Having lost my schalke file (:'() earlier I've decided to make a return to my fm-debut by taking on teh challenge of chelsea again, although this time with a twist. Last time I lost my file and had to stop half way through my second season so this time I'll be making sure I have auto-save on.
but the twist is that I'm not going to buy any senior players. Instead I will keep what I have and try and win the league simply with what Chelsea have here, bringing players through the ranks, but still being the best team in England.
Please follow :) Will do game-by-game updates, with some live matches!

SHOCK AT STAMFORD BRIDGE AS ROOKIE REPLACES OUTGOING ANCELOTTI

Given the chance to manage the Italian national side appeared to be too big a temptation for Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti, as he was prised away from Ramon Abramovich today.

An even bigger shock than this however is the announcement of young manager Sam Illyroy taking over at the Bridge. Relatively inexperienced, with just a few UEFA coach badges to show, Illyroy's appointment has been met with an invariably negative response from the fans.

"I mean, Ancelotti did a great job din't he so it's sad to see him leave n that, but I thought that at least Ramon would get in someone else big like Klinsmann or Guardiola, but to me this is an outrage."

ChelseaFC today made an announcement about the appointment on their website;

Ray Wilkins said:
We're sad to see Carlo leave us after such a fantastic season but we're fully confident and have faith in the new gaffer. He seems to know what he's doing around the training ground and the lads are all starting to warm to him. We're also making public our new policy of keeping to our own, meaning that the future of ChelseaFC is firmly in the academy. From this point we will no longer be spending any money in the transfer market.

Quiet bizzare happenings at Stamford Bridge, and we will be following all the affairs over at the Bridge as the season progresses.

Keep tuned.

CHELSEA PRE-SEASON IN SCOTLAND

Chelsea were good to their word and failed to bring any new faces into the team as they made a successful pre-season trip over to Scotland:

DUNFERMLINE 0:4 CHELSEA - Terry (13, 90+2), Kalou (69), Benayoun
BRISTOL CITY 0:3 CHELSEA - Ferreira (4), Ramires (11), Lampard (85)
ST. MIRREN 0:2 CHELSEA - Kalou (1, 6)
DUNDEE UTD 0:2 CHELSEA - Terry (42, 71)
RANGERS 0:1 CHELSEA - Essien (22)

No real problems for Chelsea, who despite injuries to key players such as Drogba, Cech, Alex, Bosingwa and Essien, managed to sail through their pre-season ahead of Sunday's match.

PLAYER OF PRE-SEASON

JEFFREY BRUMA
Played every game of pre-season, putting in a fantastic shift against Rangers, and this could be a big season for him at the age of 18.

Chelsea's first game of the season is the Charity Shield match against Manchester United, played at Wembley Stadium.
This will be a live match, so make sure to be tuned in.

Pre-season was relatively straight-forward for the blues, who mixed seniors with reserve players to great success.

LIVE TEXT COMMENTARY - REFRESH FOR UPDATES

15:15: Good afternoon guys, and I'm typing live from Wembley, and this is where the season truly kicks off. And what better way to kick it off than with one of the biggest rivalries around these days, Chelsea vs. Manchester United. Team news and more coming up.

15:18: We heard today that Patrick van Aanholt finalised a 5 month loan deal to Swansea, so we can be certain that he won't be playing today. The biggest team news is, however, whether or not Didier Drogba will make the starting XI after returning from injury to train on Thursday.

15:22: I guess we can also confirm the players that won't be taking part in today's game; Manchester United will be without Patrice Evra, Owen Hargreaves, Rio Ferdinand and Anderson. Chelsea will not have Jose Bosingwa, Alex or Petr Cech available, meaning they will have to start Hilario or Ross Turnbull for this one.

15:27: BREAKING NEWS: We've just heard from the Chelsea manager that Didier Drogba will indeed start, despite having played no minutes in pre-season and not being match-fit. Big call from the new gaffer.

15:30: BBC Pundit Lee Dixon: "That's a big call for me, playing Drogba. He's not played at all in pre-season and the lads seemed to perform and gel well without him. That said, it's a massive boost for them, and if he is on form, he will be unplayable.

15:34: The squads have been announced. Chelsea have gone with: Turnbull, Cole, Ferreira, Terry, Ivanovic, Mikel, Essien, Lampard, Kalou, Anelka, Drogba. No room for player of pre-season Bruma then, with Ivanovic replacing him in central defence.

15:36: And the United squad is: Van der Sar, Pasqual, O'Shea, Vidic, Brown, Giggs, Park, Scholes, Fletcher, Rooney, Berbatov. Pasqual, the new signing, is in place for Patrice Evra, and that is still a strong Man United squad.

15:46: They're all out on the pitch now at Wembley, and lining up. I hope you're all ready, this should be a cracker

15:57: And we're underway. The curtain raiser for the new season, and Manchester United get us off and rolling.

16:02: Essien with the first real chance of the game, finding space in the middle of the park before testing van der Sar with a fine long range shot. Good save though from the veteran dutchman.

16:08: And now it's Turnbull being called into action for the first time, a stinging shot from Fletcher, but it's a fine save.

16:14: Chelsea pegged back into their own penalty box a bit at the moment; Pasqual sends a teasing ball across the box but Park can't quite reach it. O'Shea's running in and wins Manchester United a corner.

16:18: It appears the Blues are playing a counter-game, and it's working well on this long Wembley pitch. Ivanovic immediately clears Giggs' corner and Anelka chases, winning Chelsea a corner at the other end.

_46175646_net_buster_44.jpg
GOAL Manchester United 0:1 Chelsea (Frank Lampard)

16:19:
Brilliantly worked corner from Chelsea, and Anelka's hard running has paid off. Zhirkov plays it short into the box for Lampard who takes one touch before slamming it high into the roof of the net. Advantage Chelsea.

16:26: United can't find a way to break the Blues down at the moment, Berbatov venting his frustration with a long range shot, but it whistles high and wide.

16:34: Ooohh and Chelsea weren't far from a second there. Drogba whips in a fantastic looking free-kick which Essien gets a glance on to, but it goes just over the bar.

16:42: Giggs whips in a cross from the left but Rooney heads it way over. Turnbull hasn't really been troubled in this half.

_46175652_ht_44x.jpg
HALF TIME Manchester United 0 - 1 Chelsea
Chelsea have looked the better side, and are deserving of their lead. Manchester United on the other hand need to change something, before they go another goal behind.

17:00: We're back underway again, and no changes from either team.

17:02: Manchester United straight out of the blocks. Park does brilliantly to earn a corner, and Giggs' corner is brilliant, but Wes Brown meets it only to see it smash off the crossbar. Unlucky.

17:04: We see our first yellow card of the day, for Mikel, and it's fully deserved, a very rash and unnecessary slide on Fletcher.

17:06: United started this half well, but once again show that they are susceptible to the counter-attack. The ball is cleared long and Anelka chases it down before sending a wonderful ball across the pitch to Drogba, who earns the Blues a corner.

_46175646_net_buster_44.jpg
GOAL Manchester United 0:2 Chelsea (Frank Lampard)

17:07:
Oh and he's only gone and done it again! Fantastic work from Frank Lampard, collecting the short corner again before slamming it past a despairing Edwin van der Sar. Chelsea 2 to the good.

17:08: That goal woke them up. Manchester United are now all full of urgency, and Vidic is incredibly unlucky to see his powerful header smash off the crossbar.

17:14: Chelsea make the first sub of the day, 18 year old Jeffrey Bruma coming on for Branislav Ivanovic.

17:18: Ooh that was mighty close. Anelka plays Lampard in on the edge of the box, and it looks like he's shaping to shoot, only for him to slide Kalou in one-on-one with van der Sar, but it's a fantastic save from the Dutchman.

17:20: O'Shea's now in the book, after a clumsy challenge on Kalou. Running out of ideas?

17:22: Benayoun replaces Anelka, who has had a good game. It's a debut for the Israeli.

17:26: Oh well, I think he really should have done better there. Evans commits to the tackle on Drogba, but a lovely bit of skill gets him away and he's going one-on-one with van der Sar and tries to square it, when he would have been better to just shoot. Essien's tackled, and Chelsea earn a corner.

PENALTY TO CHELSEA

RED CARD (Paul Scholes)

_46175646_net_buster_44.jpg
GOAL Manchester United 0:3 Chelsea (Frank Lampard)

17:31:
Well, well, well. That really caps Chelsea's and Frank Lampard's day off. Chelsea's corner isn't dealt with by United, and Schole's goes in clumsily on Benayoun right on the edge of the box. It's his second yellow, and he has to see red. Up steps Frank Lampard as cool as you like to seal a great victory. Gael Kakuta replaces him, and he earns himself a standing ovation.

17:39: Kakuta's causing a lot of problem's for United here, with his forward runs, and superb passes. A great through ball sees Essien away, but van der Sar does enough to concede a corner.

FULL TIME Manchester United 0:3 Chelsea

17:47:
And that my friends is that, Chelsea are the Charity Shield winners 2009, thanks to a superb Lampard hat-trick, against a subdued Manchester United side. I hope you've enjoyed following the game, they will be many more days like this over the season to come so make sure you're around for the live text commentary available.

DROGBA FACES 3 WEEK LAY-OFF

didier-drogba-ivory-coast-japan-world-cup-injury-604jpgjpg-4f7c30d6fbbf0eb9_large.jpg

Just weeks after returning from one injury, Drogba faces another 3 weeks on the sidelines after returning from international duty with a groin strain. This could be a big blow for the Chelsea manager early on in the season, especially with crucial first matches against Manchester United and Arsenal in the league.

oh my, that charity sheild commentry must have took you hours! i will defo be following this story! lots of hard work which is very nice! Keep it up!! :D (oh and go easy when you play wolves? ;))

Manchester United 1 - 0 Chelsea
FA Premier League
wayne-rooney_1704956c.jpg

After their fantastic win against them at Wembley a week before, many Chelsea fans were tipping them to go on and rub the salt in the wound with a win at Old Trafford, as it wasn't to be, Man United scraping a victory thanks to Rooney's effort just after half-time.

Chelsea were never too far behind Manchester United, and in fact had the better chances, Anelka missing a header from 5 yards, before Lampard let loose a shot which van der Sar did very well to get hold of.

At half-time, it looked like the two teams were very much even, but United came out of the break energised, and Rooney played a nice one-two with Berbatov before slotting comfortably underneath Ross Turnbull.

Chelsea paid for their lack of a clinical edge, and without Didier Drogba up front as the big target man, they did seem to be lacking something. Unfortunately he will also be missing against Arsenal at home, so they will need to be thinking of a back-up plan for him.

Chelsea had pace on both wings, with Kalou and Malouda bombing on, but their hard work had no end product, after several chances were missed by the Blues, and they will be angered with themselves that they ended up dropping all 3 points.

But Manchester United get their first 3 points of the season, and win the first mini-duel between the top 4, as the Barclays Premier League gets underway.

Chelsea Team: Turnbull, Ferrerira, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole, Mikel, Essien (Ramires 59), Lampard, Anelka, Malouda (Zhirkov 67), Kalou (Benayoun 75)
Unused subs: Hilario, Bruma, Kakuta, Sturridge

Chelsea fans will agree that there is no better way to kick-start a season than a decent win against your rivals, and that's what Chelsea got at Stamford Bridge this evening. Just 3 days after their defeat to Manchester United, the Blues rallied and thanks to second-half goals from Nicolas Anelka and Michael Essien, they took maximum points.

Arsenal won't deny that Chelsea had the majority of the chances at Stamford Bridge. Daniel Sturridge started for them and was a real handful for Koscielny, breaking the offside trap to force a save early on. He also had a goal ruled out unfortunately for offside, as he made the run behind the defence, before rounding Almunia and slotting home.

The Gunners had their chances too, Arshavin heading a chance from 5 yards well over, when he should really have done better. Van Persie also went one-on-one with Hilario, but absolutely skied his effort, to the delight of the Chelsea fans.

Substitute Kalou, brought on for the injured Sturridge, changed the dynamics of the game, and his energy brought Chelsea's first goal. He chased down Denilson, before sliding the ball on to Essien. Essien delayed the pass before slotting in an inch perfect ball for Anelka to lap up, and he did putting Chelsea ahead.

Arsenal pressed late on, but didn't make any real chances, simply shots from outside the box. And they were punished for their profligacy in the last minute of the game, Kalou and Essien breaking before the latter buried home.

A great win for Chelsea, and a first league win for manager Illyroy. And that's without Didier Drogba and his incredible record against Arsenal.

Chelsea Team: Hilario, Cole, Ivanovic, Terry, Ferreira, Mikel, Essien, Lampard (Benayoun 86), Malouda (Ramires 68), Sturridge (Kalou 59), Anelka
Unused subs: Turnbull, Zhirkov, Bruma, Borini

great result against Arsenal, unlucky about Man U, good luck with the season :)

JEFFREY BRUMA OUT FOR 4 WEEKS
Pg-72-chelsea-youth_363507t.jpg

Just as he started settling into the Chelsea first team, 18 year old centre-back Jeffrey Bruma has been ruled out for the next month, for games which he was tipped to start in. Chelsea do have a boost however, as Alex returns from injury, and is in line to start against West Brom in a week's time.

i loved your first chelsea story so i will definately follow this one :D

thanks cfclegend :) and strikerv9dutch, yeah man utd we were unlucky against in the league, but that's football.

Fulham 1 - 2 Chelsea
FA Premier League
426-nicolasanelka--125106505932962400.jpg

Fulham almost managed a draw against the Champions thanks to some heroics from goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer. Chelsea bombarded the Fulham goal for the entire first half, but were thwarted time and time again by the Australian. Goals from Lampard and Anelka sealed victory.

In a lively first 45, the Blues were heavily on top, Malouda and Kalou involved in everything good about Chelsea. Three times Anelka was played through one-on-one with Schwarzer, only for him to produce some unbelievable saves to keep them in it.

Under 10 minutes into the second half, Pantsil brought down Malouda in the box, and Frank Lampard stepped up to convert and give Chelsea a deserved lead. But they were unable to build on it as Schwarzer continued his sublime form to deny them a whole host of chances.

And the Blues were predictably punished 10 minutes from time when Hangeland rose highest to head home Simon Davies corner and put Fulham level.

On come Benayoun for Kalou, and with Anelka pushed up front as a lone striker, Chelsea looked more dangerous. No sooner had Fulham scored, than Chelsea were level. Benayoun made space down the right before cutting back to Lampard whose perfectly timed through ball found Anelka who made no mistake, sealing the 3 points for Chelsea.

Chelsea Team: Hilario, Cole, Ivanovic, Terry, Ferreira, Mikel, Essien (Ramires 74), Lampard, Malouda (Sturridge 87), Kalou (Benayoun 77), Anelka
Unused subs: Turnbull, Zhirkov, Kakuta, Borini

yeah I thought that was gonna be the case when Schwarzre kept pulling out all the stops. But Nico saved us :)

CHELSEA GIVEN TOUGH CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW

View attachment 109034 View attachment 109035 View attachment 109036 View attachment 109037

Nothing comes easy in the Champions League, but the Blues' task was made harder today when the draw came out. Germany's FC Schalke have created a formidable team under Felix Magath, whilst Bursaspor are Turkey's Champions, despite being 4th seeds. Olympiakos can never be underestimated, as they have strong enough players in their ranks to cause a shock.

Elsewhere, Group G is being labelled the GROUP OF DEATH as Real Madrid, AC Milan and Tottenham all go head to head, with Unirea Urziceni the outsiders from Romania.

CARL MAGNAY JOINS PORT VALE ON LOAN FOR 5 MONTHS
View attachment 109042

Chelsea have announced ahead of this weekends clash with West Brom that Carl Magnay, a reserve defender who plays for Northern Ireland, will be joining Port Vale in League 2 until January. Not considered good enough even as back-up for the first team, Carl will be gaining experience in a tough league, and the Blues will hope that he comes back an improved player.

pretty tough group but your squad definately are good enough to win the group :)
