***** was moved down to the reserves this season in order to get some more game time, but he didn’t get as much as he would have liked. ***** had some injury troubles this season, out for a total of 3 months, but he was still able to produce some good performances for the England Under 21s. Will next season be the season that Ancelotti lets ***** play more regularly for the Liga BBVA champions?

Nathan Burbidge (Nathan)
Leeds (on loan from Arsenal)
Apps: 28
Goals: 9
Assists: 5
Burbidge was loaned out once again, this time to Championship side Leeds where he was a regular starter, and helped lead them to a 4th place finish, resulting in promotion through the playoffs, impressive considering Burbidge was out for 3 months of his loan through injury! Burbidge has been in fine form the England Under 21s, but is yet to be called up to the senior squad. Will new manager Mancini choose to loan Burbidge out again next season, or will he be given a chance?

Cubitt was once again loaned out, this time to Championship side Stoke, but he was unable to make any impact on their promotion winning season, mainly due to a torn calf muscle keeping him out for 4 months. Cubitt has found himself on the transfer list at Man City, and will be hoping to move somewhere that will appreciate his potential. The youngster also got a couple more youth appearances for England.

Calum De Ferdinho (Calum)
Liverpool
Apps: 13
Goals: 0
Assists: 1
De Ferdinho had an average season with Liverpool, making most of his appearances from the bench, but he looks set to have a very bright future, now being tutored by Steven Gerrard, adding to his wealth of knowledge gained from other players. De Ferdinho gained 6 more international caps, continuing to impress at the top level. De Ferdinho was also able to help Liverpool to the final of the Europa League, but they lost to Sevilla, and they also finished 2nd in the Premier League behind Chelsea.

Man United
Apps: 25

Assists: 1
De Gea had a decent season with Man United, getting plenty of appearances with the first team, but they were unable to win any trophies under Mike Phelan, who was in turn given the sack, who was replaced by Louis Van Gaal. De Gea featured primarily on the left this season. De Gea was rewarded for his form with 7 England caps this season, making his debut against Northern Ireland and scoring his first goal against San Marino.

Fulham (on loan from Liverpool)

Elder was loaned out to Fulham this season, where he featured regularly and helped them avoid relegation. However, 6 weeks of injuries meant that Elder couldn’t get as much football as he would have liked. A decent season was made better by Craig Levein, who let Elder make his international debut against the Czech Republic, and Elder has since gone on to make 2 more Scotland appearances.

The God (Redrup)
Birmingham
Apps: 33

God was subject to a transfer worth £6.75m in the summer, and would become an important player for new club Birmigham, who finished 10th in the Premier League under Alan Curbishley. Even with a groin strain causing him to miss 3 weeks of football, God continued to impress in the England Under 21s team, but still awaits a call up to the senior squad.

Hughes managed to impress manager Moyes this season, earning a regular place in the first team squad, and helping Everton to an 8th place finish in the Premier League. Hughes continued to play a key role on the left wing for Uruguay too, earning himself 7 more caps. Miraculously, Hughes hasn’t succumbed to injury once in his career!

Chase Status (Gaffer)
Newcastle
Apps: 10
Goals: 2
Assists: 2
Status had an average season for Newcastle, not really managing to make much of an impact in the sides 12th place finish under Joaquin Caparros. When he was played though, Status was played mainly on the right wing. Status was able to make a few more appearances for the Scotland Under 21s, but it was overall a poor season for the midfielder.

Ajax

The versatile Todorovic had a good season for Ajax, playing a key role in their Eredivise winning campaign. Todorovic has been becoming a key player for the side, and his ability to play in midfield and attack has been useful, although he has mainly utilised in the centre of the park. He may have played an even bigger role had his season not been marred by 8 weeks of injuries! Todorovic also made 6 more appearances for his country.
