Rooney is a confidence player, he is like a **** Berbatov. Scored a lot in the first half of the season and then couldn't buy a goal.

Charlton sign Bournemouth defender Rhoys Wiggins for an undisclosed fee.

Mehdi Abeid has completed his move to Newcastle from Lens

Why would Criscito go to Zenit? Genoa are a good side, who are challenging for Europe. However, I guess he has more chances at winning a trophy at Zenit, although in a much 'weaker' league. I rate Criscito, think he is a top player capable of playing well for Italy.

From what I read, he sounds a great player. Keeping my fingers crossed that he won't flop, as Brum need some goal scorers (and keep their solid defence) to go back up at the first attempt. They have the money as well, with Carson Yeung (although he has been arrested?).

Sunderland sign highly-rated Ipswitch and England Under-21 striker Connor Wickham for around £12m, with £8m up front and the rest bonuses.
[Sky Sports, BBC Sport, Guardian Football]

Dorus De Vries, the Swansea no.1, has joined Wolverhampton Wanderers on a bosnan after rejecting a new contract from the Swans. He becomes Wolves' second signing of the season, after Jamie O'Hara joined for £5m from Tottenham Hotspur.
[Sky Sports, BBC Sport, Guardian Football]

Gutted to miss out on Wickham, as I believed he had potential even though £13m was a bit too much and we have enough strikers. However, I believed he could of challenged for a first team place and replace some of the ageing players, like Dirk Kuyt. Dorus De Vries looks a good signing, although I'm not sure if Wolves need him. Maybe he will be backup?

There isnt that much of a difference in leagues tbh! Zenit would beat Genoa.

^ Was about to write that too, Zenit are better than Genoa at the moment, they are in the Champions League, the quality of the Russian leagues is constantly improving with many teams having lots of money, Anzhi trying to get into the CL and so on. Criscito is just the player Zenit have been needing, a good left back. Why wouldn't he want to have shot of Champions League knockout games, even have a chance of winning it? He is still relatively young and can go to a big team in Italy, France, Germany, Spain or England in the future.

Dario Conca moves to Guangzhou Evergrande of China, signing a contract that, according to Argentine and Brazilian media (Probably Chinese too but my skills don't go that far...), makes him the third highest-earning footballer in the world. Wow. Just wow.

Not much difference between Italian and Russian leagues? I agree that the Russian league has grown more competitive in recent times (Rubin, Anzhi, CSKA Moscow, Zenit, Spartak) but the Italian league is a lot richer and still more competitive (Inter, AC, Juve, Roma, Napoli, Palermo, Lazio, Genoa, etc.). However, Zenit could probably beat Genoa, but I still wouldn't choose Zenit over them. Remember, Genoa have players like Veloso who are class and challenge for Europe.

Ignorance is Bliss.. If you really think there isn't much difference between the two league. They are facing the tougher times and they will be back to where they belong..

Saying as you can predict the future you wouldnt mind Pming me tonight lotto numbers?
At the moment the Itailian league is competive because the big teams arent as good as they once where. Germany have overtaken Italy in the rankings and have taken one of the Champions League spots. It is obvious that the Russian league is on the up and Italy is going the other way.

Germany overtook Italy as they concentrated on Europa whereas Italian teams didn't give ***** about it. Italian teams have done well in Champions league than Germany..

Its not just my prediction. Its a cycle. Serie A was top league, now they are behind. Again their time will come.. Simple as that.

Comparing Russian league and Serie A. This forum has hit a new low IMO..

No German team has won the UEFA cup more than once. German teams arent the major force in Europe's second competition that you are making out. Both Shalke and Bayern did well in the Champions League this year, better than Italys representatives Ac and Inter. So to say that the reason Germany have overtaken Italy because of the Europa League is wrong and insulting.

Serie A will recover like the Dutch league has? Just becasue a league was sucessful doesnt mean it will remain at the top forever.
Having a valid opinion and backing it up is anew low? k <)

What RTW said.

Lol.

Off with their heads.

Hope something happens soon on the transfer front, just so we've got something to talk about. In the meantime there's always Le Tour on TV.

Jack Cork: Chelsea to Southampton, £750,000

Copa America reduces a good number of targets. Not many clubs like to business during tournaments, due to injuries etc
