Carlo Ancelotti 4-4-2 by Passion4FM

Good to see the positive feedback on this tactic. Plays great football with my Hoffenheim side. Volland scored 28 goals in 30 games. Finished 2nd just behind Bayern.

that's a very good result. you're hoffenheim after all and bayern are in a different league :P

I cant see your images in #1 post! How do you line up Real Madrid? Which player suits which role?

WHich other teams do you think are ideal for your tactic? Teams that already have a suitable squad

How would you line up Man United and Man City?

de Gea
Rafael
Jones
new cb
Shaw

WP - Di Maria
DLP - Carrick/Herrera
Roam - Rooney ?
AP - Mata

Cmpl fwrd - RvP
DLF - Falcao?

City:
Hart
Zabaleta
Mangala
Kompany
Kolarov

WP - Silva
DLP - Fernandinho
Roam - Yaya
AP - New?

Cmpl - Dzeko
DLF - Aguero

that's weird you didn't see the images.

my lineup with real madrid first season

right to left

casillas
carvajal varane ramos marcelo
james modric kroos isco
benzema ronaldo

there are lots of teams that can play this, it's also fun to build a team for this.

Man Utd

De Gea
Rafael Jones Rojo/Evans Shaw
Mata Herrera Carrick/Blind Di Maria

Had a tremendous amount of joy with this tactic in the first season with Marseille. Retrained Andre Ayew as a striker to fill the CF role. I saw you had mentioned Ronaldo as who the role was supposed to emulate and I immediately thought of Ayew as having the attributes required for that role. He shined until he broke his leg - bagging 21 in 23 games. Brought in Giovinco in January as the absolute perfect DLF for this formation - agile, creative, and with a high work rate. Turned in 13 goals and 8 assists in 18 appearances. Hard to do much better than that. One of the other January signings - Lozano turned out to fare much better than Payet had as well. That's not to say Payet wasn't solid - 2 goals and 12 assists in 19 apps, but I'll definitely take Lozano's 6 goals and 5 assists in 13 games.

I'm certainly interested into how this tactic will fare going into the Champions' League in season 2. Given that I'm playing as Marseille I have a very small transfer fund, but a ton of talented youth at basically every position, so we're going to give it a go with essentially what we've got. I've been given 9m to spend, and I'll likely use that on some cover for the backline and out on the wing. I'll certainly report back with results.

many great results, and a very strong finish to the season. some narrow defeats here and there :/ good luck in the second season

Rojo can play CB alongside Jones. Evans and Smalling are the weakest link but they still doing great in the tactic. I trained Valencia at FB so he rotate with Rafael.

Blind can play DLP. Mata doing great for me at RPM and Adnan at AP. Rooney can play AP as well. So there's few attacking option if you are Man Utd. You should buy a good DM and CB/RB.
Cheers mate!

Nice, cheers. So CR7 should as Deep lying forwrd?

Would this be the ideal XI for Liverpool?

Mignolet
Johnson Sakho Lovren Moreno
____Gerrard Henderson Coutinho
Lallana
Sterling Sturridge

Or should Gerrard swap w/ Henderson? Coutinho or Lallana or even Sterling as right AP?

I don't understand why people always test tactics in their second third or fourth season... i mean its easy to test one then since the other teams get weaker and you stronger. Test one in the first season and you'll see it wont be that easy.

this looks like a good lineup. if the players work well there, then just keep it like that, if not then of course just tinker around

and this is relevant to the tactic because?

Well, I know a lot people dont really feel that its a challenge to try any tactic with Real Madrid but I decided to do so mainly to see the tactic from its "sourcematerial".

So far, its looking really great. No new signing (not necessary w/ RM)
Preseason:
Tapia 13-0
Le Mont LS 1-0
Benfica 3-2
Leiria 1-0
Sporting CP 7-1
Parma 1-1
Hoffenheim 3-0

Season:
Euro supercup Sevilla 2-0
Spanish supercup Atletico 2-0
Cordoba 3-0

So, so far all wins except one draw against Parma.

Trying it with Liverpool. Preseason was fine. Then the season kicked off with a narrow win away at Swansea (3-2) and then a loss at home against City (1-3) and then a win at home against Stoke (5-0), win at Sunderland (3-1).

Benfica away 3-2 win. I was leading up until about 60th minute when they got a penalty, and shortly after they scored again. Feels like im very wounerable at the back. 17 shots, 9 at goals and about 60% pos for me is still good away at Benfica.

After that: Villa at home (2-0) Sounds like a good result but it took me about 80 min to score the first goal and then finally a penalty in the 89th to score the second. 21 shots, 11 on goal and 67% in pos which is great.

Think the problem is here that City was lethal on counter attacks, and that is something i fear i will struggle against the whole season - playing away and against bigger clubs.

it's still the beginning of the season, your tactic might not be fully fluid. have you tried using the contain tweak from OP to see out results?

stats are good, sometimes the players will just miss chances, it happens :/

you can try putting a standard or counter mentality for tougher games if you like, see if that works for you

Alright, back again to my RM save.
Lost the second leg in spanish cup against ATletico 2-3, but still won the **** thing.
Sociedad away 1-1
Atletico home 6-1 win
Olympiakos home 3-0 win
Deportivo away 1-1
Elche home 3-0 win
Villarreal away 6-2 win
Malmö away 5-0 win
Athletic home 3-0 win
Levante away 2-1 win
Napoli home 5-2 win

And then, finally. The real test of the season: El Clasico. Barca has been unbeaten with 8 straight wins. I won 2-1 at home with 30 shots, 10 hit the target and 62% in poss. Barca had 7 shots, 2 at goal (so, really unlucky to concede) and 38% pos.

edit:
Granada away 3-1 win
Napoli away 4-2 win
Rayo home 5-0 win
Eibar away 1-0 win

Now, this last match is really showing the weakness in the tactic. Only a 1-0 victory against Eibar, whos dead last in the league. 33 shots, 11 on goal and 66% pos. Ronaldo rated a 6.0. I dont mind the odd "sometimes strikers dont score" but we're not really convincing away from home. We do tend to struggle a bit too often for my liking

teams must be ******** their pants when they visit the Bernabeu :)

With this formation, it would have to be like this:

Aim at: SHORT

gk - default
dr - back
dcr - at. far
dcl - st. far
dl - back
mcr - default
mcl - deep
ml - default
amr - default
stc - default
stcl- keeper

IMPORTANT: DR takes right corner, DL takes left corner.

You will have only one player back, but trust me, you will score a lot more and the opposition will rarely take advantage of it. Try this exact setup for a few games and tell me if it works.
Is this suppose to mean "stand at far post" or did you misstype letter S and A and mean "attack far post"?

away games are always tougher, but i cant see how 33 shots and 66% possession isnt convincing? if he gets 6.0 he misses his chances, all you can do is sub him

True. I have found that away games in FM15 is always tough irregardless of any tactic I use. I have lost to lower leagues teams before by a single goal margin. Same situation, 30+ shots but none went in. Opp had 2 shots on target and they scored one.

If my striker had few shots on goal but not scoring and rating low in the 1st half, chances are he will not score in the 2nd half so I usually sub him out early.
