I knew you would bring Carriço to the thread, the only spot of light after years and years of ****** defenders. Yes, Carriço is a great prospect, and I love him too, but he is nowhere near the standard of David.
I'd say hes better. Much more restrained, less prone to mistakes, not brazilian, does not have palm tree-like hair, does not play for benfica.

David Luiz tackles, passes, shoots, runs, takes tackles, starts attacks.. I'd say he's better than Carriço, but this won't get nowhere.

as for this
Maybe its the palm tree hair, i might be jealous, lol
lol, aren't we all mate?

Have you seen that third faul in the video. Right in the balls. And the 4th he hitted with his elbow in the other guy's stomach. He's very agressive.

Would be a massive signings for the club if we pull it off, we need a Centre-Back badly and David Lui9z is young, energetic so he will bring alot to the table

So why aren't Chelsea tracking Carriço? I'll tell you: he just isn't as good. I've heard of Carriço because I follow the Portuguese leagues a bit, but lots more people will have heard of Luiz and not of Carriço, simply because Luiz is better and as such has a greater reputation.

Me. After punching a ref. True story.

Professional footballer. What pro footballer in a top league has done that? Nobody does it. Saying Luiz doesn't is no indictment on his character, and you're being silly.

That is only partially true. All im saying is, the guy is a dirty player, and hes not worth the 25 millions that chelsea are going to pay, which saddens me, because i dont like money entering benfica's vaults. i dont care the slightest about Luiz, **** him, **** chelsea, just dont give money to benfica.

There is your real problem aint it mate ;)

To be fair, if he does some of those challenges in the premiership and they are spotted, he will be rightly sent off and consequently villafied by the Chelsea fans. Defensively and stepping out of defence he seems a very good prospect, and there is nothing wrong with aggression when applied correctly, but he needs to cut out some of the idiotic / dirty stuff.

May I ask, why Chelsea need a centre back? With Terry, Alex and Ivanovic plus the youngsters they have enough cover. Stop playing Ivanovic at right bag and buy one instead!

I would rather him come over with this aggression but it will be down to Carlo and JT to tell him when its right to use it and when its not. Its actually quite the opposite, Chelsea fans love a tough player and if things arnt going right in a game somtimes a rash tackle gets us off our feet and gets us going.

In relation to your last point Ivanovic was immense at right back last season so i suspect he will become our perminant right back. Then we will have 4 centre backs in Terry, Bruma, Alex and Luiz, 3 right backs in Ferreira, Ivanovic and Bosingwa and 3 left backs in Cole, Van Aanholt and Zhirkov. Also Ivanovic can play centre back, Bruma can play Right back and Luiz can play anywere along the back 4 so its very fluent.

As i suggested the deal will include one of our youngsters plus 21million. Will be either Rajkovic, Matic, Borini or Van Aanholt (i would hope on loan).

I'm sure you wont love him when he sees red for a stupid trip or stamp that costs you the gameoO)

To be fair though, he is still young and I'm sure he is maturing now, he will be a good signing for the long term. I was just questionnong whether it is money spent that could have been better utilised elsewhere to bolster the squad. If I were a Chelsea fan, I want to see a specialist right back and a right winger come in. Kalou isn't good enough to challenge for the title

Ivanovic does a good job, but he doesn't provide the same threat that Cole does on the other side

I sure hope chelsea doesn't buy this guy. 25 million euros for a centreback does not make any sense. And especially this one, who, may i say, is highly overrated.

maybe you think tha carriço or polga are worh of that amount of money.

ganha juizo

Nah i agree Ivanovic dosen't give as much as a threat but we did ok last season with him at right back. I believe we need a right winger but Ancelotti likes the options he has at the moment.

Kalou isn't great, but he's not a starter after all.

I'm a big fan of Ivanovic at RB. To say he offers less attacking threat than Cole is to disregard his defensive solidity. One big tactical trend nowadays is to play one attacking fullback with one defensive one on the other side. For example, see Evra and O'Shea: O'Shea's defensive solidity allows Evra freedom to join the attack, and the defence shuffles left and forms a three, essentially making O'Shea another centre-back. This way, Evra can join the attack without leaving the defence exposed. Likewise, Ivanovic and Cole, Abidal and Alves, and even Clark and Walker for Villa.

30million euros + a player valued at 5mil according to Skysports. Personally, I think Chelsea got ****** here, basically just bought a Rio Ferdinand, hope he performs like him.

Rafael is our first choice RB who is very good in attacking. Evra joins attack without giving second thought about defence is because of Vidic. He is the one who covers all the space left by Evra.

I got your point but you chose wrong example ;)

I didn't choose any wrong example at all. Last year, that is what happened, and it worked well. Just because it isn't happening like that this year doesn't make my point any less valid. When O'Shea and Evra play, it still works like that.

lol in fairness, he still isnt as attacking as evra, who can often be the highest player up the pitch. Its more attacking than with O'shea but still lopsided

My bad. I thought you were talking about this season. Yes then your example is spot on if it is about last season but many Mancs wont say O'shea is defensively solid, he is good defender who keeps it simple than making those forward runs everytime.
