I was keen to appoint as early into the window as possible. We've given him full responsibility, just as we would have treated a permanent manager, he's got around £6m to spend and if he impresses early on you never know what could happen".

Early reaction gives us the sense that fans are dissapointed with such a low key appointment, even if it is on a temporary basis.

Malin puts faith in free transfers!

Joe Cole - Free Transfer
Alexander Kolarov - £8m
Michael Ballack - Free Transfer
Marco Verratti - 700k
William Gallas - Free Transfer

Albert Riera was the only first team player to leave the club as he joined Newcastle United in a £6.5m.

Malin has today confirmed that he has made his last signing of the summer. In his second press conference whilst at The Reds he hinted he could be at the club for longer than expected. "I'm happy with the signings we've made, Gallas, Cole and Ballack will provide invaluable experience and undoubted quality. Kolarov will replace Aurelio and is one of today's hottest prospect.

Good Signings. Are You Trying To Sign Daniel Van Buyten From Bayern Munchen? When You Screenshot Your Transfers, He Was Typed In. If You Are Good Luck In Signing Him. I Reckon You'll Be The Next Jose Mourinho, But At Liverpool.

cheers guys, and I'm using StuW's 10.3.2 update. ^^)

I'll usually do updates in groups of 3, but as I had no access to the internet last night I could not update regularly so I'll update up to October now :) :)

Liverpool 1-0 Wigan

We played very well today, and were dominant through-out as you can see with the 20 shots. A well worked move saw Maxi Rodriguez finish cooly past the on-rushing Chris Kirkland to put as ahead on the stroke of half time. All in all a good start to the season.

Liverpool 1-1 Anorthosi (Europa League)

A Europa League qualifier which I had high hopes for. I was hoping to kick on from the win against Wigan but we never got going. It took an own goal to put it past their keeper' who was great on the day. Had to hope we were better in the second leg.

Liverpool 3-0 Newcastle United

A big game for us. Like I said before I wanted to push on and in this one we certainly did. Jovanovic got his first goal for the club when he pounced on a rebound from a Kolarov free-kick. 10 Minutes later Kolarov stepped up once again but this time he curled it round the wall to perfection clipping the post on it's way in. With the game coming to a close I brought on Jonjo Shelvey for his Liverpool debut and he certainly showed why he was at such a big club. He beat 2 men to get to the byline before cutting back to Jovanovic for him to firmly place under diving keeper' Steve Harper. A good result for us.

Liverpool 3-0 Anorthosi (Europa League)

Luckily we were on song today to push on and thrash Anorthosi 3-0. I was proud of the lads today as we had no Gerrard, Torres or Johnson in the squad. Maxi Rodriguez added another 2 to his tally for the season whilst Jovanovic cooly slotted home the penalty won by Carragher. Fair play to the boys, good result.

Liverpool 2-0 Blackburn

A good victory considering 4 reserve players started. Ayala, Shelvey, Itandje and Darby came in and all performed well. Shelvey opened the scoring just before half time. Maxi Rodriguez scored the goal of the month as he skinned 3 players before embarrassing Robinson with a delightful chip.

Liverpool 1-0 Wolves

This game saw our captain Steven Gerrard return, only from the bench but after a month out it was great to see him finishing from 30 yards to give us the win. Would have liked to win by more but a wins a win.

Liverpool 2-1 Birmingham

Our 'other' talisman returned today, Fernando Torres opened the scoring with a bullet header coming from a Kuyt cross. Gallas doubled the lead when a well worked corner found its way to the back post for him to poke in for his first Liverpool goal. The second half began and Birmingham started to apply the pressure and they got their reward after 88 minuted when 6foot8 striker Nicola Zigic scored yet again another great header. 6 Minutes were added on and hearts were in mouths for Liverpool fans as Lee Bowyer turned home from 4 yards, but it was disalowed for offside. It was a good win for us and keeps us unbeaten in the League.

Liverpool 5-2 Lokomotiv Moscow (Europa League)

It was great to see Torres getting back to form as he hit a hat-trick. He certainly made amends for an earlier error which put Liverpool behind. I want to go a long way in this competition so a great result for us all round.

Liverpool 2-1 Arsenal

A first game for us against one of the so called 'Big Four'. A lovely piece of individual work from Jovanovic set up the easiest of tap ins for Kuyt as he put us ahead. In around the 73rd minute Torres was there again to double the lead, relaxing the nerves until Bendnter popped up with a good finish as Fabregas sliced open the Liverpool defence. However we held out to secure a big win.

Liverpool 1-0 Arsenal (League Cup)

The second time in 3 days and we met Arsenal again. This time I opted to bring in a few fringe players and it payed off once again. In the 44th minute Ryan Babel danced his way through the defence before being brought down in the box. Up stepped Philip Degen but Almunia dived to his left to push round the post. With extra time looking ever more appetising William Gallas headed home his second goal for The Reds against his former club. A good victory to send us through to the 4th round.

Liverpool 2-3 Manchester United

A game of many twists and turns and one which I'd have liked to have won, being a derby game and all. Fernando Torres gave us the lead with a good finish from a tight angle. A cheap corner proved costly for Liverpool as Darren Fletcher headed in from a Giggs cross. 3 Minutes later Wayne Rooney popped up to give Manchester United the lead after he and Berbatov played a neat one-two before smashing into the roof of the net. On came Maxi Rodriguez and what a substitution it was as he got the equaliser in the 72nd minute. But there was to be one more twist as Berbatov combined with Rooney once again to break Liverpool hearts and give Man Utd all 3 points.

Liverpool 4-1 Vitoria Sport Club (Europa League)

A good victory in Europe as we push on to qualify from our group. Another Torres hat-trick and a Jovanovic goal gave us all 3 points in which was a close encounter.

Liverpool 2-0 Stoke

Good to get back on track in the Premier League. A good performance especially impressed with Babel and Cole, both getting unusual starts but deserve their place. Goals from Maxi and Gerrard gave us all 3 points.

Liverpool 2-2 Fulham

Dissapointed with the result as I thought we could look to make up some ground on leaders Cheslea. We went 1-0 up but then 2 Zamora goals put us behind. Luckily Maxi Rodriguez was on form to score twice to give us the point.

Liverpool 3-1 Fiorentina

Again another good result in Europe and I really hope we can push on and carry this form on in the Premiership. Joe Cole got a goal which he deserved and Gerrard and a Frey own goal wrapped up the goals for us.

Liverpool 4-1 West Brom

We welcomed the Baggies to Anfield today and we tought them a footballing lesson. We bizarrely went 1-0 down after dominating the first 20 minutes. At half time we were still trailing so on came Maxi Rodriguez. In the 51st minute he popped up to equalise after a well worked move which he started. Shelvey and Jovanovic got their names on the scoresheet aswell along with another Maxi Rodriguez goal. Good result for the boys.

Liverpool 1-0 Newcastle (League Cup)

It was the second time we'd met Newcastle this year but I knew it wasn't going to be easy, even if we had won 3-0 last time. It was a match which both teams didn't want to lose. A cagey first half resulted in a 0-0 half time score. But in the 57th minute Joe Cole received a lofted ball over the top just to head into the bottom corner. From then on Liverpool dominated and deserved to progress to the Quarters where they will meet Chelsea.

Liverpool 2-0 Sunderland

Sunderland were the ones at the foot of the table coming into today's game with only 1 point to show. However they started brightly but when Fernando Torres was clean through after a great ball from Mascherano he was never going to miss. Torres was up to his old tricks once again as he capitalised on a defensive mix up to slot home his and Liverpool's 2nd of the day.

not sure mate, apparently 'takeover could be close' <)

New Liverpool owners offer Malin permanent job.

Just hours after Christian Purslow completed the takeover of the Merseyside Giants he has confirmed that he has offered Josh Malin the full time managers job. He had this to say: "Josh has been very patient and mature through-out this takeover and that impressed me. He has also rebuilt Liverpool into a top 4 side so far this season and I don't see why he shouldn't be given a full time chance here".

Liverpool 2-1 Fiorentina (Europa League)

Liverpool continued their European dream with a trip to Italy. After a boring first half ending at 0-0, both sides made changes, and it was to be a Fiorentina sub that played a huge part in giving them the lead. Khouma Babacar went along way before crossing, the ball in found Gilardino unmarked at the back post but his header cannoned of the back of Jamie Carragher wrong footing Pepe Reina. Liverpool pushed for the equaliser and their reward came when Dirk Kuyt rose highest to head into the bottom corner. An injury to Glen Johnson saw Joe Cole replace him and it was to be no other than the man himself who gave Liverpool a priceless victory and secured their last 16 spot.

Liverpool 4-0 Blackpool

Liverpool welcomed struggling Blackpool to Merseyside today and Torres and co. never looked like dropping a point. Torres scored 2 delightful individual effort whilst Gerrard popped up with one himself. Joe Cole again deputising for the injured Glen Johnson popped up on the edge of the box to smash home after a Dirk Kuyt cross.

Liverpool 4-1 West Ham

If we won today, it would put us back on level terms with leaders Cheslea and we did it in style. Fernando Torres continued his great form with a simple tap in to give The Reds the lead. Torres was again involved in the second goal when he was clattered into by Jonathan Spector, Milan Jovanovic cooly slotted home the penalty for his 4th of the season. Cole got his 3rd in as many matches but this time from a far more advanced role coming on for Torres as a lone striker. Babel completed the rout on 89 minutes with a thunder bolt from 25 yards.

Sign Pato :) tehe! Nah just kidding, but I like this story mate keep it up, some nice results :)
