01/03/15 - Celta v Elche

Horrible performance to go with a very poor result to start the month. We should be winning these types of games easily, nothing to say apart from we we very poor and deserved to lose.

04/03/15 - Real Madrid v Celta

A really tough result to take after we eqaulised and were level at the Bernabeu with only 10 minutes left. A Khedira wonderstrike is what beat us. We went there expecting to come away with nothing and we did come away with nothing, but we gave the league leaders a run for their money. They have only not won 2 games in the league this season.

07/03/15 - Villarreal v Celta

Another loss making it 3 in a row and in a week. I feel we deserved a point from this game, as soon as we got one goal back we looked more likely to score, we hit the post and had a few chances, but this is just another game that has gotten away from us. We must re-group quickly with a huge game against Bilbao next week. We have fallen 10 points behind 4th place Atletico, looks like Champions League is sadly now out of reach.

15/03/15 - Celta v Athletic

Rafinha was missing as he picked up a niggling chest injury. But what a performance! We outclassed them, two quality goals from Nolito gave us the lead, and Sergi Samper capped it off with his first goal for the club. They never really had a clear chance, which makes the clean sheet even more pleasing. Hopefully this is the change in fortunes we needed after a horrible start to the month.

21/03/15 - Levante v Celta

I regard Levante as a decent team with some good players, however they are struggling in 17th. However they were the better team on the day, and beat us 1-0. Gazzaniga should'e kept it out, but we will move on.



Injury News

Terrible news as our young hot prospect Ruben Blanco is injured for 5-6 weeks. This means that on loan keeper Gazinniga will get some game time. Ruben Blanco has been making brilliant progress, so it is a real shame to see him out for most of the season.

He has been loyal all season, but now Brazilian giants Sao Paulo have become interested in his services. I spoke to him however, and I convinced him to give it one more season at Celta to see how he felt. They did enquire about Orellana, he has a release clause of 21 million euros so I negotiated that, and they declined. I would much rather keep him, he has become a key player for us this year.


Managers Notes

-In a month where we were aiming for 9 points we pick up 3. Very dissapointing, as we let games get away from us too easily. Every game that we lost this month, each was lost by 1 goal. This has led to us looking behind rather than up the table.
-As well as this, our strikers have been very poor. Both Charles and Larrivey have been shocking, especially Larrivey. I will be looking for replacements in the summer.


Liga BBVA

Atletico have been in great form and are now 13 points ahead of us, meaning the best we can hope for this year is the Europa League. The mid-pack is very close and we must be careful not to slip back into the fight. The title race is still on, after Barca beat Real in the second El Classico of the year.

Quick note guys - I have changed the layout and screenshot size, I think it is a big improvement. Putting a lot of effort into this right now, so any feedback is really appreciated!
 
The layout is OK mate. You're doing very well, 6th place with Celta is brilliant. Didn't know they have such fine players in the squad like this Spanish RB or the young GK. I hope your board won't be mean when it comes to establishing budgets.

Thanks a lot mate, yeah they do have a few really nice young players. In desperate need of a striker though!

April Review

04/04/15 - Celta v Barcelona

What a strange game. We end up loosing to Barca by 2 goals, but this game could've gone either way. Their front three of Messi, Suarez and Neymar however, were unstoppable. A much better performance than I was expecting, we really took the game to Barca, but we came away with 0 points.

09/04/15 - Granada v Celta

A great performance and result against a good Granada side, who we lost to in the cup earlier in the season. Cordoba who can't stop scoring against us bagged one again, but we were the better side and deserved all 3 points. We seem back to ourselves, Nolito brilliant again.

Unreal how we didn't win this game. We had the chances but couldn't finish, they never looked like scoring. Jonny the only positive to take away from otherwise a poor performance.


19/04/15 - Eibar v Celta

It looked like we were going to have one of those days again, where we simply cannot score, but Abeid hit a long range effort which the keeper did well to save, and Jonny was there to score the rebound. A good dominant performance, however we should be beating Eibar comfortably.

26/04/15 - Celta v Real Madrid

What a performance!!! We beat the Real Madrid 1-0, and we deserved our win. Like the Barca game we took the game to them, this time we kept Ronaldo, Bale and Benzema very quiet. We grabbed an early goal through a Krohn-Dehli header and looked good value for our lead. Ruben Blanco had a superb game, keeping a few decent efforts out, as well as young centre back Sergi Gomez. This ends a terrible week for Madrid, as they had just lost to Liverpool in the Champions League quarter final. This was a huge loss for Madrid in the title race, as well as a key win for us to stay ahead of the chasing pack.

29/04/15 - Celta v Malaga

Another top performance from the lads today. We were by far the better team, and ease to a 2-0 victory at home. This marks Ruben Blanco's 3rd game since he returned from injury, he has kept a clean sheet on all games. There were a few injury scares to Krohn-Dehli and Orellana, but nothing to serious.

Nolito has been our best player for the last few months, he will miss 3 weeks and most of the rest of the season.

It looks like the highest we will achieve in the league this year is 6th, Atletico and Athletic who we were with a few months ago have not stopped winning. You can see how much of an effect our win against Madrid had on the title race. The Spanish Cup final is between Barca and Real, I believe that means that 6th and 7th place qualify for the Europa League..

A good month for us, taking 13 points from a possible 18. We have held off the challenge from Sevilla, Deportivo and Granada so far. The only problem for us is Atletico picked up 12 points and Athletic picked up 15, taking them out of basically out of reach. Sevilla will be a huge game.


Managers Notes

-Young GK Ruben Blanco has yet again shown his worth, since coming back from injury he has started 3 games, kept 3 clean sheets and won 3 games. He lifts the whole team, we feel a lot more comfortable as a team with Ruben Blanco in goal.

-We are getting desperate for a striker. Charles and Larrivey have not had good seasons, especially Larrivey.
 
What a fantastic month! Tremendous victory against Madrid! The last games may be tough without Nolito though.

Yeah it was a sweet win. Ahh i feel we are more solid defensively with this formation ;)

May Results

03/05/15 - Almeria v Celta

lmeria have been in a relegation dog-fight all year, however have been on a good run recently and therefore climbed the table. We went there and put in a professional performance, coming out with a great result. Rafinha filled in for Nolito on the left wing and player brilliantly. This game also secured our place in the Europa League next season!

17/05/15 - Valencia v Celta

A tough test away at a Valencia side fighting for a Champions League spot. We went 2-0, however they fought back and won the game 3-2. They were the better team and deserved to win. I'm not too worried as we are effectively playing for nothing.

20/05/15 - Celta v Sevilla

If we didn't lose this game we would secure 6th place. We had the chances and were the better side but end up loosing 1-0 through a sloppy goal.

24/05/15 - Celta v Espanyol

A poor performance to end the season. We draw at home to Espanyol, however Sevilla lost so we finish in 6th.

We finish in a very respectable 6th place. I thought it would be a struggle to hold off Sevilla, but they were suprisngly poor. We weren't good enough to challenge for a Champions League spot all season, I blame a lack of depth. That is the target next year! Barca win the league led by Messi, Neymar and Suarez who were all unstoppable all year, Levante, Cordoba and Eibar are relegated.

Well done on coming 6th! To finish ahead of Sociedad, Villarreal and Sevilla is an achievement!

Really tough decision, was between Rafinha, Jonny and Nolito. Nolito gets it only because Jonny has lacked discipline, and Rafinha's performances faded slightly as the season went on. Roma and Arsenal are interested in Nolito and Jonny, so we will do well to keep hold to either of them.

My Young Player of the Year

Without doubt goes to our young keeper Ruben Blanco. He has been senstational in goal. When he is on the pitch he is a lift to the whole team. Hopefully he can continue with his good progress.

Squad Overview

I am very happy with how the whole squad has performed this year, with the exception of our strikers. Our main aim for the summer is to bring in a new striker for next season, although I feel our budget will be limited. I would love to keep hold of most the squad for next year, however with big teams interested, I can't see it happening. There will likely be a lot of different faces next year!​
 
Why buy Ronaldo when you can have Morgan Sanson for the same amount of money?
