Starting XI - Begovic, Bertrand, Van Dijk, Fonte, Cedric, Wanyama, Davis, Tadic, Mane, Rodriguez, Pelle.

We just didnt have enough to get past City who put on a good display to take all the points. Personally I think we played quite well but we just weren't quite good enough. Graziano Pelle continued his fine season by claiming another goal but Aguero was pure class the whole match and we just couldnt cope with him. Well played City.

April Review

View attachment 214063

Another mixed month as we are dreadful in the Premier League but advance in all the knockout competitions. Losses to City and United were expected but the games against Crystal Palace and Watford were simply not good enough.

View attachment 214061
Leicester have been relegated from the Premier League and Man City are pretty much champions unless a 25 goal difference swing happens. We are currently 12th in the table but have plenty of games in hand with which to turn it around. The Europa League places do seem slightly out of reach for us now though.

Meanwhile we will play Newcastle in the final of the FA Cup. We are going to have to get the job done at Wembley to qualify for the Europa League.

Player of the Month

View attachment 214059

In the end I couldnt decide on a single player so the award this month is shared between Graziano Pelle and Jay Rodriguez. Pelle managed to notch 5 goals in 6 appearances this month while Rodriguez got a further 6 goals in 9 appearances. It is no coincidence that these two lead the club scoring charts and are going to play a major part in the club moving forward.

So this is it, the biggest and final month of the season. Tottenham in the Europa League semi-final, Liverpool in the league, Newcastle in the FA Cup final. This will define our season.

Starting XI - Begovic, Bertrand, Caulker, Fonte, Cedric, Bender, Clasie, Rodriguez, Mane, Ward-Prowse, Pelle.

Oh what a win! and what a game! After being 2-0 down early on, we scored 2 goals in 2 minutes to level the match directly after Liverpools 2nd, 3 goals in 3 minutes, that really happened! We were absolutely mighty to come back and win this game and I am so proud of everybody. Rodriguez, Mane, Clasie and Prowsey with the goals!

Devastated for our captain. He has been an absolute rock at the back alongside Van Dijk all season and he will now miss everything that we have worked so hard for, the FA Cup final, The Europa League semis and possibly the final and the run in for the Premier League. A broken Pelvis is a nasty injury and he will be at the forefront of all of our minds as we play on.

Another win against a good Everton team as we start to climb the table by winning our games in hand. James Ward-Prowse scored a brace to ease us past the toffees with a complete display that gains us 3 valuable points. It is all about momentum now at this stage of the season and we are starting to peak at exactly the right time.

Another win as we begin to stack them up! James Ward-Prowse was once again the star of the show as he grabbed another two goals. His composure and finishing from the right hand wing have just been incredible recently, long may his form continue! Jordy Clasie also continued his own purple patch of form by grabbing another and Steven Caulker is putting up a convincing argument for us turning his loan move permanent.

It was looking like the classic scenario of the Europa League run ruining the Premier League form, but looks like you might be able to turn it around late on, great read!

I had never really appreciated before how much the Europa League takes out of the squad. Will be much more prepared for it next season! we just somehow managed to battle through! :)

Two Finals and reaching for top 7 what a finish! keep going m8 :D

Cheers man :) two wins against West Brom and Newcastle would break our Premiership highest points record of 60 points, and then hopefully some silverware and we are set :)

Starting XI - Begovic, Yoshida, Bender, Caulker, Tete, Wanyama, Clasie, Tadic, Mane, Ward-Prowse, Austin.

Gutted. We got absolutely battered by West Brom but I suppose its not surprising with the state of the team we put out. With just one days rest since the last game it was a heavily rotated squad. Bertrand and Targett were both out injured as is Jose Fonte so Yoshida had to play left back and Sven Bender dropped into centre back. It really showed as well how many players were out of position and with the result we lost the chance to beat our record points total in the Premiership.

Starting XI - Begovic, Wood, Van Dijk, Caulker, Cedric, Wanyama, Clasie, Rodriguez, Mane, Ward-Prowse, Pelle.

Really not the best way to end our Premiership season but we have bigger fish to fry. A better performance than we gave against West Brom but still not the right result as Newcastle put us to the sword with two goals from Ayoze Perez. Notibally this game saw youngster Will Wood given his debut at left back and he did fairly well!

Premier League round-up

View attachment 214000
So Manchester City are crowned champions of the Premier League with Bournemouth, West Brom and Leicester being relegated to the Championship. A solid if not spectacular performance from us saw us grab 9th place in the table and fall just 4 points short of the 6th place required for Europa League football. Luckily we still have a couple of chances to qualify for Europe in the shape of a couple of cup finals. Massive shout outs to Jurgen Klopps liverpool who have been brilliant and Stoke who have finished in 5th to qualify for the Europa League! New Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti couldnt reverse Chelsea's fortunes in time and they will not participate in any European competition next year after finishing 8th.

Sergio Aguero has been an unstoppable force this year and finishes with 30 goals to claim the golden boot by a country mile. David Silva and Wilfried Zaha lead the way on assists while Joe Hart wins the golden glove award after playing less games than Mignolet.

Yearly Review

So that was one **** of a season and one that I am really not sure what to make of. After much thought I feel that the season has to go down as a success.
  • 9th place in the Premier League is a solid but unspectacular return on what was an up and down season. We managed to score the 3rd highest amount of goals in the Premiership but also conceded the 4th highest. Inconsistency and individual mistakes ended up marring our League season.

  • Runner up in the Europa League. This is something that I would never have imagined possible at the start of the year. We were absolutely fantastic throughout the whole campaign except for the last 45 minutes that mattered to bring home the title. I cant be too hard on the lads.

  • Winner of the FA Cup. This is the one that mattered this season. Silverware to raise our reputation in the game and qualification for the Europa League! this trophy is what I believe makes our season a success. A 2nd consecutive year in the Europa League means we matched our feats of last season and even surpassed them with the addition of a trophy. Progress.

I'm not sure I can argue with the awards given out. The team of the season is a bit strange as our player of the season, Pelle, doesnt featue? I would have thought if you drop Davis out for Pelle, put Pelle up front with Mane in behind him and Rodriguez out on the right, it would be pretty spot on.
