John Terry's brace was an inspiration to his side.
Chelsea dominated from start to finish this afternoon as they brushed Sunderland aside. Captain John Terry scored a brace, as did John Obi Mikel in between an own goal. Juan Mata and Fernando Torres scored late on to cap a blistering performance.

Juan Mata was in inspired form as he caused problems from start to finish. His corner after 4 minutes was headed home by Terry to give Chelsea the lead. Mikel then added a second with a tidy finish inside the box, before Bramble turned in a Juan Mata cross to make it 3-0.

One might have thought Chelsea would have been happy with that at the break but they pushed forward and were rewarded, first with a Terry volley from Mata's corner, and secondly with Mikel's second of the game as he pounced on Mignolet's spill to slam home.

After half time, things went from bad to worse for Sunderland as Lee Cattermole saw red for a rather awful foul on John Obi Mikel. Chelsea continued pushing to punish Sunderland and late on Juan Mata wrapped up a wonderful display with his first Chelsea goal, volleying home Anelka's cross. Fernando Torres then raced clear to score a 7th and seal a superb victory.

Illyroy said:
"We didn't expect quite such a win but we were well prepared today and the lads performed fantastically. We dominated from start to finish and finally we see the final product of the magnificent Juan Mata.
"If we can get Juan playing like this every game then I have full confidence in our championship credentials. This is a good performance today but there is more in the tank."

Wow fantastic win! Also you must be doing something right as you have got 2 goals out of Mikel! :p

Great story man! Nice to see Chelsea playing consistantly!

Chris - We have indeed! We weren't too bad against Arsenal to be fair so it was just a case of picking it up and carrying on, and I don't think we've conceded at all apart from that one game!
leedsunited1987 - Cheers pal, nice to hear from you too and hope you keep following. I'll be checking your story out.
cfc12345 - I couldn't quite believe it when he scored first, let alone the second time! Think he's ***** in real life but his stats are class on FM12.
Riess - thanks mate, we're on a nice little run so hopefully that will continue til the end of the season!

Thanks all for following and an update hopefully later tonight!

MATCH NEWS

Chelsea will have a full squad to pick from this evening. Only Michael Essien, Paulo Ferreira and Oriol Romeu were not registered for the tournament.

Likewise Olympiakos have a full squad to pick from, although Ljubomir Fesa is a doubt following a knee injury.

MATCH PREVIEW

The last time these two sides met was during the 2007/2008 campaign in which Chelsea qualified for the final. The manager will be hoping his team go one step further this season and they started well a fortnight ago with that win against Plzen. The Greek champions started their campaign off with a draw against Shakhtar and currently top the Greek Superleague.

Illyroy said:
"We started this campaign off nicely with that win against Plzen and I want to take it another step further today. The lads trained well since that fantastic weekend win and I will have plenty of decisions to make in terms of my starting XI."

Should pick up a comfortable three points. Good luck :)

Frank Lampard continued his goalscoring form but it wasn't enough to beat Olympiakos

Chelsea will be dissapointed this afternoon after struggling to see off their opponents Olympiakos. Frank Lampard gave Chelsea the lead just after the break, thanks to a goalkeeping error. But Algerian substitute Djebbour came off the bench to salvage a point.

Chelsea started the match with Anelka and Kalou up front, as they did against Plzen. And the two looked sharp early doors, Kalou twice dancing around defenders only to find goalkeeper Costanzo in his way.

The Blues were dominant in the first half, and 18 year old Josh McEachran once again put on a fine display, linking the midfield to the strikers. But despite playing Anelka in on a number of occasions, the French striker was unable to find a finish.

It was up to Chelsea stalwart Frank Lampard to break the deadlock which he did with aplomb after the break. Played in by the impressive Jose Bosingwa, Lampard found space just inside the box and slammed the ball towards the near post. Costanzo punched it into his side netting and will be dissapointed that he hadn't kept it out.

Lampard picked up a knock with quarter of an hour to go and was brought off to be replaced by Romelu Lukaku. But just moments later another substitute made the difference, Djebbour pouncing on a mistake by defender Alex to slot home with Olympiakos' first shot of the game.

Chelsea pushed in the closing stages for a winner but were unable to find one. And it could have been worse if Jean Il Makoun didn't squander a late one-on-one with Petr Cech.

Illyroy said:
"Certainly we're dissapointed with that outcome as we felt we played well enough to get the three points. We played some wonderful football at times and were cutting them open at will but sometimes you get games like this in football and we'll move on from it.
"I don't regret not starting Drogba or Torres as I felt the strikers I played were more than capable and unfortunately for them they just didn't have their shooting boots on today.
"As for Frank, he was looking tired after playing so many games recently and he also has a niggle on his knee so I thought it was justifiable to bring him off after the hour."

Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa (Ivanovic 75), Cole, Terry, Alex, Mikel, Ramires, Lampard (Lukaku 64), McEachran, Anelka (Malouda 75), Kalou
Unused subs: Turnbull, Mata, Drogba, Luiz

Goalscorers: Lampard (51)

Olympiakos: Constanzo, Maniatis, Mellberg, Papadopoulos, Marcano, Makoun, Fuster (Abdoun 51), Mirallas (Djebbour 64), Ibagaza, Fetfatzidis, Pantelic (Modesto 74)
Unused subs: Ntounis, Holebas, Orbaiz, Grbic

Goalscorers:
Djebbour (73)

Thought we were very unlucky in that game and a bit ****** off with some of the chances Anelka missed!! Last game for the night next I think.

Blackburn Rovers (9.) v Chelsea (2.)
Barclays Premier League Matchday 7

KEY PLAYER

CHRISTOPHER SAMBA

0,,10303~9995464,00.jpg

Steve Kean's captain and one of the most sought after centre-backs in the Premier League at this point in time, Samba is an all-round powerful and committed centre-back. Strong in the air, clean in the tackle, big clubs were eyeing him up this summer but he confirmed his commitment to the club by signing a new contract.

MATCH NEWS

Michael Essien is Chelsea's only absentee, whilst the Blues also brought Irish youngster Conor Clifford into the first-team set up this week.

Blackburn will be without Junior Hoilett who could be out for a month with damaged knee ligaments. David Dunn is also out with a damaged achilles.

MATCH PREVIEW

Blackburn have made a steady start to the new season under Steve Kean. They have won fixtures against Swansea and Wolves to put themselves neatly in mid-table but they will be expecting a bigger challenge today against Chelsea.
The Blues last Premier League outing was a 7-0 thrashing of Sunderland so Kean will definitely have been working on ways to minimize Chelsea's main threats. One of those is John Terry, who on 4 goals, is becoming a real goalscoring asset for Chelsea this season:

Illyroy said:
"We're delighted with the performances from Terry this season. He is a world class player though and he's shown that to me from day 1 working with him.
"There will be changes of course from the midweek game and I'm hoping we can pick up where we left off last time out. Blackburn bought wisely in the transfer market and even though they are missing Junior Hoilett I think they will provide us with plenty of threats, both in open play and definitely from set pieces.
"We did indeed welcome Conor Clifford to train with the first team this week following some excellent reserve performances. He is someone we have confidence in for the future and he could see action this season too."

Simon+Vukcevic+Sunderland+v+Blackburn+Rovers+SQEQfOS_KqZl.jpg

Vukcevic rounded off a good performance with the winner.

Chelsea were sent home dissapointed after a spirited display from Steve Kean's men saw them leave Ewood Park victorious. An early goal from Montenegro midfielder Vukcevic was enough to see the Blues off.

It took just two minutes to break the deadlock, and Chelsea this time were undone by an impressive Pedersen throw-on. Launched into the box, Vukcevic took the ball near post and slammed it into the roof of the net.

Chelsea finally picked up after quarter of an hour and began making chances, with Juan Mata looking their most likely source of inspiration on the left. He created a superb chance for Daniel Sturridge, but Paul Robinson made a fine save to deny him.

Frank Lampard took a number of shots from distance in the first half but the Chelsea manager was left frustrated as many of them missed the target - and by some distance.

In the second half, Blackburn were playing with some swagger, as they passed the ball around and forced some impressive openings, but Jason Roberts was unable to double the advantage when given a clear chance.

Chelsea made a number of changes up front, with Malouda, Drogba and Kalou all coming on before the end of the game, and Kalou came very close to equalising late on, bursting free on the right after good work from Paulo Ferreira before slamming a shot against the crossbar.

Blackburn's players then played keep ball to the delight of the home fans, and secured a famous victory.

Illyroy said:
"We had a game plan, but that was thrown into the air after just two minutes due to a lack of concentration. We got ourselves back into the game and made some chances but like against Olympiakos we looked almost complacent up front.
"We made changes in the second half and it looked like we would at least get an equaliser, which we probably deserved on the balance of play, but it wasn't to be. Full credit to Blackburn, they defended their lead well today."

Blackburn:
Robinson, Salgado, Samba, Dann (Nelsen 86), Olsson, Diarra, Duscher, Vukcevic, Formica, Pedersen, Roberts
Unused subs: Bunn, Milanov, Jensen, Goodwillie, Hanley, Givet

Goalscorers: Vukcevic (2)

Chelsea: Cech, Ferreira, Cole, Terry, David Luiz, Mikel, Lampard, Meireles, Sturridge (Kalou 75), Mata (Malouda 57), Torres (Drogba (63)
Unused subs: Turnbull, Alex, Ramires, Ivanovic

Barclays Premier League Matchday 8

KEY PLAYER

LUIS SUAREZ
luis-suarez-liverpool-cropped

The Uruguayan joined last January and has become an integral part of this new-look Liverpool side under Kenny Dalglish. Superb technical skills and pace to go with it, he will be Liverpool's main threat if he plays this weekend.

MATCH NEWS

Chelsea are only without Michael Essien

Liverpool on the other hand will have to do without vice-captain Jamie Carragher. He is expected back in the next couple of games but won't make this one. Fabio Aurelio and Brazilian goalkeeper Doni are both also out of the picture whilst Glen Johnson is a doubt.

MATCH PREVIEW

This is the biggest game of these two teams' season so far. Both teams are in the top 4 currently, but Liverpool come into the game on better form. Chelsea finished the last game on the end of a defeat against Blackburn, whilst Liverpool saw off Wolves with a 2-0 victory, despite crashing to a 5-1 thrashing against Arsenal the week before.
Chelsea haven't lost at home yet this season and will be hoping they can continue that run this evening. Didier Drogba is tipped to make a start this afternoon, whilst the manager also spoke about the mid-week game against Shakhtar.

Illyroy said:
"This is a big game for us because we need to pick ourselves up from that defeat against Blackburn and show the quality that we did in the games prior to a fortnight ago.
"Drogba may well get the nod for this game, looking ahead to the Shakhtar game, and I have full confidence that he can continue on from his early season form to power us up the table.

David Luiz performed superbly at the back and also bagged two goals.

Chelsea were phenomonal as they brushed aside the threat of Liverpool with remarkable ease. David Luiz and Didier Drogba both bagged braces, while Lampard scored his fourth of the season. Fernando Torres added a late sixth to compound the misery of the travelling supporters.

Chelsea came out looking like a team with a point to prove. After losing to Blackburn last time out the Chelsea players were desperate to get the win, and Drogba set Chelsea on their way after just four minutes, testing Reina before pouncing on the rebound.

Drogba was in inspired form and Liverpool could not handle him, as he fired shots and held the ball up with extreme skill. His shot earned the corner for David Luiz's first goal, Meireles whipped it in and the Brazillian tapped home.

And the Brazilian made it 4 for the season just before half time with an identical goal, Meireles once again the provider. Frank Lampard got in on the action with 5 minutes to go in the half, adding a screamer from 25 yards after being teed up by Dider Drogba.

Drogba rounded off an all-action performance in the second half with his second, although he didn't know much about it, deflecting in Frank Lampard's cross-***-shot.

In truth, Chelsea had not dominated the match in terms of possession (although they certainly did shots wise), and Liverpool continued to play the ball in the middle of the park, and Suarez also wasted a couple of chances late on, though the damage had been done.

Fernando Torres then produced a fine cameo as he slotted home the rebound from Daniel Sturridge's shot to seal a wonderful victory that puts Chelsea right back in the title frame. Stamford Bridge is proving a formidable place to come once more.

Illyroy said:
"The main thing was the win after that display against Blackburn. We weren't good enough and we knew it but I am delighted with the character the lads showed. From the first minute they wanted to win and our domination of chances and some of the football we played in the first 45 was truly scary.
"I'm delighted for Fernando and Didier was fantastic as well. It's food for thought as the season progresses but the main thing is that we are back on track in the league."

Chelsea: Cech, Bosingwa, Cole, Terry, David Luiz (Ivanovic 63), Mikel, Lampard, Meireles, Mata (Malouda 63), Drogba (Torres 76), Sturridge
Unused subs: Turnbull, Anelka, Ramires, Romeu

Goalscorers: Drogba (4, 69), David Luiz (29, 38), Lampard (40), Torres (90)

Liverpool: Reina, Kelly, Coates, Agger (Skrtl 65), Enrique, Kuyt, Gerrard, Leiva, Downing (Bellamy 65), Carroll (Maxi 70), Suarez
Unused subs: Jones, Adam, Shelvey, Henderson

cfc12345 - yeah I know, we were a bit unlucky but it was because we were chasing the game after just the first minute. We would have won on another day.
And as for 2-0, pahhh. 6-0 more like!! How about that for a result! Cheers for following mate ;)

Fantastic win! Torres scored too which makes it even better :)

MATCH NEWS

Chelsea will be able to call upon a full squad for this Champions League tie. Michael Essien is a long term absentee but is also unregistered.

Luiz Adriano is a doubt for the game with a sprained ankle.

MATCH PREVIEW

These two teams have both taken 4 points from the opening two games and as top two seeds, these clashes could decide who finishes where in the group. Chelsea are favourites but the Ukrainian side are no mugs. Their side is full of top Brazilian and Ukrainian talent and they proved their ability by qualifying for the Champions League Quarter-Finals for the first time in their history last season.
Illyroy talked about the challenge ahead and the possibility of slipping into second position in the Group.

Illyroy said:
"Travelling to the Ukraine is a daunting proposition with league matches to come at the weekend but the team have been prepared for it comfortably. We will be going out there for the win and we are fully mindful of the dangers Shakhtar pose.
"We're not thinking so far ahead as to where we will finish the group. We're just taking every match as they come and if we play to our full potential we should do well."

nice result against liverpool...you can tell this is football manager..torres scored lol
