I think we were really unlucky not to get Europa League football after Christmas with a couple of decent results in a group we never expected to do much in. Im just surprised Ajax managed to beat Marseille to second spot, Real Madrid struggled enough in a group you would think they would win easily.

The goals have really dried up in recent weeks but were still winning matches thanks to goals from Soudani and Berciraj, We wont play again now for 55 days and it wont take long for the second half of the season with only 10 league games and a possible 3 cup games to play.

So we have beaten Hajduk again this month and are now 12 points clear at the top with only 10 games remaining and were still undefeated.

Berciraj has dropped behind Michael in the goalscoring charts and the average rating stats im just glad hes only on loan at Hajduk for the season.

Yeah im surprised at how easy it has been considering they had sold practically every decent player i remember from 2 seasons ago.

A very busy month after we draw 0-0 at the beginning of the month to Istra i changed the tactics around a little and we seemed to find the net a lot easy for the rest of the month, picking up 6 wins in a row including one against rivals Hajduk and making it to the Croatian Cup Final which is rather strangely played over 2 legs.

A massive 21 points clear at the top of the table now with only 7 games to go and winning the league title is practically a formality now.

We have 4 of the top 5 in the assists charts while Bericraj and Michael both hit the 20 goal mark in the league an impressive twice as many as there nearest rivals.​

So it was the draw with Slaven Belupo that secured the title for us but despite this there was no hangover in the league as we secured 3 wins in a row with youngster Halilovic excelling.

We struggled against Cibalia in the first leg but in the 2nd leg dominated with Berciraj grabbing a hattrick while Halilovic set up 2 of his goals and got two goals himself.

So it was a decent amount of money but nobody i really wanted was there for a decent price, Jelavic interested me but Hull wanted around ?16million! I wanted to bring Kramaric back but he was valued at a mere ?1million and i had bids in excess of ?7million rejected but here is the buisness i was able to do.

Players Outs

So i brought in around ?20million in selling only 5 players, Ibanez who was on loan last season left for ?1.5million, along with Zakaric another out on loan who went for over ?5million, I also sold Cop who just wasnt up to getting the goals for us while as you can see i had to let Becirag go as he was demanding to leave once getting a few offers and as hes not Croatian i was happy to oblige for that sort of money.

Players In

So i brought back GK Kelava as a good backup/rotation player with our GK from last season only on loan while my big signing was Croatian Santini who will hopefully fill Beciraj's boots. I also brought in for small fees two golden oldies in the forms of Trezeguet and Elmander to help our stuttering front line.

Elmander only starts due to Soudani being a bit tired but the rest of the starting 11 only one is over the age of 24 a few of the other players you may not recognise like Prenga and Brucic are players who have come back to us after being on loan last season who i will play a lot more myself this season.

We have a rather favourable draw and manage to win our matches so advance to the Group stages picking up a cool ?7million in the process.

Not a bad group as there is no standout team so everyone could beat each other which will only help my cause for European football after Christmas while everybody who has followed my previous stories knows Benfica are my bogey team!

Not my best month in charge of the club but we manage to make the Champions League Group stages for the second year running but only manage draws in the league against fierce title rivals Rijeka and Hajduk but at least Elmander has taken to Croatian football smashing in plenty of goals in his first month with us.
