BREAKING NEWS FROM STAMFORD BRIDGE

A month after the departure of Guus Hiddink as interim manager at Chelsea FC, young and relatively inexperienced manager Sam Illyroy has been named the new man at Stamford Bridge. Bringing along coaches Fausto Salsano and Steve Leonard, he is certainly a gamble with no experience at the top level yet, and with only a few coaching badges to distinguish himself as a manager.

It is certainly a bizarre appointment from Ramon Abramovich but in his opening interview today he said that he thought he was "a gamble worth taking" and that it was neccessary to bring in young English talent as managers into the Premiership, or the game would be reaching a point of no return.

He has inherited a strong squad and also a very generous transfer kitty of 50 million. When asked about his transfer policies he replied: "I will be buying whatever players I feel suit the tactics of the squad and are either at an acquired level, or have the potential to play at our squad. I also think it vital that we bring the youth as there is a rich crop of young talent available to me and we need to capitalize on that.

Time will tell whether this appointment is a shrewd one, or a drastic error, and we'll be following in the steps of this new, young manager all the way through.

Goalkeepers: Petr Cech, Henrique Hilario, Ross Turnbull
Defenders: Ashley Cole, John Terry, Branislav Ivanovic, Alex, Jose Bosingwa, Paulo Ferreira, Jeffrey Bruma, Ricardo Carvalho, Belletti, Yury Zhirkov
Midfielders: Michael Essien, Jon Obi Mikel, Michael Ballack, Nemanja Matic, Joe Cole, Florent Malouda, Deco, Lampard, Gael Kakuta
Strikers: Didier Drogba, Daniel Sturridge, Nicolas Anelka, Salomon Kalou

Good luck mate. Any ideas on signings so far? I would be looking for a young defender personally ;)

maybe jack rodwell would be a cracking youngster, wont be cheep though

cheers guys :) got way more on this than I did my last post.
signings and pre-season coming up..

---------- Post added at 10:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:54 PM ----------

Right well guys, I'm gonna need some ideas I think. I'll tell you the positions that I think need sorting out:
I think we're covered for defence, if anything I may need another full back.
I believe the defensive midfield position in my 4-1-2-1-2 formation needs a-boosting because Mikel and Essien both go to the African Cup of Nations, so I'm thinking a young defensive midfielder who is good enough to play in the premiership.
I think maybe another striker, although I have already highlighted Demba Ba for this position, as I think he is very similar in his style to Didier Drogba.
Finally, I think I need someone who is comfortable in just the central midfield role.
Any suggestions would be very welcome :)

Chelsea sign Demba Ba from Hoffenheim for 11.5m

A primary target in this transfer window for Chelsea has finally made the move after turning down the opportunity to sign for FC Barcelona and becomes Sam's first signing as Chelsea manager.

He has become well known in Germany since signing for Hoffenheim for his sheer ability and knack for scoring goals, and has even been compared to Chelsea's Didier Drogba.

Speaking to ChelseaTV, Demba had this to say: "I am very pleased to have signed for Chelsea because they are a very strong club and I think I can help them push to the next level. For me, I decided to come because of the strong vibe around the club and the type of players they have there. I am very excited about the prospect of playing for such a well-supported club."

Time will tell how he will fit into the new manager's systems, and whether he will settle comfortably, but Illyroy had this to say of his new signing: "I'm here for the long run, and I am well aware of the short lifespan for Chelsea manager's in recent history but I really believe with the correct backing that Ramon is giving me, I can build a legacy at this club and Demba is the beginning of that legacy."

More information on this new signing is given below:

any suggestions on transfers pleeeeasse?
just starting pre-season now and I wanna get a few more in and I'd like some ideas.

will also be following as i´ve also done a few seasons with chelsea and quite enjoyed it. Good luck with the story, hope you enjoy being chelsea for a few seasons :) .
As for signings it sort of depends on what you prefer... if you want to invest in the future or in solid experince and of course how much you want to invest in a player. A few seasons in you can probably get a bunch of decent players on a free...
On my save i remember getting de rossi as dm for roughly £50m and also got cambiasso for aproximatly £45m and retrained him to dc but both are fairly expensive...

Yeah I'm willing to wait a few seasons now.
I've just Ba, so I want a new CM, a new DM and a RB
Right back will be second choice, so maybe an accomplished but cheap signing.
I want a young defensive mid, although I think I'm going for Jack Rodwell
and I would like another accomplished, but not too expensive centre mid :)
Thanks for commenting mate.

This story seems to be more popular than your Charlton one mate although I did like that one. I personally perfer to do stories on lower league clubs as it's more of a challenge.

Anyway good luck with this and hope you keep it up. :D I gave it 5 stars as well.

me too mate, let's face it who doesn't?
however, like you said it's more popular, and I've always wanted to take chelsea to the top and keep em there over a long stretch, which I've never been able to do, so I'm hoping I can. :) keep reading.

Sam Illyroy swoops for Everton's Jack Rodwell and Claude Makelele

Young Everton midfielder Jack Rodwell has signed a 4 year contract today with Chelsea, in a deal worth over 13 million pounds.

At the same time, Claude Makelele makes a spectacular return to the Bridge after two years away, in a bid to bolster Chelsea's squad for the upcoming season.

Speaking exclusively to ChelseaTV, Sam Illyroy had this to say: "I'm delighted that we've managed to bring Claude back to the club because he was the rock upon which the success of the Mourinho era was built. I still feel he has a lot to offer and who knows; afterwards he may be able to become a coach at the club!

"As for Jack, I think this truly is a coup, because he's a fantastic talent, and he reminds me of a young John Terry, as he once played in central midfield too at youth level. I think Chelsea is a brilliant place for him to mature, and hopefully he will become a big part of our future here."
